Just because Pattie is gone doesn't mean that this isn't an issue for other players who do the same thing. Again, they're not pretending, they're INSISTING that they're not the race they chose.

Even if they did put in policy, GMs can only police so many people at a time if they are told of what's happening, and that's not to say that if they are against policy that they will be told anything at all or punished in any way.

GMs have told people in the game that they can't do such and such actions or can't really be another race and are being OOC and that's all they pretty much can do. No one will ever really be kicked out of the game for being OOC because at least 50% of the game population do it at one time or another (and I think I'm being nice with 50%, I feel it's more).

I'm sorry if I seem to be too gung ho about this topic, but it's always been something that I, as well as several others I know, feel that it's a problem. People complained and argued about people saying AS and DS numbers out loud for a long time and people said that it wouldn't change a thing. Little by little people started to realize how wrong it was and it's not as prominent a problem as it used to be.

So people asking others to consider what they are doing to better the game and enjoyment for everyone is not a wasted complain, IMO.

In any debate posted here the goal is RARELY EVER to convince the person you're debating with to change their mind. The goal is to sway those who read the thread and remain undecided or aren't too sure about their position. It also helps both sides in strengthening their arguments.

Like I said, they probably won't change. But what will happen is that perhaps people in the future will think twice before deciding to pick one race and then play another one.

It wouldnt be ooc if they decided not to be that creature anymore. That could easily be roleplayed... maybe a lightening bolt struck them and they realized they had amnesia that made them THINK they were whatever and now finally their memory is back and theyre normal again. Anything is possible. This debate isn't necessarily JUST about Pattie the Halfling but about others who try to be a cat, rabbit, rolton, or anything the generator WONT let them chose!

Or perhaps the character finally realizes what they are and comes to terms with it. There's lots of room for roleplaying when a turn of events happens to someone like that.

She wouldn't even have to change anything about the way that she plays her character. The character believes she is a kobold, and would continue to... the only change that would occur is that player's reality.
