View Full Version : Ever wanted to make a fortune while you slept?

A couple o'people told me I should've done this years ago when I wrote the thing, but I never did. Well, just saw somebody offer 10k for a wizard spellup, and since it's 5am and I'm sick to death of tracking down bugs in my Lich thingie so that it's useful to someone other than myself, I whipped up this little modification to my "unattended automated 24/7 every-profession any-name spellup script," and the change is this: it charges. It still only works in the Wizard.
Takes 2k notes. Make sure that when you STOW RIGHT or STOW LEFT, that it does so properly, because otherwise it ain't gonna work too well. It runs, but nobody's around for me to test it with (and I'll never use the thing so I ain't bothering to test it by myself), so I can't promise it's flawless. Smart enough to know the difference between a 2k note and a lump of coal (or a 1 coin note), etc..
Oh yeah, and it gives me (Shaelun) spells for free. Hey, don't give me no lip 'bout that! Did you write the thing? No? Well there ya have it. There's no way for someone other than a player with the name "Shaelun" to get free spells, so don't bother trying.
... and if I find someone using this who's taken my free spells out of it, I don't know what I'll do, but believe me, it'll be vindictive and way not worth it, heh...
For the record, I do not recommend using this, but I have no doubt some people will, and I'm chuckling as I type because of it...
Gonna be hilarious if people get locked out for this garbage, hahaha... ;)

Edit, Replace.
Find: Shaelun
Replace with: ( insert my characters name)
click click replace all!
:eatme:
hehe. Cool Idea. :bouncy:
But how will they know it's available? You gonna have the script broadcast on the net? Then, if you figure that out, where you gonna sit the wizard so it isn't obvious but yet is safe... Unless you can get it to invite everyone who tries to come to your table.

I am so serious, if you use *my* script to make silver and aren't even willing to give me free spells, then you just plain suck. Yes, it's that simple: you suck!
As for the rest, uhh... I've never once used this thing, the charge version or the free version, and I never once will. I wrote it for fun, and I figured "hey, nobody's done this yet - I think it'd be neat! <type-type-type away>"
Yeah, I'm kind of nutty; so what, wanna make somethin' of it?! ;) I don't know how, and I don't care to figure it out. But the only thing that comes to mind is not being able to use PAUSE because it won't take notes from people while it's paused. So yeah, this'd work just fine:
The first match list... where it says "MATCH RESET IDLE TOO LONG" or whatever it matches for incase nobody's tapped you for too long...
replace it with "match advertise IDLE TOO LONG" and then make a stupid, simple little label that says...
Advertise:
put rub my amulet
wait
put think (profession) spellups, my thrak table, 2k! Come, sit and tap me.
goto (mainloop? Whatever it is).
... want me to start the damn script for you, too, or do ya think you'll be okay with that part? ;)

Geeze, you keep thinking I'm coming off like I'm attacking you, I don't mean to. Sorry!
No, it's ok though...I have always given spells for free...people would think the wizard went crazy.

I just have a personality that can easily be misinterpreted. Everything I say is a joke -- I mean no offense (ever), and I'm not trying to be mean (unless you're lucky enough to *really* piss me off, which is hard, to say the least). Anywho...
So yeah, hey, I just thought of something: can GM's be bribed? I mean like, seriously, would it be possible for someone to have most of the GM's on a payroll or something, and use this script but charge for like, 10k each spellup, and sell every million on ebay or wherever for 15 bucks a pop?
... pay me, biznitch, or I'm ratting you out! ;) Seriously though. Think you'd end up with a profit, heh?

I've seen...and used scripts in many ways that would be considered "against policy."
Usually GM's have other things to worry about though. Once in a while they will bust someone just to scare people, but I've never been caught.

Hon, there are a few gms who read these boards. I'm not sure this is the best place to advertise that.

I've already got a script made for doing this. It's my super amazing, 15 second full wizard spellup script :)
4 hours of all spells a wizard can share, in just 15 seconds. I love doing it :)

Heh, I've been busted for script growing herbs afk. I thought I'd be cool, cause I'm not gaining exp, and not making silver. I was just getting herbs. But, well the GM's desided I was breaking some rule and busted me.

Yeah, not surprised, GSLady. I believe the policy reads (or at least means), "any form of gain while not actively playing the game is against policy." You were gaining herbs...!! CHEATER!!! ;)

Oh yes, I've made millions of silvers doing it. I normally get about 10k silver a spellup, and since I do it so fast, I get a lot of repeat customers.

Yep, completely serious. And I've only had to kill 1 person so far for running and not paying.
You'd think they would not try to rip off someone who could turn them into a puddle of goo..but I guess people are a little slow.
Edit to add : Feel free to go to the GM's. I've done it all, without being afk. It's rather fun to freak people out cause they think you are afk. ;)

Well, in their defense, I'd probably assume that someone who did that regularly would've stopped bothering to check logs a loooong time ago.
Suppose it's a simple matter of searching for a rare or unique string though, eh.
[edit: goddamn is it hard to answer posts when people change them while you're typing your response...!! Heh...]

As I said in the other thread, using an AFK script for interactions is just asking for trouble. Good luck though.

Make a character whos name starts with shaelun (for example, Shaeluna), go to a person doing this spellup, say "Shaelun smirks."...
Speaking in absolutes is just asking for it.
There's no way for someone other than a player with the name "Shaelun" to get free spells, so don't bother trying.

<<I've seen...and used scripts in many ways that would be considered "against policy.">>
The only script that is against policy is one that has a PUT command that executes an action that is against policy. Unless the script has something like:
loop:
put say FUCK THE GAMEMASTERS
waitfor You say
goto loop
in it, then it's not against policy at all.

I yield, Celephais -- the literal definition of my words is logically invalid.
Yes, the day has come: I am inescapably wrong. I, for one, am incapacitated with disbelief. ;)
I should have said a character who's name *contains the string*, "Shaelun." Hah, find a hole in *that* one.
I dare ya, heh...
[edit: sh1t, I found a hole already... no possible way without modifying the script. <ponders momentarily> ...yes, I believe that about does it -- you may attempt to invalidate me now ;)]
