I'm about 5'6" and 125-130 lbs, female and in the last couple days, I've had soem trouble with my feet swelling on the tops of my feet. No pain, not occurring in my toes, NOT pregnant.

Anyone have a clue as to what could cause this? I don't eat a lot of salt, and I don't seem to be bloating or swelling anywhere else. My only other ailment is a toothache.

Would an improper chair cause this? I'm at a loss, any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe allergies?

I haven't introduced anything odd or new into my body or environment... *that just sounds odd*

It was better after I woke up. Could it be circulatory?

Yea maybe, could have stayed in one position too long.

I'd guess it would definetly be circulatory. I'm no doctor, no medical knowledge whatsoever, but if both of your feet are swollen and you didn't drop something on them or smash them, it sounds circulatory.

Could be bad shoes. Other than that it may be West Nile Virus.

Dunno... that sounds like a case of “fashion is painful” to me.

Maybe it is as simple as you are seriously dehydrated. Try Ibuprofen or Aspirin and lots of water and see if it does not go away.

Maybe it's the gout.

I think your guess of a chair may be a good one.

Had you been sitting for an extended period of time? A chair with too little padding or that has the edge at the right place can decrease the efficacy of our circulatory system.

Either reducing the amount of time you are seated or even just getting a better/different chair may help.

Elevate them. Drink a ton of water. See if it helps. Could be influenced from the fact that it's been hot as hell outside, too.

Take one-two potassium-gluconate tablets a day. Even if you aren't eating a ton of salt, it will help regulate the fluid levels in your body. Just be careful, if you take too much, it can interfere with your heartbeat, so do not exceed the dosage.

Diabetics get adema pretty easily. It's not fun. Elevating your legs is a good idea, or move your computer over to your bed if you can't stand to be without it. Also, since you're not in pain, get some physical activity.

Yep, I used to get quite severe oedema around my ankles, I'd sometimes even wake up with it. Work out how much salt you are eating, and if you are dehydrated. That was the key for me, my sodium intake was too high and fluid intake too low. Remember that salt is in a lot of food, even if you can't taste it.

Do some excersise every day, to keep your circulation working well, this helps the body move fluid back up rather than allowing it to gather at the lowest point.

One thing to check for, if you get any pain in your calf, any redness or swelling etc then get to your ER.

Dehydration could be the cause of most people’s ailments. If you aren’t drinking like a gallon of water over the course of a day then you are probably dehydrated. Drink anything with caffeine and you need to drink even more water. Salty diet? Yep, more water. If you pee and there is any color to it you aren’t drinking enough water.

I’ve heard that as a modern society our thirst triggers are seriously out of whack. All the soda companies want you to grab one of their products when you are thirsty... but they are filled with so much caffeine and sodium you are actually dehydrating yourself further by drinking them.

Yup. Not nice.

I wouldn't worry if you have good mobility, aren't over weight etc. If you're using hormone contraceptives though, maybe get it checked out. :)
