Is this the same video that was in a thread yesterday where the annoying guy is yelling "lightning bolt" a thousand times? And then the girl enthusiastically claps at the end?
I don't dare click on the link at work.
Showal and I were laughing about it yesterday morning.

Yeah I'm just fucking around. LARP for me is paintball baby. I play the role Steven Segal in a ninja outfit.
Which reminds me.. I still want to find out where there is a LARP gathering and storm the motherfuckers with paint balls dressed as ninjas or storm troopers.

Regardless of when this was first posted, it is hilarious and should be posted more often.
I refuse to believe that people actually do this, this video is obviously a fake!
I heard there were people playing a text adventure game and spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on a longcoat which adds 50 to their characters defensive strength.

Haha.
Speaking of live action roleplay.
There are these men in the park where I go. I see them sometimes. And they dress up in full body plate and hit each other with wooden swords. So last night I was running with my girl in the park and we were making fun of them as usual until one of them put down his cardboard shield and took off his helmut and shook his head Pantene-style and I had to do a double take and slow my pace by half so as not to fall on my face. I was all like !HOT DORK IN ARMOR ALERT!.

I bet if you dressed up as Darth Vader you could be like FORCE CHOKE and they'd all drop. Would make them much easier targets then. Or if it happens to take place near a cliff, just yell FORCE PUSH OFF CLIFF and they'd probably jump to their deaths.

I knew a group of kids, who were a few years older than me, that had to have done this. I saw one wearing a chainmail shirt on day and I asked him where the hell he got something like that. He said "I made it" then I asked how long it took him. He said "It took me approximately 80 man hours of labor to complete it." I never spoke to any of them ever again.
Before that, I was with a group of friends and saw one of them swinging a stick around and we started making fun of him by yelling "OH THAT'S AWESOME! WOW!" and shit like that. He eventually came over and said "I'm practicing for NERO. That's New England Role-Playing Organization." At this point, I didn't know what role playing was and I was like "what the hell is that?" and he said "It's basically a group where you sign a waiver and they beat the crap out of you. You have to be tough to be part of it."
I would say, yeah ... people actually do that. I was just hoping it wasn't common.

I'm glad I live in a state full of drunks and not people like this.

They have something similar like that down here too.
Actually...its 3 hours north of where I live.
But anyhow, a huge group of people will dress up in chainmail and plate, and the womenfolk come out dressed in peasant/wench clothes and proceed to watch them men beat the shit out of each other with cloth-tipped rattan swords.
And no, this is not in the same boat as the Renaissance festival. Its just a lot of fighting guys. I'd rather go to the Ren fair dressed like a royal slut, suck on turkey legs and oogle guys in velvet tights.

Never been down with the "fantasy" set LARPs because they just tend to look ridiculous. I had a fair amount of fun with the White Wolf LARPs until they came out with Vampire: Requiem and it went from halfway decent to terrible. I'm a lot more willing to throw paper rocks scissors as a dice roll equivalant than to mess around with a bunch of people shouting out spells and swinging foam rubber.
Though, LARP Call of Cthulhu is hilarious.
SCA is the stuff where they actually make more realistic weapons and armor. Most of the SCA heavy weapons users tend to be decently tough... but most people don't actually fight heavy weapons, they just mess around with foam rubber stuff. I'm not an Anticor sized beast so I've done their fencing some but people generally practice that not in garb, just in fencing outfits without the actual Olympic fencing line (which makes fencing a lot more fun).
If you think about the 80 hours... I know people who spend that long trying to gain a single level in GS or a single item in WoW.

Um...any idea why that guy decided to jump kick the cameraman? That's awesome. Everything that happens after is awesome too.
Must be boxing LARP...
My friend saw a group of LARPerss doing some starwars shit on the beach. It was pretty funny - they were spinning around smaking their plastic sabers around - when all of a sudden this third guys comes and goes some choke gesture with his hands - one of the LARPers flew back into the sand and started acting like he was choking.
The sad part is - this was in the middle of a busy summer day on a public beach - and the LARPers were like 18-22.

You should pretend to act interested in playing your area, scout out websites and ask for dates of when and where they play and then BAM go for the ATTACK! Just Google LARP in your city.
