I prefer summer. I would rather be hot than cold.

I turn into a big crybaby in the winter, when I've been outside too long, and my fingers and toes start to hurt and get numb.

It amazes me that some people can work outside all day in winter weather. I would probably start crying and have to be sent home. :(

Fall and Winter rule! Fall moreso since it's cold enough to wear a jacket or sweater and it's just beautiful all over.

I prefer the cold. Heat makes me cranky.

I would rather dress in a nice sweater, kick ass leather jacket, jeans and boots than a skimpy little outfit with a mini-nothing tank top. I think girls dress better in the winter, with the exception of a few...

Summer, summer, summer!!!!!!!!!

I hate winter. I forget the name of the syndrome, the winter depression thing, but I think I get that. Not to the point it makes me want to start waving a knife around or anything, but I need lots of warmth and sunlight to keep me happy.

I do like to ski, but I can travel for that. Let me live in the sunshine!

Seasonal Alteration Depression . . I'm just SAD

Miss X
10-01-2003, 02:06 PM
You can actually get lamps that create the illusion of sunlight, they are known to significantly reduce the symptoms of SAD. ( I think its also known as seasonal affective dissorder?)

Bestatte

SAD: Seasonal Affective Disorder.

I have it too. I spend most of the winter depressed. It has to do with the lack of sunlight due to shortened daytime hours. White blinding snow is great to offset this, but most people work inside in the winter. They leave for work while it's dark, and go home from work while it's dark. They rarely see the sunlight at all except on weekends.

I spend winters absolutely miserable. Hubby has a special light that I can sit under for an hour, and it helps a little, but just knowing that I need artificial light is depressing too, so I usually end up back to square one before sundown.

My favorite season is spring, in the city, and autumn in the country. There's nothing quite as glorious as sitting by the fireplace eating fresh-baked apple crisp when it's 40 degrees outside, yet being warm enough that I can go out the next morning and tend to my garden without bulking up with sweaters.

DCSL
10-01-2003, 02:12 PM
Well, I don't get depressed without sunlight, but I do LOVE the summer. Eighty degrees? That's basking weather. A hundred degrees out or more? Not a problem.

My mother says I should have been born to a rainforest tribe in Brazil...

Fraidycat
10-01-2003, 02:28 PM
I think that fer me the horrid feelings come from the fact that summer has gone . . and always so quickly too. I know it is only roughly a quarter of a year in my life but to me the only thing that counts is summer and therefore my life is passing me by quicker . . . It seems.
On the other hand it has given me a reason to get out there and get over my ex girlfrind, I know the only thing that can take my mind of this is by falling in love again.
Heh . . :) (see my profile and reply immediately)

I love the fall/winter. Total snowbunny here...I hate having to drive in it and shovel it though (but hey that's what husbands and boyfriends are for..heh)

Last winter in the big snowstorm here in Jersey we got 28 inches of snow.

If we didn't have a snowblower I would have died I think. :) cause we have elderly neighbors so had to do our house, a corner house is nice most of the time, but sucks when its snowing, and theirs several times over the 24 hour+ period it snowed.

Killed our snowblower too, burnt out the belt and had to get it fixed, luckily not till the last run though. Whew! The snow was so heavy and falling so fast, we had to shovel our roof.

Still love winter though! Best time of the year.

Aw, I have to try to find the photo of my cousin from last years storm now.

When we had to shovel the roof, it made a pile of snow a good eight plus feet high that we then jumped into from the roof.

He ::cough:: caught his boot on the gutter and ended going in head first and my sister snapped a photo of him burried head down in the snow buried to his thighs.

Too funny. :)

Blargh. Snow is fun enough for a little while... like one day. Then it should be GONE. I've lived all over the US and I have to say, I HATED the snow when I lived in New Jersey and Massachusetts. Shovelling my car free of the snow every morning was pure crap.

Although... with all that experience in the northern states, and my trips to Alaska, I feel pretty condescending of the few ice-overs here in Texas. I mean... you should see it. If they get a centimeter of snow and little bit of ice EVERYTHING shuts down. People in Texas don't know how to deal with ice or snow and you know, I don't mind, heh... just means they shut down work and school and I get a day off.

I HATE winter, and ice, and snow. It's just a pain in the ass, literally. Well, the ONLY day I like/tolerate snow, is on Christmas day. Otherwise snow can go to hell. I hate being cold. I need warm sun and fresh air. I always get a horrible cold in the winter too.

Bah! I spent last winter in Vermont. 12 feet of snow, and all of it sucked major ass. Big guys and ice equal videotaping fun for all, pain and humilation for me. Cabin fever for the first time after living your entire life in Florida was really difficult. After 5 pm, only 2 things to do in Vermont. Get drunk, or not get drunk.

PS, every had silly string freeze on your skin? My friends shot me up for my birthday out in the snow.

Of course winter is fun

IF when you were 10 years old, all you did was to play an online game during winter, watch tv, and play inside, winter sux

If when you were 10 years old, gemstone didn't existed and you spent like 2-3 hours per day playing outside, skying, hockey, snowball fights sliding, et cetera, winter is damn fun!

it's like everything i guess, if you just don't do it, you whine about it (why do you think feminists women hate men that much? )

Now it's just the shadow of what it was before, and all the strong feminists are only the lesbian/frustrated-women about men..

I dread Summer, every year, its too hot and I can't do anything. Spring is my favorite season followed by Fall, then Winter. If I could skip summer every year I would do it. Winter is nice around the time of the first snowfall, but by the end of January I'm a little tired of it most years.

Fall in Florida is perfect to me. It's 70 degrees, overcast and I've got the most incredible seabreaze that kicks in during the day, keeping my cave of a room nice and cool. I hate sleeping hot, and being able to cuddle up with someone you love and getting warm is one of the finest things in life. I can't wait for my birthday present!

I prefer Spring, it's neither too hot nor too cold.

The only good thing about winter is snowboarding and what ever winter sports people prefer. Other than that, I hate shoveling my drive way, I hate scraping the snow off my car in the morning, I hate warming up my car for 15 minutes before work, and I hate all the slush that follows you into the house. There's more, but I can't think of it. Since we get snow storms here, I'm sure I'll find more reasons to add to this thread in a month or so.

Get a 4 wheel drive with one of those car starter things and you'll be all set! My Jeep owned in all that snow.

What DOES suck though is if you don't have the benefit of a garage or a driveway...and you park on the side of the street, then the plows go through and pretty much bury your car in the snow they've plowed off the road...that BLOWS. The snow melts then re-freezes and you're stuck trying to pick mountains of ice from around your car....good times *stare*

Skirmisher

Yep. I keep a spade in the trunk of my car just for when I have to dig out from being plowed in.

And nah, no need for four wheel drive, I owned all those big ole SUVs last year in my lil manual neon.

And who wants to live in Florida year round? Some people love it I guess, but not me. I like to see all four seasons thank you. I want the deluxe package, no cheap ass three season home for me.

Florida indeed does have it's drawbacks. I'd love to live in Vermont during the month of September. Leaf-peaking season is incredible. Getting up at 7 to watch the sunlight shoot through all the different colored leaves was truly something I'll never forget. Hell, that entire month I prolly slept more under the starlight and tranquility more than I did in my bed. It was so perfect, then the snow came, and it became crap. Winter is the season to see someone at their worst, cabin fever, flu season, kids puking on your new ice boots, oh yeah!

Love you Jolena!
