Well, I would never give one of my characters a 100. I want them all to have their stats at 100 atleast by 100.

Plan on ambushing from the open?

Why does she suck (what does she do bad)? What do you want her to be able to do exactly? That would help for advice.

Compared to other warriors, I find her AS to be lacking - what concerns me more is her DS. It just seems to me that she gets beat up a lot easier than most other warriors.

And I thought you could still ambush from open (Aimed shots)

Too much ambush though, and a lot of perception for a warrior, you can put both ambush and perception down to .5x and still be just fine.

Yes you can ambush from open=)

at 83, my warrior has...

Armor Use..........................| 244 144
Shield Use.........................| 267 167
Combat Maneuvers...................| 268 168
Edged Weapons......................| 268 168

Perception.........................| 182 82
Climbing...........................| 114 28
Swimming...........................| 105 25
First Aid..........................| 102 24

And she does fine.

She used to brawl. Actually brawled until about 60 trains...never touched the living or a sword.

She got the shit beat out of her as well. I'd buy ale in teras so I could drink it and get more blood compared to leaf. But part of that may be because I never stance dance. A way not to get hit, is to train in hiding as well as ambush. If you can't hide from some critters, just go in other room and hide then sneak over. Imbeds with haste in them are heaven as well.

It's statistically better to put high scores (90's to 100) in your prime stats as they count as double in regards to tp generation. To put any lower would give you a loss of tp's in general.

As for whether aiming for lots of high stats at level 100 or lots of TPs is better, a) as I said, stats don't grow past level 100, but TPs can still be gained, b) having higher stats means higher bonuses, which means the higher stat will have a slight edge on the higher TP person, c) the TP deficit is not such that the higher stat person will be noticeably behind the TP person in core skills.

If you want more DS, get more shield and more dodge. Drop your noncombat skills if you need TPs. That much ambush is very much unnecessary for OHE and definitely for brawlers.

That being said, you shouldn't be having very much trouble. Post a log of you hunting on a regular day.

I think 20 ranks of perception for a warrior who doesn't plan on picking and doesn't give a rats ass about being ambushed is fine. I single with my characters who are afraid of being ambushed by critters/players and thats enough. So...20 or 39, not 45. I don't even think it helps with aimed shots.
I don't see anything wrong with singling ambush...but I can't help but wonder what would be more effective:
I bet you aim shots pretty well with 2x CM and 1x Ambush...but what if you:
Ditched the ambush, relied only on the CM for open aiming, and decided to pick up MOC for double strike?

Also, two weapon types. Are you doubling brawling for a reason? (ie, use Voln FU a lot, or use a katar?). Having a nice alternate weapon skill is kinda cool, but if you're not using them a lot, I might drop brawling to 1x and get that double strike. You're using edged, might as well take advantage of it with MOC and a flaring weapon like a short sword or falchion. Or drop brawling for TWC, so you can go double swords, or sword/shield against caster/bolters?

I don't know, it depends on how you see your character for the weapon stuff. I'd definitely stop wasting that many points on perception though, no matter what,

Brawling and edged and so so ambush = weak, unless Fu-ing undead.

Stats look fine to me.

Take perception down to singling, drop brawling down to singling (unless you're Fu-ing) or none at all, (if worried about DS) can take dodging up to 2x'ing. Keep ambush at 1x (or drop to .5x, if you need points). Could very well drop Climbing/Swimming down to 20 each too, if you need the extra points...don't need anything more then 20 in each until you're post 50-60 range, I think (or higher).

Everything else looks good. If you can, post up a log of a hunt, with a possible shot of you getting hit by a critter and taking damage? I'm wondering what your redux is. :)

<<I'm wondering what your redux is.>>

You need an accurate scenario to find out. Redux is near impossible to get a true reading on, ESPECIALLY when calculated from normal hunting.

A rotting corpse swings a rusted wheat scythe at you!
AS: +263 vs DS: +153 with AvD: +20 + d100 roll: +98 = +228
... and hits for 23 points of damage!
Minor puncture to the chest.

0x weapon. No shield. No spells. In stance offense.... In Haub.

I was out there tackling corpses for guild reps.

WTF are you doing in hauberk?

Bobmuhthol

53.125% redux.

It's definitely wrong because of the bad example.

I do Voln Fu undead - that's my main source of hunting. And while people say undead are dangerous, poor, and something else - I don't remember the last time I died up-hunting undead. I have found that Voln Fu works well for me. And, a katar/waraxe/falchion serves me well.

I have bard who is a polearm user - I have often amused myself with the thought of using polearms with Cheslica. Or, two weapons, though my AS isn't impressive. 304 with symbol of courage and a 4x weapon.

2 reason:
1) I am broke
2) I have 105 ranks in armor.

With 105 ranks in armor, you should be in augmented breastplate.

0x augmented breastplate is better than whatever hauberk you have.

There's 4x MBP for 180k in a Landing shop, btw. Put some arm greaves on that and you're set.

The last time you came around the best advice you got was to go two handers. However, if youre happy with the offensive power and simply want to go for high DS then here goes.

Pick edged or brawl. Dump the other. If you really like the voln brawling keep that one.

If you are picking ambush without hiding for aiming purposes drop it. With the light weapons you are using 2xCM should do the job.

Pull your shield training up higher to full 3x if you can. Make sure you are using a converted tower shield. In turn, push your dodge back down to straight 1X. Dodge is very expensive on the double train and the heavy shield penalizes it. Then get the block mastery CM and cmovement. In fact, get shield bash too.

Invest heavily in the Arcane symbols and MIU. Maybe share and some harness power too. Spell to the gills.

Pull the armor down to straight 2x. at 80 trains you can wear the MBreastPlate. As a DS queen you wont be looking for extra edge of getting to fullplate faster.

Get your multiopps training up. With light weapons you can engage in focus triplestrikes. Not impressive on the high armor critters, but vicious to the robe and light leather crowd.

If you plan to be fuing it used to be strong to throw up airwall - which had a minute penalty to MB. I dont know if that was corrected. Get a sorc to imbed it for you.

I was thinking - since I enjoy brawling, but I enjoy being able to use two weapon types.. to try something different.

I had any idea to drop all of my shield training (Which stands at 2x) and all of my edged (2x)... Then go fully double in polearms. To bring my dodge up to 2x... and my MOC to 60... I don't know..

GRRRR. I think my biggest problem is I can't settle with a weapon type.

Though I do plan on going to full plate... how much does full plate fuck with dodge?

Full plate's effect on dodge DS is noticeable, but not a backbreaker, mainly because 20 DS doesn't really matter for warriors (in most cases).

If you do go polearms, keep shield. One of the best advantages of the polearm bases is the switchables (trident and spear) that can be wielded one handed or two handed. Versatility seems to be exactly what you're searching for.

<<Though I do plan on going to full plate... how much does full plate fuck with dodge?>>

13% or 17% dodge DS penalty. I can never forget which, because I try to remember it as both. The mod is either .83 or .87.

Latrinsorm
08-12-2005, 07:57 PM
I'm pretty sure it's half the action penalty, so 17% (compared to 10% for MBP).

ieva
08-12-2005, 07:59 PM
so.. i guess... what's better for polearms... shields or dodge?

I would probably use a lance.

Artha
08-12-2005, 08:03 PM
Dodge. I guess you could go shields, but you'd lose one of the big advantages of pole-arms - the fact that they can do some crazy damage.

Bobmuhthol
08-12-2005, 08:08 PM
Dodge, because it gives DS for onehanded and twohanded.

ieva
08-12-2005, 08:09 PM
then its done. Now.. do I 2x in dodge or more?

Latrinsorm
08-12-2005, 08:20 PM
2x in dodge and get like 1.5x in shield.

Bobmuhthol

Any warrior that can 2x dodge, 1.5 shield, 2x polearm, and still be a good warrior is crazy.

Any warrior guildmasters about. I keep on trying to get promoted to master but can't find five of you around at once. So, I am putting out a plea here. If you are in game and a master, please tell me so I can finally get this shit done!

Latrinsorm
08-12-2005, 09:48 PM
2x Pole, Dodge, CM, PF, Armor, and 1.5x shield is 46/15. That leaves plenty of room for 3x PF, MoC, filling out shield, etc.

It depends on what you want to do with MoC. If you want it for multi-opp defense, keep getting it. If you want it for mstrike, I'd say get a focused doublestrike (which I'm reasonably sure is 30 ranks) and probably stop.

ieva

With my current training - at level 39, my average redux is 54.13%

This was calculated with a 4x mbp and a 4x lance. I had every part of my body ambushed with crushing and slashing, inputted all the individual numbers, added them up, and divided. I'm satisfied.

Thank you everyone for your help.
