Who here makes a conscious effort to eat properly everyday?

I know I have days when I'm all gung ho and by the end of the day I fizzle out. (yesterday's ending was garlic triscuits with parmesean cheese melted on them ... while yummy not on track for what I had planned yesterday)

I'm not talking about the occasional go out to dinners or PMS ice cream binges or even the sometime rainy day pig outs. I mean eat with the total thought of 'my body is a temple' attitude. And really plan all meals.

Give some examples of good/bad days.

I've been keeping an eye on my sat fat recently. Like, instead of having a bottle of Nesquik and a sausage egg and cheese sandwich, I'll have one one day and the other the next, and I'm trying hard to cut down on the Symphony chocolate. I also counted my calories, but that was more out of morbid curiousity.

When I'm down/angry/in pain, I'll eat whatever comes to hand (i.e. a lot).

I do. I don't have time to e really that active lately, which really is a shame, so I try to limit myself to no more than 1,200 calories. Water helps as well as eating at regular times.

for the past week i've been trying to. not sure how 'good' my meals are, but i'm trying to cut alot of the bullshit out

i eat a ham/egg/swiss sandwich minus the bread every morning, leafy greens with grilled chicken for lunch, and a steak for dinner. completely cut out pop too. water and chocolate milk only.

Well, 1,200 Calories (big C).. I dunno, it's pretty easy. Humans generally arn't used to eating that much and that's why we have a huge obesity problem in the United States... OH NO UR NOT EATING 4,000,000,000 CALORIES WITH UR MEAL..

Feel healthy, fit, and great.

I dont watch anything like carbs or fats but I can tell when my body needs certain things. I keep to a pretty balanced diet for the most part. I eat alot of meats and salad. I dont eat many sweets and I drink alot of water. I drink alot of beer too. Id say I keep about 2,000-2,500 calories a day but then I have a high metabolism so I am still thin.

Now that I am 30+ I need to watch the way I eat. Weight doesn't come off as easily so a pound gained is gonna be 10 times harder to lose than when I was in my 20's.
I have been staying within a 1200 - 1400 calorie range per day, no more than 150 carbs total and 70 grams of protein minimum.
I use Fitday.com, which is free, and I track what I eat and if I am meeting nutritional guidlines daily.
I can tweak what I *think* I might eat during the day, and if it won't fit into my caloric intake, I supplement something else.
I don't always have good days where I make all the right choices, I am human after all. Being able to figure out what I can and can't eat at the beginning of the day seems to work for me.

p.s. I still am able to fit in 2 Hersheys Dark Chocolate Nuggets with Almonds, once a day. :)
p.s.s. Did you know coffee is a source of Vitamin K?

I think in some cases, worrying about what you're eating is going to be worse for you than just not being hungry. Myself, I'm fairly active (manual labor job and tennis every night ftw!) so I eat more or less whatever I want, unless I look at the nutritional thing and it's just horrible (like ramen or those Swanson meals).

I live off of pop tarts.... It's sad. Although I do not think I have an eating disorder, 50% of the time, looking/smelling food will make me feel sick.

I have not been bulimic for about 8 months now. But hardly ever eat. I'll wake up, eat a pop tart. That's about it. Either something is wrong with me or, I have an eating disorder and am in denial. I am 130 pounds now at 5’7. I know I am not fat so I don’t know how I could have an eating disorder if I don’t think I need to lose weight. I do probably need to work out more and tone up so I actually have muscles but that’s about it.

Is there a disease where you don’t eat? I’m not sure what to do. If there is…ugh, no medical…

Salad, chicken, ground beef, turkey, salad, chicken, ground beef, turkey, salad, low-carb wraps, low-carb dressing, lots of cheese, salad, chicken, ground beef, turkey, every once in a while sandwich bread or pasta, salad, chicken, ground beef, turkey.

Did I mention salad, chicken, ground beef and turkey?

I try to eat around 3,000 calories a day when I'm active (read: when I'm at school where there are enough gyms around that I don't have an excuse not to work out). I tried eating 5 smaller meals a day for about a month this past year, and I gave up because I hate grocery shopping and because it took entirely too much time.

I've slacked off this summer in regards to diet. Recently cut diet soda out in addition to regular. However the company I worked for deemed it necessary to feed us excessively, and coupled with my lack of activity, I've picked up about 12 lbs since the end of May (at 189 right now). Should take about a month and a half to drop...

Yes. It's called anorexia nervosa.

But that's not what this thread is about.

I would say one pop tart a day isn't healthy. (if that's all you eat)

Right now... My metabolism is working so hard that I find myself eating twice what I did two years ago.

At this point; I lose body fat whatever I eat... Its a bit scary.

I have the physique where I don't have to try to stay trim.
But I can see what's going to go wrong with it (internally and visually) if I don't sort out the way I eat.
Eating healthily seems so dire and bland compared to wolfing down a big mac or Cheese on toast.

The downside of this is you get drunk quicker, are affected by drugs quicker (which in turn are purged from your system quicker), and you won't last long in a situation where you lack sufficient food.

Wow I know half a billion woman, including myself, who would LOVE to be able to say that!

What I do though, is usually I eat what I want but in very small portions. And I like to walk. I consider shopping part of my walking exercize.

Though occasionally I do splurge and have a naughty treat like cheesecake or something.

Teeoncy, you proudly posted the other day about eating a Big n Tasty from McDonalds.

I've had friends with severe eating disorders who would do everything they could to avoid eating iceberg lettuce with water, much less a fucking McDonald's hamburger.

Give me a break.

I eat whatever I want and don't gain much weight.

When I'm in the habit of lifting I'll try and eat a lot more tuna and pasta for the protein and carbs. That's about as conscious as I get about what I eat.

I have recently had a horrible introduction to acid reflux and let me tell you that was worse then labor! I for the last few days have eaten nothing but boring bland food.

On the whole though I am not a meat eater at all, if and when I do it is chicken or pork. I am heavy on spices though and devour anything hot hot.

Down with acid reflux! I am looking forward to being able to drown my food in tabasco sauce again.

I've recently significantly cut down on my alcohol consumption. Pop has been out of my diet for the last year. I try to cut bad stuff and incorporate good stuff in. So far, so good.

I didn't have a weight problem to begin with, but you know.. I don't want to have to worry about that shit when I'm 50.

<<I have not been bulimic for about 8 months now.>>

...

Wow.

<<I am 130 pounds now at 5’7.>>

You weigh more, and are shorter, than a fit 15-year-old boy.

<<Is there a disease where you don’t eat?>>

Anorexia.

Keeping off caffiene has been my biggest struggle lately, mostly in soda. I've been getting withdrawl headaches (if you've ever had one, you know they are a bitch to deal with), and I've been feeding it this week, unfortunately.

Other than that, just getting on a good regimen of eating healthy portions and spreading the portions out evenly is starting to have an effect. I don't have the time nor the inclination to count calories, but I'm pretty sure I'm around 2000-3000 every day, which is probably still not enough for me, since I'm hitting the gym 4 times a week.

The most important things I look out for are: sat fats, trans fats (modified unsaturated fats), cholesterol, salt intake, and making sure I am getting sufficient minerals, like iron and calcium.
