Man dies after online game marathon (http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/asiapcf/08/09/game.death.reut/index.html)

SEOUL, South Korea (Reuters) -- A South Korean man who played computer games for 50 hours almost non-stop died of heart failure minutes after finishing his mammoth session in an Internet cafe, authorities said on Tuesday.

His soul is probably wondering where to go to get rezzed.

If life is so bad that a person would spend 50 hours non-stop in a computer generated fantasy land only to perish from heart failure at the end of it all... then damn. I really don't know what else to say to that without coming off harsh.

Dude bit the dust hard.

Right up there with the couple that let their baby die alone in their home while playing at an internet cafe.

These are some sick and crazy gamers.

[Edited on 8-9-2005 by Gridlock] After I posted that I was thinking that maybe he was a power leveler or some shit like that. Still a retarded way to go and a big chunk of life lost if that was what he did for a living.

I don't know. I wouldn't mind getting paid to play games all day. If I was getting paid an hour what I do now? Playing WoW? I'd be all over that! :D

However would I obsess and work 50 hours straight? Hell no. That's an overachiever regardless of what he was doing.

If this was for fun? Well I hope he had plenty of it on his way out. Would be kinda funny and sad at the same time if his character had just died.

I'll put this in here cause it was funny and kinda-sorta related. Kinda.

So it's official. The human body can only handle 50 hours straight of online gaming. Now to convince one's self to quit after 49.

His soul is probably wondering where to go to get rezzed.

More likely, his soul is accusing his body of hacking.

There was a group in FFXI on my server. All their names started with X. The farmed in my area, 3 of them farmed gil/items for skills which equaled gil and the last guy camped the spawn area for a good drop item. I would always ask them to leave and try to start trouble, just because I NEEDED to be there and they didn't

So finally one of them /Tells me, Look, I understand you are playing this for fun in the states, but right now, I must do this so my family can survive, please, my boss is in the spawn area, don't start any trouble.

That was the freakiest shit I ever saw in a MMO... But yea, there are plenty of games you can make 30-40 grand off if you work for 40-60 hours a week... Just need to know the ropes before you quit your job and start playing games for life!
