It really isnt hard.
You just press the "quote" button at the top of the post you wish to quote.

Failing that, you can manually insert text that you are cutting and pasting by typing [ quote ] and [ /quote ] before and after respectively (without the space between the brackets and the word quote).

Honestly, using << and >> to highlight a quote is lazy, messy and just fucking stupid.

Dont do it kids.

It's not big and it's not clever.

Guilty as charged. I'm lazy.

I keep Showal at a table while he's resting so he's not a distraction to other people.

I'll never do it again. I'm sorry.

I was actively attempting that and I accomplished my mission. Anyways, I've learned to quote, as you can see.

Oh I have one!

When quoting, remove parts of the quoted post that have nothing to do with what you will be responding to. Seeing someone respond to a huge post with one or two sentences that's related to only a very small section of the post can make it frustrating to follow.

Yeah...and 15 layers of quotes are not good.

Too bad.

<<Oh I have one!

Yep, that's a good one.

I do the << >> style of quoting at times when I want to post a response really quick. Guilty as charged. I never considered myself to be lazy for doing it, but I now see the error of my prior infractions. I have also punished myself, see...

Me -> :whipit: <- Me

<< >> is very far from laziness. It saves so much space compared to having a quote block. Those things fucking blow.

It's more convenient if you're just trying to highlight a certain aspect of a post. That's usually when I use it.

Oh, and another one... when people quote someone, who's quoting someone, who's quoting someone, who's quoting someone, who's quoting someone, who's quoting someone, who's quoting someone, etc....

I concur, Jonty.

You can quote only parts of posts as well.

You can quote only parts of posts as well.

You can also, lie and be caught, think it's cool. Realize everyone knows you're an attention whore with a crappy warrior. But it doesn't make it right.

And take up a ton of fucking space.

Is this what "Trolling" means?

By the way, it wasn't an insult directed at Hulkein.

You forgot to mention, Nien, your famous technique of inserting your own humor and other <blah, blah, blah> items into other people's quotes which really contradicts the concept of quoting to begin with.

I find this thread really funny (ironic) [hypocritical] coming from you. Perhaps you should brush up on your quoting style as well.

If you read all the quotes in my thread, you may figure that out. :D

<< >> is just as effective and saves space.

Yeah, I honestly don't have a problem with it either way. Both are easy to read.

I don't mind which method people use to quote either. Only time it's annoying is when a huge post is quoted and the response is a one-liner, or when, like Jonty mentioned, that they quote a long requoted post.

Other than that, Bob is right that the quote method can take up quite a bit of space, but I generally like it cause it's neater. Different stokes for different folks. ;)
