View Full Version : Make my new company logo

I've started my own business and would like a company logo that will go on our business cards, letter head, website and all collateral. I can hire someone, but I thought it would be more fun this way.

Details:

Company name: Airtight Systems, Inc.

We are a company that will be working with air conditioning systems.

Winner will get some sort of reward.. be it cash, GS money or WoW money. It's not going to be a lot, so don't bother hiring someone to do it for you because you'll lose money on the deal. I need logo in a .jpg format.

What style you going for? Classy, clean, and professional? Or a tad casual?

Give me some more here.

Color schemes in mind?

So fucking Metro.

Let's see..

No color schemes in mind. (I don't care if the logo matches my shoes)
More on the professional side than casual. I want this logo to be on all communications. We will be working in conjunction with a very large utility in the area.

Whats the deadline for submissions?

Well, I just got the business license yesterday and I've filed for my EIN.. so I say 2 weeks? We aren't going to start doing actual "work" for another 2 months, but I want to get everything up and ready so we are all ready when the green light is given.

And for all you would-be designers out there... Yswithe and I spoke about this client/designer relationship last night. I think we agreed though Yswithe has to back this up...

A designer’s job is to make the product how the designer sees it and tell the client to shut up when they want to interject with ideas. Designers are designers for a reason. Clients are not designers. They are not trained to be designers. Designers are trained to be designers. Clients can obviously accept or decline any design based on their own aesthetics, and a designer may suck, but the most harmonious relationship between a good client and a good designer is the client trusting the designer to represent and sell for the client no matter what the client thinks.

I suppose this is advice to the clients too. I’ve seen too many good design concepts get tossed out the window for lesser concepts because the client had bad taste.

Maria and I worked together on the idea and then i let her fly and make suggestions but since i hired her i still kept final say. If i'm a client and i tell someone what i'm hiring them for and they argue, i'll just hire someone else

Thats fine. But ultimately you really should leave the job to the professionals if you want a good product.

Do you tell Masarati how to build cars?

Well, understanding the clients needs is the first step. If they tell you what they want, be prepared to give it to them. If it sucks, and they want you to change it, that's what revisional provisions are in contracts for.

Personally, I think if you're a kick ass designer, your clients will find you. (just submit posters, gallery exhibits, etc.).

Seriously, I can chirp all day about why blue lettering on a red background is a bad idea, but it's up to them. (I would just try to be more selective of who you do work for, if you can)

You should use "The power to make it better" as your slogan.

Airtight Systems Inc. You should really consider chopping that down to just Airtight for the logo. You can put the whole long line of Airtight Systems Inc. somewhere else on your stationary.

How about

"Airtight Systems, we'll blow you for less than anyone else!"
"Airtight Systems, we blow harder than anyone else!"
"Airtight Systems, we don't suck as much as the others."

PS, can you get me a good deal on a nice house AC unit? I want one that'll make me see frost on the windows...

"Pucker Factor" keeps coming to mind when I think of the name of your company. Since my Dad's an ex-AF jockey I heard that alot in his every day jargon.

I'll see if I can think of something witty to accompany that angle.

Wait a minute! How in the hell can PB (who is old and thus wearing depends) start a business about preventing leaks? Doesn't make sense.

Not to post anything offensive to you Wezas, but that dog's big smile looks like it just released some major gas. Good thing that fan is there.

I'm thinking PB might be "no" on the mummification bondage of male youths in their 20s, Wezas. Consider your customers!

I will most certainly post the winning logo.. so keep them coming.

And no Wezas.. none of your personal young mail bondage porno will make it as our logo.

I'll back up Sergey on this one, Maria is a very talented artist.

I'd make the requisite age joke here, but eh...

Thank you very much. But I must respectfully disagree even though you are a woman and women have taste... it gets too busy with the cross.

LOL. I WISH my mini-van could do that!

I finally just did the logo myself. Basically, it's like 3 wavy blue lines over the words.

Airtight
Systems

Nothing fancy, but since we won't be needing a website or anything that dramatic.. no need to worry that much about our logo.

Whatever you go with, PB, stick with it for life. Consumer recognition in the maturity of a company often sells more than the products themselves.

If you need print and web ready files, let me know. And post what you came up with already!
