is it just me, or do a lot of the elder characters in otf and the rift really suck?

otf for example. there are a few people that wander around hunting, for cash and exp for TPs. they will come in and out of a room you are stunned in, prone, etc, and just keep going. no stopping to say hey, how you doin? unstun, help out, nothing.

then there is the rift. most people seem ok, because they zombie there while not hunting, but today, i was hunting. come into a room with a box in it. peered in all 4 directions. nobody in any room. its fair game as far as i'm concerned. lunatic comes in, i kill it, and someone walks in, already loaded down so much he's dragging a box around. picks up the box, and walks off. i go find him, and before i say anything but Sir? he goes into this elaborate story about how the box is his, he asked so and so (who obviously doesnt bother picking up boxes) if he can have his boxes from the hunt. so he was walking around, and grabbing up boxes in rooms, this time, taking the box out of the room i'm currently in. and how would he know if it was that other guys? i mean come on, maybe it came from a critter i just killed.

anyway. wtf. people are so fucking petty these days. i think i'm about done

I'm not arguing the fact that a lot of people suck, because they do, but as far as OTF, when I'm going to aqueducts on a character and have to run through griffins and adepts to get there, I'm not going to stop if I see someone stunned. 1 dead person is better than 2.

A shitload of people script-hunt OTF. The end.

That's probably because end-game gameplay in GS is stupid.

Nodyre's a fucking tool. One of the biggest retards in this game. Secondly, GS isn't exactly that hard. Especially since the EN came out difficult or challenging hunting no longer is a must like it used to be. People can be dumb from level 1-100 now.

TheRoseLady
08-04-2005, 05:58 PM
Not that it matters, but I was thinking Nodyre is a rogue and they are always begging for boxes in the rift. I almost certain you were going to say Herektir. That guy is a whiner.

As far as the walking by stunned people:

I tend to have the mentality that you shouldn't rely on other characters for help. I should be able to look after myself and if I mess up or get unlucky and get stunned then I'll accept it and go with it, not get all pissy if people walk by me and dont drop what they're doing to help me. It's part of what makes the game challenging for me I suppose.

I'll treat other characters the same way, usually I won't bother with them. It's their hunt, and if they're hunting OTF or the Rift then they're big enough to look after themselves.

StrayRogue

Personally, I wouldn't want to alienate anyone in an area where my gear can be stolen so very easily.

SayGoodbye
08-04-2005, 06:11 PM
I would view it as me keeping to myself and at the same time not expecting anything from them.

If that alienates people then they're too sensitive.

Edited to add: Also if it were a matter of returning someones gear to them, then yes, I would help. But I was commenting walking by stunned characters.

If I ever see someone laying on the ground stunned with a critter in the room... that critter is going to the f'ing afterlife.

Thats just the way I play... granted I won't unstun the person because I generally lack of the tools needed to do so!

Exactly. And if you did that to me I'd offer you no help returning that precious trinket you just lost to a gremloc. I'm sure others would do the same also.

I will always help folks if they are stunned or some such. You can take the position that no one should need help at that level, but as Stay said...you probably don't want to alienate yourself too badly.

I always stop to help when I hunt OTF, then again I've never exactly been a script hunter.

i'm not talking about where people are going to/from areas to hunt in. i mean in places off the main roads. and yes, i know a lot of them script hunt, and i understand that. also i dont expect people to come help, but it would be nice sometimes. especially when its people who's ass i've saved many times in the tower/temple.

I don't hunt the Rift, so I cannot comment on that, but I will unstun in TK/Harbs.

Also, Herektir is more of a bitch than a bitch. I swear I have never heard anyone bitch more than him, and I used to hang out with Tayre, and that says alot.

Atlanteax
08-04-2005, 06:29 PM
I generally will double-back to unstun, or enage the critters, or simply just pull someone up, if I wander past (while hunting in OTF) and saw that they were vulnerable.

There's of course, some that I do not care for, so I just carry on as if I did not see them.

I'm pretty fast with my macros and short scripts (4-5 lines long), but am not an AFK script hunter.

OreoElf
08-04-2005, 06:36 PM
Yea I usually stop to help unless its my char's enemy, someone that's warn interacted me or gm's have told me to ignore/avoid, or if I'm using a traveling script and therefore don't see them

Heshinar
08-04-2005, 06:48 PM
To me since I know a LOT of muds and play a few I find the player interaction the best here. Yes if it is someone I tagged red I wont stop. Heck if I think I can get away with it I will stop and laugh at their misfortune but that is ONLY RP not being a jerk.

As I tell those I have actually introduced myself to I am a bit of a scoundrel and a knave.

But if it is someone I do not know or someone green lighted in my text strings I stop as fast as I can.

I have the same mentality, but I still stop to help others. I just hold my characters to a higher standard and don't expect their help.

And hey.... my characters don't suck. They're totally nice ... once you get to know them.

First and Last post from the player of Nodyre.

Dazmar, that box was found by Koleph. I saw him loot the critter that had it so I chased him down to ask him for permission to grab it. He had briefly left the room to finish off a running naisirc. He kindly allowed me to take it so I ran and grabbed it. The fact that you somehow think it was yours is irrelevant. It wasn't.

And to speak of pettiness...
...hell, I've got better things to do than point out the obvious pettiness in your smearing of my name. And to the guy who thinks the character I play is a tool -- or perhaps that I am a tool -- please, grow up. Constructive criticism is one thing, but callous remarks such as that are totally ridiculous. If I've offfended you somehow, contact me at hebrewtoyou@gmail.com. Or, if you prefer AIM, HebrewToYou.

[EDITED AT REQUEST OF NAMED PLAYER]

So, Dazmar, if you doubt my claim, ASK KOLEPH.
My integrity should not be in question.

And shame on you, Stray Rogue.
One of the biggest retards in the game, huh?
I think your adolescent remarks speak for themselves.
I hope you get some therapy.

Don't bother replying. I don't check this website.
So speaketh the Hebrew.

 You know the unregistered readership must be rather large. Not sure why people hold their nose when they post a rebuttal - as if we're a bunch of miscreants. Proclaiming that this is your first and last post is gauche.

For the record, I haven't any problem with Nodyre in the rift. He's been pretty nice.

I can verify that we have a huge number of what might be called "looky-loos". There are always guests reading. I guess, when they read something about themselves that they feel needs to be cleared up, or requires some other response, they register to give their take on it.

You can tell the scriptors, they just come and go, come and go, come and go...never stop for healing, a disk..to say hi...just come and go, come and go.

For those that like a challenge, isn't there in the works a 100+ level hunting ground? You will be permanently uphunting. There is a difference between hard and stupid.

I personally think getting gear stolen is pretty rough, though it does force people to either immediately depart, or use throw away gear. Creatures ambushing with feras weapons also sounds pretty tough.

Plane 5 has creatures that use focused implosion. That sounds pretty damned hard too when random open voids are all over the place.

I always hunt with throw away gear in OTF.. there is no need for anything else.

The only thing I risk losing in OTF is a 5x shield. I'm open handed casting so gear loss is minimal at best. No major magical item/trinkets that can be pulled and I try to keep my gem satchel empty as well. With that said, most times I just depart when I know that no one else is in the area when I'm up there. Why waste the time waiting for no one to come.

Drinin
08-27-2005, 11:22 PM
If I find someone stunned in the Aqueduct I'll drag them a room away and watch them until the stun drops. Drinin isn't too social of a guy, so I don't make a point of talking with random people about random shit. If I die in OTF it's not like I have anything to lose. My spare small statues (assuming I have any) are kept double bagged, and my weapon dissipates upon my death (no shield). The only things that I wear that could be stolen are my gold ring (do they even steal these?) and my FWI transport item (doubtful that ithzir will steal these).

Kitsun
08-27-2005, 11:24 PM
Ithzir can take hunting gear out of hand but for magical trinkets, I've only seen them take it from containers.

Sean of the Thread
08-28-2005, 12:16 AM
They have taking a pinworn magical "serpent coiled cloak clasp"(I think that's close to the description) from my corpse before. I was wearing it at the time.

Kitsun
08-28-2005, 12:51 AM
Well then I stand corrected.

I just realized I don't normally wear magical trinkets for them to steal, which would explain it... =/
