Got a quick question about training for two-weapon use. Must you train both in TWC and OHE/OHB to use the weapons to your best ability?

TWC defaults to your other weapons... So if you want to use OHBs in your off hand, you need OHB training... So if you do brawling and TWC, all you can do is two brawling weapons...

Oh ok thought so, so if I want to swing 2 short swords, I have to double in TWC and OHE correct?

Yes.
You don't have to double TWC, I know some rangers who get away with 1x or 1.5x. If you are playing a rogue or a warrior you should definately 2x.

If one doesn't keep TWC at the same as their OHE/OHB, they get a negative bonus on their off-hand AS, right (so 2x TWC if 2x'ing OHE/OHB)?

I'm suprised you can get away with not maxing it. It totally kills your off hand AS if you don't. I suppose if you are using a heavy crit weight weapon in your main hand, or ambushing for that matter, then the off hand doesnt need to have high AS.

What I'd be more concerned about is the appreciable amount of times a less-than-maxed TWC-er will fail to find an opening with the offhand, especially when uphunting. Essentially, the character would be spending more TPs to be less effective in combat.
Then again, I have not played a TWCer.

Yea, that's what I meant, if TWC isn't maxxed, will it effect the swing.

Alright, I just wanted to chime in on this topic cause I'm always hearing that 2xing TWC is mandatory in order to be effective.
I'm a OHE/brawling TWC rogue, and 1x TWC is doing me just fine. At 45 trains, the AS difference between my main weapon, and off-hand weapon is like 15 or 16 points, which is hardly noticable when the first weapon either knocks the critter down, or chops a hand off. Yes, I ambush.
As far as the success rate with hitting with your offhand-weapon against older and like-level critters.. I'm not a numbers person, but from what I've read, 1xing in TWC gives me a 15% or so chance to miss with my offhand weapon... which, to me, is neglible.. That still gives me a 70% chance to hit critters when uphunting.. 15% chance to miss, 15% chance for the critter to evade/block/parry. I've noticed that about 10-15% of the time, I'll miss with my first weapon, and death-crit with my offhand weapon against like-level critters.
What I do love about TWC is taking out a left leg, and a right hand in one swing consistantly. Or two legs, or two hands. Not to mention that shields are just so so boring.
Yeah at 1.5x you can still uphunt fairly well and your AS (as long as you're not a giant) will only be about 20-30 points off at level 50, maybe even a bit less.
