I think its been posted up before, but can someone tell me the formula for producing the lowest magical hindrance for a particular circle. I know the hindrance for doubles is 4% (wizard circle), and in order to lose the movement hindrance I have to train in armor 8 times. There used to be a formula calculating the number of trains required to retain the lowest magical hindrance. (i.e. 4% for doubles – wizard circle).
Thanks.

You need (20 * hindrance) - 10 in bonus of Armor Training. 4% * 20 = 80 - 10 = 70 = 10 ranks (50) + 5 ranks (20) = 15 ranks.

Last question - its a sliding scale right on the ranks per skill points?
First 10 trains gets you 5 points per rank, next 10 trains get you 4 points per rank..

00 for robes
04 for fulls
15 for doubles
27 for LBP
35 for Cuirb
I haven't worn heavier than that but I think it's 70 for Reinforced and 130 for brig.

After doin the calcs - I was going to shoot for LBP. I know there is only one additional hindrance between LBP and Cuir, but I just can't squeeze out 8 addition ranks to get there.

Yeah from LBP to cuirb you're looking at over 100 ptps to get rigid on your arms. I used to wear cuirb and if I find some uber arm greaves I might go back as I'm sitting on 163 ptps right now that I'm not using.

Pulling this back up, for quick verification. These 15 ranks are in addition to the 8 ranks needed to train off the normal hindrance RT of doubles, right? So a wiz would need 23 ranks of armor use to cover base RT hindrance and spell hindrance?

No, 15 ranks covers it all. See my list above. That's total ranks you'd need.

Ahhhh, right. Ok, so my next question is, what if the ranks needed to train off magical hindrance is less the that needed to train off base RT? (Say, for doubles...one needs 8 ranks to train off the RT, but for a sorc to train off the 2% hindrance, they only need 6 ranks. Would 8 ranks be all they'd need?)

You need 8 ranks to train off all the penalties for doubles for a sorcerer. To be specific, the RT only requires 6 ranks, whereas the maneuver penalties require 8 ranks to be minimized.

Right. Excellent. Thanks!
(And sorry I brought up a sorcerer in the wizard category...I just figured I'd use the thread that was already made instead of making a new one. :) )

I just came back from like a 7 year break from playing and was wondering if this armor training will completely remove spell hinderances from armor or just give wizzies the lowest hinderance for the armor?

You can't remove hinderance, only train it to the minimum. The percentages listed are the minimum, and that's what's used in the 20*hinderance-10 formula.
