Ok, I need help. Last weekend I got really sunburnt on my shoulders and chest. Yesterday it started to peel. Anyone know of any great ways to help the process speed up?!

Many women I know have this obsession with tanning. I just don’t get it. I like an exotic beauty as much as the next guy, but I’ve seen so many chicks go through this burning routine and its just messing up their skin. Whats the deal with the desire to be dark?

I didn't BURN ON PURPOSE. I was at six flags and I had a base so I was shocked I burnt. I usually never burn.

I think it's because it not only looks nice, it also looks healthy. For good reason too, sun exposure produces vitamin D ... so a tan person can be healthier than someone who's not. That doesn't mean you should obsess over it because too much exposure is unhealthy.

I'd much prefer to moisturize the hell out of the sunburnt areas, rather than painfully rub it off.

The Vitamin D argument had been used too often if you ask me. It's not that hard to get your RDA of vitamin D through diet if you are that concerned by it.

I am definitely an advocate for avoidance of sun exposure. I'd rather be pale than have sun damaged wrinkled dry skin at best, skin cancer at worst.

Stay out of the direct sun from 12-2pm at least (11am-3pm is best) and always wear high factor sun screen! You can get a nice light tan without cooking your skin!

If you do get sunburnt, moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! Try to keep your skin as hydrated as possible and keep burnt skin away from the sun. /lecture. ;)

Gah.. I'm Eastern European so I battle with being ridiculously pale on a yearly basis (fuck, it's hard for us Warsaw Pacters to tan), but when I do work on the tan and do happen to get burned, first and formost.. Moisturize that skin. Don't rub it off with a towl, that's just plainly obscene!

Pale can also be hot. But yeah if you're burnt lotion is the way to go, get a lotion with oatmeal in it, soothes the skin.

Pale can be hot.. On women or guys with dark hair and love the emo look. I can't pull it off no mater how hard I try. Everyone was always like.. "Damn, Luke, you're one pale son of a bitch"

Yah, don't rub it off! Moisturize it to death, and you wont get that nasty scaly effect when it dries out and you've been rubbing it.

My personal favorite is Vitamin E Gel for sunburns. I try to apply it every 3 hours. I haven't burnt alot but when I do, I also tend to take some tylenol to help as well.

I agree with you, Miss X. But sun exposure, in moderation, is pretty healthy. I in no way advocate tanning the shit out of your body. My girlfriend's little sister, she's 16, and she goes tanning 2-3 times a week, all year round. It's winter and she's basically looking like Tijay. Nevermind the fact that she's starting to get sun spots on her body. I think pale is pretty hot.

We have this green Aloe Vera spray gel stuff. It works pretty good. Staying out of the sun after being burnt is a *very* good idea.

Someone said it ... Aloe vera. You can get pure Aloe gel at any healthfood store (people actually want to ingest it for some reason). Pure Aloe gel works best.

I rarely burn but I swear my wife and kids are part Irish, if not full.
