Have a gander (http://media.filmforce.ign.com/media/490/490104/vids_1.html)
Seems to sort of stay on track untill they toss in the "we found the other 10% of the human genome", as apposed to having a portal to hell supported by religious psychopaths.
Considering how much of a Doom enthusiast I am, I'm looking forward to seeing it.....but I can't help get the feeling of "Starship Troopers" about it all.

This movie has been a long time coming.
Unfortunately, The Rock, is someone that I don't see fitting the persona as the nameless, silent, sole surving space marine. Not to mention, I'm not really a fan of The Rock.. at all.
That being said.. I think Bruce Willis (if he wasn't like 80) would have been a much better choice. I hope they don't make it ridiculously dumb like the Resident Evil movies though.

PS: I heard there was also a Metroid movie in the works.

I would have just been all, "IDSPISPOPD, bitches."
A classic this great definately need not be murdered.

Ha!! Classic.... Smashing Pumpkins Into Small Piles Of Putrid Debris.
Well after Doom 3 came out I figured the movie would have to be following shortly, and more than likey The Rock will give a performance similar to his previous roles (Hopefully nothing like the fruitcake he was in Be Cool)

Yeah the rock doesn't really strike me as the Doom guy either... although I can't think of anyone better...
I'm from Buenos Aires and I say KILL THEM ALL!!! heh.
The metroid movie is going to be done by John Woo... I'm really looking forward to that (please do it right)
The Doom Marine.. Hrm.. Who's good that comes to mind?
Definately someone that wouldn't be all "tough and gun ho", I always pictured the guy as "Hudson" from Aliens. Y'know.. a tough son of a bitch, but really doesn't want to be there and is only hardcore because he's stuck. That's why Bruce Willis.. He always looks hungover.
Umm.. Anyway.. Who would be good... Hrm.. Not sure, but not The Rock.

Who was that guy in "Soldier"
I forget his name, but he's probably "too old" for the role now... but he has consistently done a great job in military/destruction -themed roles.

Kurt Russel man, and he didn't talk a hell of a lot. Three lines or something, and no fruity eyebrow movements.
Do you think Dolph Lungren (Close enough spelling!!) would be better or worse than The Rock.
Much better if he didn't talk. The Marine should maybe throw out a bit of one liners or something, but less face it, that would make for a really shitty movie. The game is the game, but a movie DOES need some dialogue.

I think the Rock's just fine for the role. I just... am not sure the script won't suck.

it looks like Resident Evil 3. Umbrella takes mars.

I really wasn't expecting to see tons of people all over the place, but I suppose they had to give it more plot.

The rock is playing Sarge, he's not the "main character" from the game. He is the only celebrity buying power this movie really has to offer, but again, he's not the main character.
The "name" of the space marine that the movie is going to be filmed, partially first person from what I've read to simulate the game is John Grimm played by Karl Urban.
I didn't watch the trailer, so I guess I could be wrong, but that's what i've heard and IMDB agrees.

There is no way a Metroid movie would be good. Give special effects 10 more years plz. They'll probably just throw Angelina Jolie in and hope her boobs can save the day.
I think the Rock will do well in the movie. He's been witty and entertaining in his previous action roles and hopefully the script writers will take advantage of this for this movie.
Dolph Lundgren is too damn old, so is Arnold, so is Stallone. Bruce Willis, eh maybe, he had a good role similar in Tears of the Sun. One would think Wesley Snipes, Ving Rhames or Michael Clarke Duncan would be good if the marine was not depicted as caucasian in the game... I would even say Wil Smith but his performance is too dialogue dependant.

I think you just described Gordon Freeman.

John Grimm? The Doom guy's name B.J. Blazkowitz or something like that isn't it?
If they can't even get the main character's name right (if your post is accurate), then I don't have much hope for the movie itself.
And it better have a BFG and lots of exploding barrels.

I've never played doom 3, damn having to pay for video game crap, so I don't know if they named him in that one. To the best of my knowledge in Doom 1 and 2, which the movie is "more closely based on" his name was Marine.
That just my memory, and I could be very wrong.
B.J. Blazkowitz (w00t, finally a Pollack is a well known hero!) is everyone's favorite Nazi killer. You're thinking of the Wolfenstein guy.

WOah! I read this over further. John Grimm is *NOT* the Space Marine. The Space Marine was not special forces.. Just a hapless marine!
Knee deep in the dead mother fuckers!

PS: Doom II was the greatest game of all time.

I hope our favorite Eddie Munster look-alike gets the role. He could run up to those armless guys with big mouths and be like "IMMA TAKE YOU OUT TO THE DESERT!!!"

You better not tell him he's too short for the role, either.

Pinkies. I'll definately be jumping out of my movie seat when one of those freaky bastards makes a guest appearance.
I also really, really hope that the BFG 9000 is in it and just rocks shit hardcore.
I expect to see pleanty of zombie marines and imps. Of course the Cyberdemon will be in this movie as well, that goes without saying. The older cyberdemon.. not the new punk thing.

Berserking was pretty cool. Making zombie marines and imps explode into eight-bit puddles... Where have the good times gone?
Spiderdemons. It must have spiderdemons...

It's been said before. And being said now.
WHY THE ROCK?
But I really look forward to the movie anyways.

I read the first, second, and third doom books way back in like, 6th grade. His name is John Grimm. And there's room for a sequal if it follows the books at all. (although sequals to action movies suck with a few exceptions.)
Edited: Having seen the trailer, it doesn't follow the books at all. So I lose at life.

I think if Bruce Campbell would bulk up, and gain like 50 pounds of pure muscle, he would have made the best lead for the part (purely on his ability to deliver the one-liners)

That trailer made me think of Resident Evil. Now with that said, I liked Resident Evil so I'll probably like this movie.

Just curious, have you ever played any Resident Evil games before watching the movie?
On an unrelated note, anyone remember this?

Ron Jeremy looks pissed. It's perfect. I imagined Mario looking like that after you beat Mario 64. You go through that hell and do you get laid? Fuck no. You don't get a curtain close in front of you with the Princess on your nuts like in Zelda II: Link's Awakening. What do you get? A cake. A goddamn, motherfuckin' cake. Perfect picture.

Just like how Link always tried to get some ass on Fridays but Zelda was just a dumb cunt.
She can save her own ass next time. Same with Princess Toadstool. Fuck "Peach".
Princess was getting entirely too much dick from Luigi. Then again, Luigi was always cooler.

That was a tough level (It's sad that I can point it out), but I did. I can beat Doom on the second hardest mode (Nightmare is impossible), so fuck ya'll.

That level wasn't too difficult, you just get the Mastermind and the Cyberdemon to pwn each other while you take out the lil Acheron things and the Manucbi (Hmmm plural).
As for more bloody Video Games going movie
