View Full Version : 2x Physical Training?

Is doubling PT really worth it for an ambushing rogue? Sure it raises redux and boosts stamina, but not all by much IMO to spend the training points on.

For instance, according to Tsoran's spreadsheet calculations (using my rogue's stats and training)...

Level 1xPT 2xPT
20 0% 11.3%
40 19.8% 22.4%
60 28.3% 33.1%
80 38.9% 45.1%
100 49.6% 57.3%

Of course, obviously the difference between 1x vs 2x PT is a small difference in the amout of damage reduced and how early you can reach redux. Only thing I see it to matter most is the crit level of the hit, but that's all what armor you're wearing, where the hit was, and luck.

After all, an ambushing rogue is hidden most of the time anyway, rogues are great dodgers, and if found hidden would be in defensive stance (unless of course you're stuck in offensive if you silent strike cause of RT).

So what do you all think?

I'm probably going to go 1.5x PT to gain a little more redux. The crit factor is negligible due to him wearing metal breast plate. I'd just like to know I'm taking advantage of as much redux as reasonable for times when I decide to take on more than one critter in a given room.

My goal is 1.5x as a Ranger, I'd aim for that as well.

I always singled in PF until the last 3 trains for my rogue and now that I've picked up 8 more ranks I noticed a difference in my redux. It was amazing how much better it was for me with more then 1x PF. I'd recommend it if you have the points to throw into it.

i think that you should know that tsoran's spread sheet is totally off redux wise. it says at 48, my rogue's redux, with his training, will be 33.9%. my rogue, at 48, with his training, has 61-63% redux.

as for 2x PT, DO IT. it is worth it for the redux. the only thing i could reccomend besides 2xing PT is getting into a plate armor

fuck hiding, its for pussies.

At 58, Stunseed is near 40 percent ( Pre-fixskills, I haven't checked since I did some tweaks ) and that's at 1.25x PF.

Hiding is a good strategy when you're a rogue and trained for it. I admit that Jolena usually fights in the open now but there are times when I'm dealing with a creature that's 20 trains or more above her level and she will stance dance and hide/ambush over and over to kill it. It's effective when you need it.

Hide/Ambush/Loot

-or-

attack/attack/attack/attack/loot

which would you rather do?

Hide/Ambush/loot ftw. Less RT, more murdering, faster fry time.

ambush neck loot ftw.

LESS RT, more murder, faster fry every time. sorry renian, you lose.

or for me, rub harness, hurl. do it in 4 seconds rather than 6

Oh, speaking of redux and Physical Fitness, I have this to say. A rogue known as Nodyre is a magical rogue, sporting well over 40 spells at level 70. He 2x's Physical Fitness to make up for this.

...And has 60% redux.

Tsoran and everyone else have no fucking clue what they're talking about when they try to calculate redux. Don't trust anything but raw tests using accurate means (full plate, battle axe, highest endroll possible). Even then, you should have at least 10 hits and average them out, if you really care about getting a true redux reading.

That said, 2x PF is always worth it. 50% dux on my 40 warrior sporting augmented breastplate makes him a champ.

It's not worth the points.

That 6/0 would be much better applied to getting an extra rank of CM every two levels or something.
