I hate Hollywood for remaking all these movies.
With all the money they generate, you'd think they could come up with some semi-original ideas.

Definitely had an element of creepiness. I liked it. Then again I love Johnny Depp and he was great.
As much as I snickered at the Oompa Loompas, they still freaked me out. Much fun to watch though.
It's not really fair to compare it to the first one as Tim Burton obviously was going with a darker version of it. The first one was about values and learning right from wrong. Even though this one had some of that, it seemed to be geared more towards appreciating family. They overdid it once in a while, and giving WW that human side made it interesting in and of itself.

What do you think the minimum age for a kid to go see this should be?

Shaddap, Snowball, and get back on topic.
I love Johnny Depp's acting but I refuse to see the new Chocolate factory film. The first one was damn good and creepy enough.

I thought the Oompa Loompa lyrics in the new version were hard to understand. I could barely here what they were singing over all the other sound. I'm going to have to buy the book I suppose.

This is definitely something I will watch, but will probably wait for it to come out on DVD.
Which is never soon enough.

I loved it, Johnny Depp couldn't make a bad movie, I was dissapointed a few times in there, but very few. I liked the original boatride better, woulda been great to have kept that with Johnny Depp cause that woulda been a trip .

My freshman year roommate, who i hated, had a website dedicated to Willy Wonka. He has a new website and I would LOVE to see what he has to say about the new movie and his obsession with the old one.
What a waste of space. He made fliers and put them up all around the school so people would visit his website. He came back to the room one day all upset because he found stacks and stacks of his fliers in the trash.
That said, I can't wait to see this one. Johnny Depp is pretty good at being creepy.

I liked it. And I am a big fan of the original. It was just enough of a change up from the original to make it interesting. I guess that the only thing I missed was a bit more background and interaction with the "spoiled" kids and their parents. I guess that the original makes me feel like I know those kids a bit better.
The only part that might be a bit unnerving for a young child is the squirrel part. Quite a bit different than the original "bad egg" scenario from the first.

From what I've heard, they said that this movie followed the book more closly than the first, I can't varify that since I don't remember reading the book or not though.
