So, on the landing thought net, someone spelled color with a u. Someone said it wasn't correct. Someone corrected the correcter and called the person who spelled it with a u she. This is what followed:
Talonas [subdued]: "im a he by the way :)"

I wish hill trolls would move to mule :(

1. You're hearing the thoughts. You can't tell if color is spelled C-O-L-O-R or C-O-L-O-U-R.

2. Emoticons are just plain retarded in GS. Do you walk around saying, "Colon closing parenthises!", or "Semi-colon closing parenthises!"?

I'm sort of glad for the landing, it keeps all these idiots out of decent towns, but I'm sad it's pretty much the only place I can go if I want to do a guild skill that requires hiding and critter reps.

I'm curious, if you hate the landing *NET* so much, why listen?

Pretty sure the British use the extra "U" in some words. Colour or honour, either is correct.

Yeah yeah, I did that on purpose, so Nyah. I work at a hockey rink and we call it Canadia to piss off the hockey director who's from Toronto.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the original (British) spelling is with the U. It is the American people who later got rid of the U to distinguish their language from the original.

As for Canada, it is taught differently depending where you grew up. I personally learned the American spellling but I have friends who learned the British spelling.

This is why I don't listen to the Landing amulet. This is also why people don't rescue me, and they yell at me when I do rescues and call them on the grey net. Apparently you're supposed to hang out on t he black net and lower your IQ in order to be a productive member of the clerical comunnity there. Or, be in Voln.

Yeah, brits say Colour.

If anyone here ever sees someone say Corea instead of Korea, kill them immediately.

I will pay part of your fine.

I am from Canadia *snicker* For all you Americia's that wouldn't know, we do spell it colour. Adhara has the right of it, it's all where you're from.

But does that really make a difference over the amulet? Nope. That smiley face was a bigger offence.

Didn't you guys (Americia's) have a president that corrected someone on the spelling of potato?

"Sorry, that's potatoe?" :moon:

I know some people get really ansty about the whole thing. I've never really cared. I generally try to adopt a more "Americanised" way of typing when dealing with you guys. I don't mind spelling it Armor, or Color etc.

Warriorbird

:nods: I see why he did it at the time, but it totally doesn't offend me when I see the British versions....except for Armour....because that looks like Amour....and that's just silly.

Why would it offend anyone to see a different version of spelling than they are used to?

(not pointing a finger at Warriorbird, they said it didn't offend...it just got me thinking)

Pretty narrow in the international perspective if it does. It's not wrong, just different.

I remember spelling Color colour on a fifth grade spelling test and getting it wrong :'(
