View Full Version : Fall Fashion
If you're in my age group, invest in distressed jeans. They'll be big for this fall( to a greater extent than they were befre). That's my prediction and I'm stick to it. Of course, if you're about to die like PB, don't follow this advice.

I think we should be taking fashion advice from Stallone

Sorry, pastel polos with collars up are still in.
I have a few pairs of distressed jeans, and a pair of destroyed denim. However, I'm thinking my wardrobe is going up another age group. I'm going to try out the Will Smith look for a bit and see how that goes (ie, warm beige tissue coat, floral patterned collared shirt with top unbuttoned, and stone blasted jeans with suede driving oxfords).
I predict pastels are going to fade out by fall, just don't see it lasting that long.. Which is shame, because I have some really nice shirts that I won't be wearing much longer if that is the case.

get over yourselves, or go play grabass with richard simmons, or something.
I'll sel distressed jeans for 150$ a pop, let me go through my old clothes and find some jeans that took me a long time to get to that point.
And it's too late, chicks are already big on the distressed jeans right now.

If you like a shirt why would you stop wearing it just because some people stop wearing it and say they're not 'in'?
If you're gonna spend the cash on these shirts from higher end stores because they're of better quality, might as well wear them long enough to find out if that's true.

yeah that ^ (some people have no common sense, though). Shiat, I agreed with Hulkein.
All I am trying to say, is set your own fucking style, don't follow the herd like a god-damn sheep.
If like big hair from the 80's.. Go ahead and wear it.. But people are going to snicker.
I agree that you should customize your wardrobe in a way that expresses you, but follow some guidelines. If you don't you just look like "that guy that couldn't make it and now started his bigger and better thing"

People have been saying pastels are going to be out for the last 3 years running, and I don't see an end in sight for awhile. Especially with the resurgence of the popularity of Lacoste.
What I'm not a huge fan of is some of these new logo's. Abercrombie started a terrible trend last year with their bigger moose...and now Ralph Lauren Polo has followed with a pony half the size of the shirt. What the fuck.
I agree.. It has been going on for a while, but three years is a lot for any trend to be still in. By default it should be fading away slowly.

pastels were never in to begin with. But I always tend to wear the following colors (not all at once), black, white, red, grey, beige, orange, and dark denim (as opposed to light). I have like, 5 pairs of shoes (black, brown, sandals, white tenis shoes, and a pair of old-school Doc Martin ass kickers).
I'm not big on being dressy all the time. jeans and t-shirt is what I prefer to wear.
Saying that pastels were never it to begin with is like saying the Holocaust never happened.

Regarding "higher end" stores, I really couldn't tell you much. The most expensive places I shop are Banana Republic and Nordstrom. I've got one Louis tie from Neiman Marcus that an ex got for me, so I really couldn't tell you what kind of quality those brands have.
When you go clothes shopping, you're not paying for the quality of the material of the item 90% of the time (unless you're buying crocodile shoes). The sad truth is that brand recognition is identified by a lot of people as the distinguishing reason that they buy from certain stores. It's not necessarily the logo, it's the tag on the back of the shirt. It's why you won't see that alligator at K-Mart, because there's this certain association of class.
For me, clothes are as much an investment as any other thing. The percentage changes study by study, but the vast majority of first impressions are carried by the way you look and the attitude you present, not by the substance of your words. If it costs a couple thousand dollars a year, so be it. I'm going to be working in an industry where first impressions can make or break a business relationship, and I'm going to do everything that I can to make sure that it's a make.
It's also not as though I sit here going through my closet every few days to try to decide what to throw away to make space. I have some jeans that are 3 years old that I still wear regularly, because they're well broken in. There's also always the Salvation Army or a myriad of other charities that would be more than happy to take what you don't want anymore.
Anyway, the direction of this thread needs to get back on track.

Pastels are nice, but I think something will spike up that will be bigger than them. For summer, I prefer a guy with the rugged look. White shirts and jeans with a worn looking belt.

Don't wear it to Chicago, because you will be laughed at in the street, where everyone can see you and point at you and join in the laughing.
Heh, seriously, that shit is played in Chicago and people do get laughed at by total strangers for wearing the above combo.
Edited to say, it's also still a pretty easy way to get picked up by a guy.

Are you refering to the tacky look of when the colllar is sticking straight up instead of being folded as appropriate?

As the Anti-Arkans, I will be rocking flip flops and socks (black dress socks, of course) as per my usual this fall.
I will complete my outfit with my royal blue Cadillac baseball hat.
My girlfriend hates me.
Jesus.. You're going to make me cry at night knowing that :(
Socks and flipflops.. Ugh.. Terrible.. Stop.. Please.. The pain..
I'm not going to even comment on the hat.

Nice jeans, Timbs, a button-front and a nice jacket will do.

The same state where it's illegal to pump your own gas, so that they can employ the local morons at gas stations?

This is a bad thing how? You mean I don't have to get out of my car in bad weather, when it's freezing, raining, snowing, or 95 degrees out? I don't have to turn my car off, and go into the convenience store inside the gas station to pay for my gas? And gas is cheaper in NJ than in 95% of the other states in the nation?
So I save time, effort, and money when filling up my gas tank in New Jersey.
Yeah...that sounds really shitty.

I'll happily sit in my climate controlled vehicle buying my cheap gas, and no comments about hair either.. :P
The only reason is cheaper is people feel bad for you all. You're like that kid that hangs out with a group of people that don't really like him. Damn Jersey.. The wannabe state.
