I'd like to propose an Off-Topic Politics Folder so folks would not have to wade through a political folder thats inaptly named especially if they are trying to avoid the political discussion that takes place here on the PC.

Just a thought.

Hey, its what all the cool kids are posting these days. /signed.

But yeah, this has been asked for a few times. Since this is GSPlayers Corner, politics really is off-topic.

Yea, I figured it would be covered in the Off Topic section, sometimes we see one stray into the social section though. And I'd like to have a little forwarning given to those who stumble upon our flaming rhetoric unwittingly.

That and I just really connected with an episode of Monk and feel a bout of OCD coming on, which makes me want to organize things to the Nth degree.

I suggested it about a year and a half ago. nothing.

Lets make fun of the Constitution!

The Petition Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of the people "to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." The right to petition has been held to include the right to file lawsuits against the government. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petition)

Or aren’t you just an evil mouthy liberal at heart?

I think you missed the point. The point being that you want to make fun of people who petition when our government was set up with that in mind to give people a voice. They didn’t draw up the Constitution for the establishment.

This is the kind of common ground we all have that we need to close the gap on. Yet you seem intent on driving that gap wider.

Or how about you just be normal and use today's posts

I probably missed the point because we're talking about creating a politics folder in the forum in this thread.

I think you need to work on your sense of humor a little more, or at least make your redresses at the appropriate time and place so as not to be mistaken as it was in this particular instance.

I actually don't think this is a bad idea. The Social Forum grew out of a need to separate the random stuff from the regular off-topic stuff, and politics is pretty much its own animal on the boards these days.

I personally don't have a problem with it. I'd prefer a politics folder under off-topic because they're just two different beasts.

I've advocated for subfolders and there was always someone yelling "quit splitting it! I don't like looking at so many folders to find something!" which I don't get because the more you have specific folders, the easier it is to find what you're looking for.

Maybe if we beg hard enough, HarmNone will put one in. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v412/Jemah/smilies/worthy.gif

No way! I can see through your charade! You want to come off all “freedom of speech” and “fairness and equality for everyone” but its just a guise so you can corral up and idetify dissenters than delete the whole topic and erase the real public voice! I caught you!

muahahahahahahaha

Thanks for your help CT. I think we'll help show that there's intersest enough to get one started. Besides, if WOW can have their own folder, us of the politik can have one because we know whats more important!

Does anyone actually read threads by folder? I always go by "Today's Posts"!

I read threads by today's post as well.

But if the descriptor, which I look at when I see a thread topic also helps me decide if I want to review the thread without jumping into it.

That way folks would have a warning should they see a vague or ambiguous title to a political thread, and thus take all precautionary measures before entering said thread.

I, too, look at the today's posts.

But I think alot of people would prefer when they see a thread named "What a douchebag" - that next to it they see it's in the politics folder and they can avoid it if they want.

I agree. There should be a folder. I also wish there was an option to filter out the politics folder when looking at "Today's Posts".
