I hate moving... I hate packing... I am moving ummm probably a ten hour drive from where I live...
Though I must admit I am extremely glad to get out of the city... especially the greater LA area... The hurrier I go though, the behinder I get. I should be in bed... but I'm about to go pack yet a few more boxes.
I'm convinced moving has it's on area in hell along with packing and looking for a place to live (not to mention job hunting)...
So off I go to take another gulp of my beer and pack a few more boxes... wish me luck... I'll still be around though (darn me!):saint:
Moving sucks, even when its someone else thats packing your boxes.

Moving does suck and I'm also in the same process. So far the millions of little things I have have been moved. The big stuff I'm leaving for my bf and his boys to move for me today. It should take them a total of 45 mins. to clear everything out and move it into my house. Moving sucks though.

Next time I move, I'm hiring movers to come pack up my crap and get it to my new place.
Last time I moved, half my stuff ended up in plastic shopping bags just to get the crap moved.
The act of moving and packing sucks, but moving to a new place is always fun.

Um...I live in a fifth floor walkup. If that wasn't enough, try finding a parking space on the street.
The result you say? double parked, caution lights on, cabbies honking, and begging you friends to sprint up and down four flights of stairs with yer crap in a vain effort not to get a parking ticket.

Instructions for moving:
Call moving company.
Give present address.
Give new address.
Tell moving company to bring packers.
When moving day arrives:
Place cooler full of drinks and snacks of choice next to large recliner.
Instruct all moving staff that the large recliner is the last thing to go, as you will be in it...barking orders.
Engage bitch mode and proceed.

oof... good luck OE.
Just had to move like 4 times in the past 3 years myself, so I feel your pain.
Just remember, quadruple check to make sure you haven't left anything important behind.

LOL @ HarmNone
edit: when I moved it wasnt too bad. Left alot at the parents house and only took what I needed to the apt. My friend had already lived in the apt for a year so pretty much everything we needed was already there.

HN cracks me up. Great advice too, as far as moving I think we should just have disposable stuff. Light the place your leaving on fire, move into new place with all new stuff already there!

I considered doing this last time I moved. I like HN's idea too.
Good luck Oreo, I feel your pain.
We moved tons when I was growing up. (went to 14 different schools if that tells you anything) Usually, my mom had packers, but not always. And we always unpacked our stuff ourselves at the new place.
The house I live in now is paid for. Have lived here since my daughter was 1. (She's 18 1/2 now) I will not be moving ever again unless they are driving me off to a nursing home (and I will be senile so I won't know) or they are loading my cold dead body into a hearse.
Moving does sucketh!

I think I love you! Too bad my mom is mostly paying for the move so I have some packing help but mostly its me... we're hiring movers but not packers... so all the breakables go in bum bum bum bum~ My car... and their truck... not the moving trucks. SO glad I don't have to drive a uhaul though...
Thanks for all the support... maybe I won't be all spaz and stressed when this move is over.

 I so did just that when moving to Denver. Except I had my laptop and played Gemstone while they packed and moved. It rocked.
Dont forget to have at least some monetary tip for the packers and movers if they do a good job.

So what do you say when you're suddenly told you have two days, instead of ten to finish packing?:scared2: I'm not sure if I want to laugh or cry... with anger. *sighs* I'm taking a break from packing right now. Not TONS left but still... My mom has become EVILE!

Moving update. I'm tired, sunburnt, worn out~ Thanks to Hecto for helping me pack up and finish the truck so I could rest today. TMW is actually moving day. Woo... soon it will mostly be over. :) I'll be offline a few weeks I think... depends on how fast I get my apt and dsl hooked up. Everyone take care and stuff.

When I moved to Arizona I had six months to prepare as far as having enough money and packing.
I was leaving at 4 in the morning and I didn't start packing until about 11 pm and somehow I remembered everything that I needed and was ready to go by 4 but I was dead tired by the time I started my 28 hour drive. God did that day suck.
Moving does suck. In a good sort of way.

I'm going to be glad when I move because it means that I've found a place to actually move into that isn't poop.
Man, I bet if I worked as a mover I'd be ripped beyond fucking belief...

Or, do like I did last time I had to move. Throw yourself down the stairs* and break a leg a week before you have to move. Other people do it for you!
Jorddyn
*Ok, I didn't throw myself down the stairs. I'm clumsy.
