When an armor is supposed to be hindered 6%, it means 6 of every 100 casts it should fail, or 1 out of every 16 or so casts. I find this to be a complete load of shit, because when I hunt I cast maybe 30 casts, and find atleast 5 of them fail.

Your hands glow with power as you invoke the phrase for Minor Water...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture at a wraith.
[Spell Hindrance for some ink black leather is 6% with current Armor Use skill, d100= 2]
Your armor prevents the spell from working correctly.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

The wraith moans evilly!
A wraith tries to ensnare you!
AS: +137 vs DS: +113 with AvD: +28 + d100 roll: +44 = +96
A clean miss.

it means you need to roll higher than a 6 for it not to fail

THE RNG IS BROKEN THE RNG IS BROKEN!

It isn't broken. Part of random means that you get crappy streaks. You likely also get streaks with no failures, but you don't notice.

Check logs for 100 hunts. Add it up. I'll bet you're darn close to 6% failure.

LOL, you're probably right, just like how you only get noticed for the negative things you do. Just downright annoying, 4 in a row.

Even with 2% hinderance, I have failed five casts in a row.

It sucks, but it happens. Believe me I'm a statistics major and a few months ago I swore that my d100 rolls were always low so I took a sample.

Yeah, xbar was almost exactly 50.

So it just seems wrong, but the system works.

Agreed. There are times when I swear the system does that on purpose, whether its spells or roll attempts on disarming/picking.

Some folks have a conspiracy that if you start off playing and get those right off the bat, that you should re-log in because the system is biased in some sort of mystical way that defies normal logic. I just type resync every now and then and see if that wont do something to the pattern of rolling of the [mangler?] or whatever its called.

The only time it really pisses me off is when I'm dueling or I'm almost dead and need that cast to go through NOW. But I wont sacrifice the tradeoff of my armor for the sake of 6 or 7% spell hindrance on my empath. For RP reasons all my other casters are robed and seem to be doing well as long as they dont get hit when they're hunting. :(

Yeah it goes in spurts. I've gone days without failure from my LBP...then boom I can't cast shit. But it all evens out. As said before we always notice when things go wrong.

I lose about 100 mana a hunt due to my cuirbioulli. At times I am forced to scream, "Alright! I get it! I AM WEARING HEAVY ARMOR."

<<For RP reasons all my other casters are robed and seem to be doing well as long as they dont get hit when they're hunting.>>

I suggest carrying a wand, and using that to get around hindrance for those all important casts. *From what i've seen* hindrance does not effect magical items. As well they shouldn't, as the focus for the spell is external to the caster.

Or if you get some cheese and wave it around in the catacombs the rats will come to you more often, or if you drop a coin in gnomes and tap it. Some people have spawn dances, but that's a skill, not everyone can do it.
