View Full Version : Rank Titles for the HoR

SnatchWrangler

We need to come up names for 7 ranks. Technically there is 8 ranks, but the GM rank 1, and rank 2 will be combined (ie, have the same title) for the council.

So...

Rank 1 & 2 (Council)
Rank 3 (Officers with ability to invite, promote, probably NOT demote)
Rank 4 (May have the ability to invite)
Rank 5 (Veteren players)
Rank 6 (New members)
Rank 7 (probably for rarely played alts)

So...toss your ideas arond, as we'll try and get them in place tonight. For rank 4, I like the title "Blood Guard". I don't care if it's a PvP rank...I like it.

No cow ranks! Bayne is not allowed to give his opinion on these! Look what he did to us in TBF!

I like Blood Guard too for rank 4.
Grunts would be good for rank 6.
Peons for rank for 7.
Blood Lord for rank 3.

Rank 1 & 2 (War Lord)
Rank 3 (Blood Lord)
Rank 4 (Blood Guard)
Rank 5 (Fury or Beast)
Rank 6 (Grunt)
Rank 7 (Peon)

Hate grunts not looking forward to being a grunt when I finally get enough HK's.

Are we looking for blood in the title? Are we looking military or fantasy type organization?

Commanders or Alphas for 2
Lords or Chiefs for 3
Guard for 4
Sentry's for veterans
Pack or patrol for regular members?
Pups for newbs

But those people at blood guard in the guild and in PvP rankings will be Blood Guard <name>, Blood Guard of the Hounds of Rexxar

Yeah but your rank in the guild doesn't show up anywhere except in the guild list. It's not like you'll see it when you're walking around.

Let's go people...need more suggestions.

I'd like to get the structure in place ASAP, as between the company I had over for 45 min last night, and the insane amount of tells I was receiving, after going /afk, I left it on because I couldn't possibly focus on every single tell I was receiving while pwning Toj and friends in WSG.

BotB was as followed:

Entrant

Grunt

Brother

Elite Guard

Elder

High Council

War Council

Patriarch

Don't have any suggestions for names.. but I do for abilities.

1 - GM - All Privileges
2 - Council - All Privileges
3 - Officer - All privileges except kicking out of guild and changing MOTD
4 - Veteran - All privileges except inviting/demoting/promoting/kicking/changing MOTD
8 - NO privileges at all. Kind of a purgatory until the council votes and kicks them out.

Since we're on the ability kick, can you allow members to change their own notes (I personally haven't noticed if you can with the new guild, I just know I couldn't in the old one) so that we can enter our professions?

Yup, I allowed it for all a couple hours after we formed HoR. Let me know if you can't.

So what's happening with this?

A number of times now over the last couple of weeks there has been no-one around to invite people to the guild outside of late (for me) when Alorg comes on.

And we need to sort out on what basis people get invited. Are we inviting anyone who asks?

Are we allowing people with stupid names to join?
(we are already the proud owners of adidassoccer, titbitnipply and some other gems - regardless of how good the players and characters are, they are stupid names)

Where we going with all this?

Oh god please, no more people with stupid names. It's embarrassing enough for people named Freshprince or Moballz to be running around with the Hounds of Rexxar tag.

We had planned on doing this last night, but Scynd didn't get online until 11pm server time...which is 2am my time...which means sleepy time.

It will be done tonight.

Also, considering yesterday was our 1-week anniversary, it hasn't been for a couple of weeks yet. ;)

Currently, we're on an "Invites by Alorg" basis. (I just came up with that.) We're basically trying to hold off on recruiting right now, until everyone gets into the guild, we get titles and ranks in place, and figure out where we stand numbers wise (we desparately need more druids and some warlocks).

I'm getting 5-10 tells per night asking for invites...the problem is I haven't heard of 80% of these people, and I don't know how/why they're requesting to join. Are they from BotB? Legion of Loyalty (Fetid's guild)? More transfers from The Haze? Completely random people?

The only people I'm currently inviting are people that someone I know in the guild will vouch for, and if they are of the profession of mage, warlock, priest, and druid. (We're tentatively setting a level 40 requirement, but of course there will be some leniency depending on a multitude of factors.)

We're working on getting a website up and running (hopefully within the next week), and once we do we'll have recruiting guidelines laid down. Nothing strict, no formal applications, just a place where prospective recruits can post to say hello and let them know what we're looking for, and let us know that they're interested.

This is a huge step, and once we've got it set up, it'll help us immensely in seeing where we stand and moving forward.

I agree, we already have some questionable names.

It would be nice if Blizz allowed people to rename their chars once. I think a lot of people just put in some dumb name because all of the names they want are taken or they're underestimating the amount of time and energy they will be investing in WoW... then later they're like, yeah, I'm a serious player now, but my name is stupid.

Yes, some people do put in bad names on purpose, especially on alts (one of mine is Moocifer), but our "real" chars shouldn't have goofy names.

They keep talking about potential/upcoming PvP-RP servers on some of the WoW boards... I guess that would they'd have some sort of naming filter in place? I'm still unclear how an RP server is different from a Normal (PvE) server. I wonder if they'd let us transfer our chars to one if they opened it up?

07-22-2005, 11:51 AM
Not like they enforce RP anyway. I still think the PvP/RP servers will just give a venue for the Patty Cake Club to actually report you for camping Alliance.

Sorry to reply to and quote myself, but I was just thinking that maybe some of the goofy-named people did start out as alts and then became primes later... Poor Moocifer will have to join a kiddie guild when I become bored with Dimar... heh.

Honestly, I hate the dumb names too, but I'm not going to tell someone they have to change their name or go home.

Alot of us came from GS, where you character's name should be an ACTUAL NAME. Alot of people came from online games where often their character's name was a screenname or "handle" for FPS games.

Honestly, you can report people for bad names, and the GMs will ask them to choose a new one. Hell, you might be doing them a favor. Even if the name is not offensive, if it is a combination of words, they are supposed to make you change it. (ie, There was a moron with the name Imthebest. Now he is known as Machination. He's still a moron, but the GMs made him change his name a few weeks ago because it violated policy.)

So go ahead and report these people, maybe you're doing them a favor.

Yup, the Tidbitnipply character is Fetid's alt.

I think characters should be judged on their performance and not their name. I know that Adidassoccer has been nothing but great in all interactions I have had with him. He even gave up his spot in Badlands last night so we could invite Cay and Lefallah.

Stabbed isn't the best of names in my opinion.. but I would hope people would give me the opportunity to prove myself first.. than to just judge me over a poor name selection.

07-22-2005, 11:56 AM
Arkans is my main.
Slugs is my alt.

Both are real and normal names, IMHO, but Arkans is clearly the better one.

Yeah true enough...Adidas's name makes me cringe every time I read it, but I have no complaints about the character.

Darkknight (or something like that), however is a different story. He consistently sends tells to people BEGGING to help him on quests/instances (he is level 60) and it made me laugh when I saw some screenshots Kothupoora posted on the dunemaul boards the other day and she had (badly) edited out a tell from him begging for her to go on an instance with him. He is a doofus.

Stabbed isn't a TERRIBLE name. I mean.. terrible player, yeah, but not name.

Then again, if I had to come up with a Jamaican name for Arkans, I'd flip out. Gotta love trolls.

We're the hounds

Runt and Mongrel for the first two ranks Alpha for the last two council ranks.

The middle I'm clueless.

I deleted Toaden since I didn't like the name. I wanted "Toad" and wouldn't settle for "Toaden"

If we need Warlocks I might start one up. BUT SINCE IM NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY ANY OTHER UNTIL IM CAPPED I GUESS THE GUILD CAN JUST WAIT

I'd rather Arkans get to 60 (and more importantly) get better gear than roll up a warlock alt. Warlocks are pretty easy to come by, it's just both of our guilds happen to not have any (well, BotB has one).

A newly turned 60 and a level 60 with decent end game instance gear...you may as well be level 60 fighting someone that's level 65.

07-22-2005, 01:18 PM
Give me a week and a half or so and I should be 60. I'm coming along great, just as long as people are doing the instance runs still I'm always up for improving Arkans.

What skill(s) or spell(s) do warlocks have that make them valuable to end-game groups? Like rogues do the stealth/sap thing, priests heal, mages nuke/sheep, shamans pwn, etc, etc... what do warlocks add?

This isn't meant to be a warlock bashing post, it's a real question. Remember, I'm new and have only played a priest.

Yeah, you'll be a step ahead of some people, just because you can sneak into some endgame instances as early as level 55-56 if it's a guild run and you're a ranged class or healer. So you'll have a couple set pieces or end game blues by the time you hit 60.

07-22-2005, 01:21 PM
Well, if you guys need a healer/lighting thrower just let me know. I'm down with doing UBRS, DM, or any of those for some gear, if only because it looks different than my current gear. Plus, great gear = easy time ganking and we all know how much I love that.

That's exactly why it's easier to find warlocks.

They aren't huge end game contributors. Mages have better AoE and crowd control. Warlocks are simply ranged DoT damage dealers end game. With their pets, they have some nice group helping abilities, Blood Pact gives everyone in the group (not the whole raid, just group) another ~500 health. The succubus pet can be used to seduce, which is nice for crowd control, but not as good as sheep.

You can get through Scholo, Strath, and UBRS very easily without ever having a warlock in your party (or hunter for that matter). But they are a big help in DM west where they can banish elementals though.

I suppose warlocks are more useful on the Alliance side, because the soulstones can be used to rezz the parties' priest or paladin if the party wipes. The Horde side has Shaman, who can always raise after a wipe with an ankh.

UBRS would be rough on you now. DM too, cuz it's only 5 man. I'm sure we could drag you through UD Strath (or Scarlet side) with little to no effort. Let's try and get a couple runs done this weekend.

There's basically zero gear I want out of instances now, but I don't mind UBRS runs (because they are valuable for the guild) and other instance runs as long as they're typically less than 2 hours time. (AND it's a full guild run. I don't want to go on a run where 3 or 4 non-guildies clean up on gear and our guys get next to nothing. I feel like it's a huge waste of my time then.)

Warlocks add value to end game instances due to the following.

1. Soul Stones. These are usually placed on priest or shaman as they resurrect the player after death.

2. Health Stones help out tremendously as its not on the same timer as a potion.

3. Blood Pact aura is similar to the priests fortify buff.

4. Some crowd control by use of banish/succubus.

5. Secondary AoE caster.

The warlock is a valuable class for several situations.

Is it TiTbitnipply (Nein's spelling) or TiDbitnipply (Snatch's spelling)? Either way, that name is BS and I am sure it reflects on the guild whenever someone sees the HoR guild title below that guy's name.

I can just hear the chat now, 'Oh, that's the nipple guild, bunch of clowns.'

I don't care if he's an outstanding guild mate, best player in the game, etc., that name shouldn't be the in game, let alone in the guild.

I would suggest petitioning it.

At this point I do not feel comfortable with kicking a player due to the name they chose.

I’m not sure how the likes of “Wantsumpunch” or “TidBitnipply” made it into the guild in the first place.

Reporting the players name can possibly get it corrected if more than one petition it.

We WILL NOT allow names like this into the guild going forward. A naming policy will be in place shortly.

Here's a couple of pointers you can use to improve Arkans:

1) Dear Arkans.. you DO have totems. Why not throw a couple down and give your group some much needed buffs. It's not all about earthshock.

2) Dear Arkans.. you CAN heal. Why not throw a couple of heals on your group when their hps are going down. Don't just use your mana for earthshock.

3) Dear Arkans.. you don't have to melee everything. Sometimes you can stand back and be a good puff.

I can't wait until you are 60.. Bayne is going to beat you more than he's beaten Dar.
