I was able to get my sorcerer to her level now without script hunting. Having said that, my accomplishments in game never feels hollow or meaningless because it was hard work that took me there. It's also one of the reasons why I would never ever sell my character. Needless to say, It took me years to get her there.

Actually, I know Ocissor IRL. He's actually a good guy, and he's not scripting.
So what is he doing? He's doing a damn good tactic; running in, blasting the critter and running out. He set up a macro with his arrow keys that does all of this for him; if he hits ctrl+se, he goes southeast, INCANTs 702, and runs out.
The reason why he was probably poaching your critters is...because he wasn't. He probably started out attacking them and you ran in and started attacking it. Heh, he even IMed me when he got sweeped like that. Nice to see what actually happened though.
As for his grammar...he's alright normally. Typo that time.
And as for his CS, we optimized his stats so at level 100 he would kick some serious ass. He wanted it that way. But I figured that we should get rid of the less important stats today and dump them into CS stats. Needless to say, it helped quite a bit for him.
Oh, and about the puma skin collecting...he was wondering why there were high-levels running around up there. :P

You leave the hunting room with a critter still standing, the critter is fair play for anyone. Especially the dumb hunting tactic he was using. Grow some balls, meet a critter head on, and expect to die sometimes.

He is not me, but I do have access to his account and have played him some, and don't really like using his tactic. The main player of his account, who uses this tactic, lives 2 hours from me.
The only real reason he is using this tactic is because if he meets the critter head on he certainly WILL get hit, because he's pumping all of his points into CS (I.E., sorcerer spells only), rather than skills for his Runestaff at the moment. Until he can nearly always hit a critter, he's gonna use this tactic, because he has no freaking DS!
I disagree.
Did you even look at the critter for wounds beforehand?

<<Did you even look at the critter for wounds beforehand?>>
I hate to say it, but this is a pretty fucking stupid question to ask.
I didn't see anyone hunting in arch wights, then one was magically stunned when I walked in and I finished it off. Some guy is all, "omg how you think it got stunned?" and I said, "Luck." That was the end. I'm sure he realized that he should stfu for being hidden.
In this instance, Ocissor should stfu for not being in the room.
Iqxero
07-28-2005, 02:44 PM
There's a time effective hunting method. I should have to go into combat, be swung at twice by a creature while I stand there and determine if it had any previous wounds because some pussy ass min/maxer can't hunt like the other 99.9% of the game.
You leave the room, guess what, the critters fair game. I guess your bud's just going to have to hope he can use that tactic on players, when he starts getting his ass smoked for poaching.

I've never seen him in game. And it's posted on a public message boards. As such I get to bitch until I stop opening this thread. Don't like it, stop reading.
And besides which, I wasn't even talking to him. Unless him is you. In which case I was talking to him.
I was responding to your statement that he wasn't at fault, because people should inspect every creatures in the hunting area incase a min/maxing sorc could be hunting there.
My response was that he very much was at fault. I will now go on to add constructivly that perhaps he should modify his training until such time as he can safely stand infront of a critter, and THEN pump up his CS. This prevents him from being a nuisance to everybody in the hunting area. Perhaps you should pass that along to him, or hey, send him the link to this thread.

I doubt he'll make it if he keeps this up...unless he has no life.
In addition, tripling sorceror spells is easily doable while maintaining runestaff skills. You and he seem to share accounts sometimes, multi accounters everywhere have this great idea that involves spelling each other up...

This dude is a moron. He'll have at least 3 fixskills between now and 100 and that's if he's a powerhunter with nothing going on outside of the game to distract him. Get real if he's in mants he should still be on his fast grace period and he should sword and board it and then when he hits lvl 20 then go runestaff.
Also if you leave the room you forfeit rights to that creature so it was only his for the split second his balless self stood there to punch a macro. Ohh no I might get hit!! STFU that's the lamest shit I've ever heard.
In closing he's weak.

Plenty of sorcerers seem to get by without a training plan that requires them to run in and out of rooms because of low DS. Like someone else said, you can triple in spells (which are the only skills affecting your CS) and still have a good number of points left over for runestaff skills.
Iqxero
07-28-2005, 03:41 PM
So, what your saying is, the majority of Sorcerers who have trainings that allow them to stand infront of a creature and cast at it, just don't exist?
That my sorc, who is heavily dependent on the sorc line for CS, and yet still manages to produce enough DS with a runestaff that I don't have to run back and forth to hunt, doesn't kill things?
I'd say that's a fairly lame excuse. Any number of people on this forum could produce, in less time then it takes your friend to kill a critter with his method, a viable training plan that would produce enough DS to stand in the room as a like level creature, and enough CS to kill it, if not enough to overhunt.

Maybe as a Dark Elf, sure. He would have more than enough CS. But he's a dwarf.
Not all warriors are giantmen, not all sorcs are dark elves. Look at the fame lists if you don't believe me (number one is a human sorc).

The difference between a dwarf sorc and a dark elf sorc, trained exactly the same, is aboue 5 CS.
If 5 CS means he can't kill something, your overhunting just a tad too much.
And besides that I can guarantee you that non-darkie sorcs hunting "toe to toe" it's possible. The point of everything I'm saying is that your friend chooses to not deal with other people playing his game, by setting his hunting method to be unfriendly to other players, and as such should be prepared for repercussions later in his career, if not now.
[Edited on 7-28-2005 by Iqxero]
Go and look up the dwarf and see how he did it. I'm gonna guess not b y running in and out of rooms.
Anyway, I think it's stupid these crazy min/max plans for character who will NEVER make 50, much less 100. The point of the game is to have fun, not have the most uber capped character six years down the road. Any capped character could still beat Soulpieced or Tsin in a duel even though those two have uber gear and lot's of training. I just don't get the point.

I don't know anything about sorcerers or training plans, but if Ocissor wants to train/hunt like that, can't he at least talk to other people in that hunting area and explain what he's doing? People might get less pissed off if they knew why he was running around so much.
Maybe he could even try and make some friends and group hunt.
Hunting with friends = friends spell you up and create more targets in the room

Really? I thought Aura/wis bonus = +1CS per point automatically, which would give a Dark Elven sorcerer +20 CS advantage aura-wise over a Dwarven sorcerer, both stats assumed to be at 100.

Unless play.net is wrong there is no way they could have a +20 over dwarves. +5 or +25, but not +20, so I could be wrong. It happens.
Besides I thought you were done arguing.
And besides besides, even 25 CS is not that considerable over the course of 100 levels, and even 20 if you train the character to overcome it and hunt smart.
However, none of this server to invalidate the point that he is choosing the most difficult way for him to hunt, hands down. I suppose if he comes here he can read it and continue arguing, but he is just making his early life more difficult than it needs to be.

Just a quick comment on the race issue. I've a gnome sorceress who can hunt critters six or seven trainings above her without a problem either hitting them or defending against them, so it is very feasible for a non darkelf sorcerer to hunt in a more conventional manner and do great.

Seriously need to teach him stance dancing at least. You shouldn't be hit by those things at the point you're hunting them.
That's funny, because sorcerer's don't stance dance in the slightest; they are always in guarded (80%) stance.
That is all.
EDIT: Erm, wait. Forgot about Channeling. But he doesn't do that with his tactic so it's still kinda irrelavent.

The way stats affect Sorcerer CS is as follows.... (aura BONUS + wisdom BONUS)/2
So... supposing max dark elf stats and max dwarf stats.. you're looking at 12 or 13 difference, which is pretty substantial, but since you said you were min-maxing your stats... chances are his CS blows cock because dwarves have low aura and wisdom bonus to begin with.

Thanks. I always thought it was straight up Aura Bonus + Wisdom Bonus.
