I saw a post on the officials where someone said "With 18 ranks of air lore you have a 12% chance at a double strike flare" - how the heck do they know that? Does someone know the equation for flares?

Also, if you have 20 trains, and ranks of HP, and, say 70 mana, then you get a 21 rank, but are still 20 trains, will your mana go up to 73, or just to 71? Basically wanting to know if I should keep my HP at trains +1 or just equal to trains. I hate wasting that much tp for 1 mana,

yes.

3 ranks = 3%
7 ranks = 6%
12 ranks = 9%
18 ranks = 12%
25 ranks = 15%
33 ranks = 18%
42 ranks = 21%
52 ranks = 24%
63 ranks = 27%
75 ranks = 30%
88 ranks = 33%
102 ranks = 36%

Ah...thanks much. How about for the first strike, any idea what the percentage is? Trying to figure out where diminishing returns become not worth it in my opinion.

I saw a neat chart about this that I forgot to save, but diminishing returns are about at 44 ranks.

i'll throw up my lore sheet that krakii made under mechanics folder. its almost complete. only missing the ranger resistance, and thresholds for 1110 as far as i can see. not positive the info for 1st flare is on there. but still great thing to have anyway

These replies have gotten me confused... I've always been under the impression that there are two rolls made everytime a sonic connects, the first being the base chance (which never changes and is not modified by anything, ever) a sonic weapon has to flare, the second being a roll based solely on your air lore. Which is why it's possible to get a double flare on one swing.

You're referring to the percentage chance that that second roll will result in a flare, correct? I just can't buy that a sonic weapon will ever have a 36% chance of doing a double flare... am I incorrect?
