We are paying 1,05,4$
a dollar and 5,4 cents
For a damn litter.
One dollar and 5 coma (?) 4 cents per liter.
And it won't get lower, according to many economists.
Thanks, London

I paid $2.27 a gallon for regular today.
Please explain how you are blaming this on London.

The instability and fear of terrorist attacks raised the gas value of 6 cents.
And the fact the baril is at 61 bucks per.

No comma. Period goes after dollar amount. Only explained because of the ?
Gas is like $2.03-2.09/gallon here.

So what you meant to say was "Thanks terrorists" right?

Thanks in a sarcastic way, yeah.
We're paying almost double what you 2 are paying... There is something wrong, holy shit!

A liter is about the same as a quart.
After having gone to Canada and seeing gas prices, I'm so fucking glad I don't live in Canada. They're paying about $0.81 USD per liter.. 3.785 liters to the gallon.. $3.07 USD per gallon of gas.

btw, the attack in London is not the cause of gas prices increasing in Canada. The cause is storm outages in the Gulf of Mexico that decreased production.

Heard it was cause of that from an economist at radio while getting home, whatever raisons anyway since it's WAY more than in the US.
Worse thing is, more cars = more traffics = more waste of gas.
I want my car to work with water.

Hydrogen would be cool, risky I would guess, but damn cool.
But what's more to think is the fact that a liter of purified water cost 1,49$ and is, therefore, more expensive than milk and gas.

I thought that the taxes on gasoline helped fund that healthcare system. At least that's what a tour bus dude at Niagara Falls (Canadian Side) told us.

I absolutely fucking hate the Canadian taxes. They get free healthcare, great. But there are two taxes: Ontario Provincial Sales Tax (PST, 8%) and Goods & Services Tax (GST, 7%). These taxes apply to basically anything you buy. It's really, really annoying to pay 15% on everything. I went to Burger King and got $5.28 of food, it cost me $0.79 in taxes. I went to a store and bought a $4 bag of pure maple syrup candies, it cost me $0.60 in taxes.
Canadian citizens need to just start paying for their own healthcare.

It may have changed since I saw it around 3 or 4 this afternoon... but the price of gas was actually down about 2 dollars a barrel X.
Welcome to socialism... as any republican brother will tell you... taxes are evil.
Additionally - from CNNFN:
"NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Oil prices ended lower Thursday after a volatile day of trade following a series of coordinated terrorist attacks in London and a government report showing a large build in distillate stocks.
U.S. light crude for August delivery closed down 55 cents at $60.73 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The modest change belied a day that saw a record high above $62 in early electronic trade -- and then a subsequent drop of nearly $5 in the wake of the explosions that rocked London. "

$2.26 in Northern Virginia.
My buddy pays $60 to fill up his truck every week. I laugh everytime he bitches, because his parents own an Echo that just sits in their driveway that no one drives.

2.43 in michigan for regular. and it's really just the oil companies gouging..
any percieved shortages/supply demand effects are only in place because its' rigged to be that way..the companies are shorting their reserves to create that.
and they claim that there's only so much oil for the next xxx years simply based on their current resources, there's other untapped resources out there, and the situation could change next year.
point is, when you have someone addicted, you tighten the screws, because you know there's nothing that people can do about it.
hydrogen explodes, but people seem to forget that gasoline is volatile as well.
people need to carpool and use take more advantage of mass transit, but it's not likely to happen anytime soon.
me, I fill my tank up once a week, so now it's looking like a 75 - 100$/month fuel bill for me based on my current usage.

I just put enough gas in my truck to get me to the half-full line - at $2.39 a gallon. And that's the regular unleaded, at the cheapest station in town. Super unleaded at the most expensive is around $2.70 right now.
On a positive note though, Xcalibur, remember minimum wage in Canada is higher than it is in the States. Things are more expensive there, but you folks earn more so it's not all that far out of whack.

I remember it was 2 years ago this sept that the cheapest gas I could find was 1.47 a gallon. Only reason I can remember that time frame and price was because I had driven up to NY to pick up a horse I had bought.
I am impressed so far with this diesel truck I just bought, I am getting 18 or 19 miles to the gallon.

I think the gas prices just went up 10 cents here to make it about $2.38 a gallon for cheap grade.
Luckily I only have to fill up every few weeks or so
(I really haven't paid attention because it's not often anymore).
But I pay $50 a month to ride the train to work.
All in all, it's not hurting me.

Hydrogen cars have already been created and they work. However too much of the American economy relies on petroleum so I wouldn't expect to see hydrogen powered cars released for public sale anytime in the near future.
edit: $2.44 a gallon here
[Edited on 7-11-2005 by Elrodin]
Not until they can stabilize the cells used to store the hydrogen in the cars, will they be considered for mass production. Can you imagine rear ending a car with a hydrogen cell in the back like a conventional gas tank? ugh
Here's another viable solution if vehicle space and possibly saftey is not an issue.
http://www.smartcar-usa.com/
First one to hit US soil was bought on Ebay by and AZ resident for ~35K. Top speed is close to 70mph and it gets a little over 50mpg according to the news reports. The new owner said he filled the tank for around 10 bucks (5 gallons or less I'm guessing at today's prices).
Only downside is the size/space capability if you need to stuff it with groceries or if you were to be struck by another larger vehicle.

Congress already has a hydrogen powered fleet of cars. Your taxpaying dollars bought a several million dollar hydrogen gassing station in DC. But...its not economical to build them yet, the upfront costs of making them safe and putting them together are more than the savings. Like Ganalon said, storing something highly combustible under lots of pressure is generally a bad idea :)
Now, if you want something more immediate, some people are converting regular engines for burning waste oils/fats, I read an article on a engine converted to burn the waste from fryolators <sp?>; these guys pull into McDs to fill up, and its free! hehe.
I can see it now...
McDonalds releases new line of automobiles.
2005 model McFry, comes in small, medium, and combo sizes.
2005 model McVette, sporty 2 door version will run on both frys and mcnuggets.
2005 model BigMac, large and combo sizes only, 4x4 optional, cheese optional.

Costs me about 50 to 60 bucks to fill up right now on cheap gas. But, buy a diesel vehicle...spend the cash and buy the oil converter...home made diesel instantly. Plus your vehicle will smell like french fries all the time. I think it broke down to like 40 cents a gallon after the cost of the machine. I'll find a link for it sooner or later.
