This is the screenshot the guy linked in the thread, the original link got broken.

If it's not photoshop, I'm glad there's someone who plays more than I do.

It's apparently not photoshopped as he posted with each of them saying it's not.

I feel SO much better about playing. Even though I don't play as much as I'd like, it's still WAY less than this guy. Whew! :D

Not the most original with names though, is he...?

<--- once played Edaarin Ariter, Edarin Arater, and Edarrin Aratar.

Also, for some of you, take a moment to calculate how much time you've spent on Gemstone.

For myself, I stopped at roughly 6,100,000 experience, and that's just with my main (not including the various level 20-35 chars I eventually discarded).

6,100,000 at 30 exp every single pulse = almost 3,400 hours.
330 ranks of Guild work = at least 600 hours because of how much lockmastery sucks, probably a lot more.

4,000 hours as a lowball range = a bit less than 500 work days at 8 hours apiece.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go pour acid on myself.

He explained that he gets paid by his company to play, as he writes for a Strategy website. So someone figured out that if you average 7 hours a day playing, it can be done.

He seems like a really cool guy. He said he's looking forward now to PvP and raids and get back at the people who ganked him while trying to quest. Heh. Too bad he's not on Dunemaul.

I think I'm glad I rerolled about 20 times. I have no way of calculating how much of my life I spent in the game :)

Jorddyn, glad to be oblivious

:lolwave:

The funniest thing is the names. My ex did that in WoW. Every single one was some form of Azure. Azuri, Azuria, Azuron, Azurnan etc. etc.

But yeah. I keep missing ingame events I'd like to attend. So I've started putting them in my datebook. This is surely a sign I play too much. And elevates me to whole new realms of dorkyness. Edaarin pass the acid plz.

Gah, now I have to add Edaarin to the list of names I have to catch!

Wezas, Zezas, Yezas, Xezas, etc.

At least with WoW I have some variety with "Greye" (a bald guy with a grey beard) and Dreds (an undead rogue with dredlocks)

When I quit GS3 in '99 I had every class other than cleric and empath past level 40, several multiple times and a few much higher than 40.

That being said, I don't really care much about the time because I was a kid and then a teenager during that time and it's not like I had a lot of responsibilites I was shirking (I still got into the college I wanted to and had a prom date etc.).

Since I came back to GS4 about a year ago I've taken one character from level 13 to level 41, which doesn't really seem excessive timewise.

If you do it at work, you can probably get a settlement out of it to make up for those 500 days you missed.

Damn. He happen to say what company it is? I didn't read very far down and am too lazy to do it right now.

I want his job.

He ultimately linked to his website, which I'm sure is getting a lot of hits. He didn't want to be found to advertising his company as he was afraid he would lose his job over it. Can't say I blame him for being afraid of losing THAT job.

You have to be registered to read any of it, but it's for a fee of about $2 a month with a week trial. It actually has pretty good information.
