Any suggestions for a level 8 wizard? Rats are a pain in the ass now... Snow spectres, or what?

Snow Spectres. You can comfortably script them at level 10. I'd manually hunt them til then though.

What works well on them...? Water, fire, or what? Also, I was curious about wands. I remember when I first started playing you could always sell wands to a wizard for the usual 2k prices or whatever. Is that still possible, or do most people just sell 'em to the pawnshop now?

Most people sell em to the pawn shop now that wizards can pretty much hunt from birth with spells. I find that 904 works well on them, though 903 is also acceptable.

Okay... I was just curious about the wand thing.
I only single in HP so my mana isn't exactly abundant, but I should be able to wrack here pretty soon so I guess that should help out a lot.

Wracking drains spirit, low spirit = low physical and bolt attacks. If you're only lvl 8 you should still have your fast migration. Pick up ohe, shield, and CM, swing to kill until at least lvl 15. Use a handaxe, haste is your friend.
The day before your fast migration is up (your 30 day window of figuring out what the hell you're doing) migrate your skills to what you really want to be. Be that war mage (hell yes hint hint) or pure wizard. I will tell you that no matter what route you go it's better to get an extra spell or two than to pick up lores past say 20 air lore ranks and whatever earth lore you need for a few 509 bonus points (4 ranks = +1 not sure how many after that but I wouldn't do over say 30 ranks).
YUT!

Spectres till 15 or so, then Wraiths in Icemule. After Wraiths, head to Wights in Icemule. From there, the world is your playground.
Wraiths and Wights both have no armor. 903 is your best friend.

Wow. My ignorance there was astounding, huh? Anyways, I'm going up to Mule here in a bit. I just picked up 8, but I figure I'm going to run to Solhaven and take care of all the society stuff there.

Im currently pwning snow spectres with my level 8 wizard. 904 all the way, they usually die in one hit.

Hunting wights was the only time I ever used bolts to hunt. I just couldn't pass up the damage I did with minor acid on those things it was sick.

Easy now. I come here to get away from the dumb shit that I deal with on a daily basis.
You know... everytime someone gives me the mindless "Oohrah" and asks how my day is, I always say... "Same shit, different shovel." Oldie, but a goodie.

Your wizard is probably level 50 by now, but I'll throw my advice in too. At 8 I was hunting manticores and thraks. A little below my level, but they genned fast and were basically harmless. I moved to haste hunting hill trolls after that, and at 19ish went to Icemule for the wights, like everyone else mentioned. Be careful up there though, they had a nasty habit of boiling for every other attack (gotta kill them quick). I cloud hunted warfarers for a bit (cloud's gone now I guess) but they fell pretty quickly to bolts, too.

Do wights at 12, unless you have a weak ass wizard, in which case, delete and start over.

... who has ran 4 wizards through wights at 12, and 6 to 11 was cockatrices and or spectres.

Why do I remember cold guardians being good wizzard fodder, expecially with 907 and 903?
Also, don't feel bad, low spirit didn't use to effect bolt AS I don't think. Thats something that was new to me when I came back from leaving three years ago.

I think you mean Fire Guardians(16ish?) Janarth, and they make fantastic wizard fodder... heck they make great anybody fodder, can't crit them, but they have low AS and DS so it's easy enough to bleed them out. Treasure sucks because they're so frequently hunted. I think they are around lvl 16, but they can be hunted much earlier if you have the right spells/dance.
Biggest problem there are the fire phantoms... because nobody wants to kill them (low lvl undead) and they'll ocassional cast a cloud (not sure if they still do...)

No no, Cold guards get owned by 910. Ever hit a cold guard with a lightning flaring weapon? It's fun to watch.

I used 904 on cold guardians, still do, but the reason you recall them being good for wizards was because they were 20 trains younger in GS3 and lived with ogres.

Wow...I was being slow, I meant fire guardians, which 903 and 907 get a huge DS pushdown on, as someone mentioned. Level 16, but 5th train wizards could kill them with mana. Yeah, I remember the fire phantom's clouds now, so annoying, but a great place to hunt for a young wizard, node is right in the middle of the hunting area :)

Safe spot anyway, I didn't notice it being a node.
