Anyone planning on going to this festival?

It starts Thursday, June 30th, and ends Monday, July 5th.

I'm definitely going, as there are a number of great bands that will be there.

It's free admission, safe, and a helluva good time Detroit style!

I'm actually going to be in Detroit on business, but I'll most likely be ordering my Taste of Detroit from roomservice.

Well, that's too bad, if you feel slightly adventurous and/or need bodyguards, let me know, it's really going to be a great event. There's also lots of fun stuff to do in the wealthier suburbs north of Detroit. :D

Taste of Detroit?! Who wouldn't pass up the taste of burning tires and gang related activity?

It all goes down well with Faygo soda and some good 'ole BBQ.

No fun!!!! I'll even bring you to one of the best sushi bar's in the area, if that'll convice you to come out. (umm, being a moderatly broke college student, you'll probably have to cover your own portion of the bill),

it'll still be a blast though.

Now, we need more people, It'll be a blast!!

Don't blame you. You should still bring a gun though. may have to return fire from the window of your hotel room.

Electrix Six
Brazilian Girls
and there's a few others I don't remember.. Will try to get a schedule up by this evening, or find a link to the band list.

There's also a few stages, I am prefering the Pure Detroit stage, but that reflects my music tastes.

Sure. You know I live in that cardboard box on the sidewalk outside your lofts so I'll just follow you there on the 30th, mkay? Walk. Dont take taxi. Its inconsiderate to make Santa Clause excercise his jolly-cankles in this heat.

The sushi in Detroit is god awful. You only think it's good because you've never had the real thing.

There's tons of Koreans and other asians trying to make a buck off Japanese culture, and the food is terrible.

Yotsuba (Ann Arbor, MI) - reasonable quality, as well as a large variety of other meals, moderate pricing, more traditional, ok. Wide variety of asian beer/sake served here.

-Owned by Taiwanese, and incredibly overpriced. I give it a D-

Sushi.come (Ann Arbor, MI) - reasonably priced, good quality, hole-in-the wall campus sushi bar/restaurant

Don't know... only communists and chicks with hairy armpits go to Ann Arbor though.

Noble Fish (closson, MI) - low price, high quality, doubles as an asain market and they supply most of the fish to the other restaurants in the area, so it's very fresh. May have some asian beers

If you're in Clawson, you should just go to Nippon Kai. Japanese owned, and very good food... and you won't be crammed in the back of a grocery store.

Shiro (Farmington, MI) (I think) - High priced, high quality, old mansion converted into a restaurant/sushi-bar. Also rumored to be haunted. Wide variety of alcohol

Never been there, but there is a very large concentration of Japanese people that live in Novi. "Sakura" (or Cherry Blossom) is always excellent. "Ajishin" is extremely good also, but there is ALWAYS a wait, as this is the only place I've found that has authentic noodle dishes.

Kabobgy (Southfield, MI) - high priced, high quality. Lebanese cusine AND sushi bar. This place is my favorite, not only do they have awesome hommous/tabouli they also have some other great dishes, PLUS a sushi bar and a wide variety of alcoholic beverages. There's also entertainment ala middle-eastern themed music and belly dancing (occasionally). This place is frequented by Arabic/chaldean folks for the most part, but if you don't mind, then this is the place I reccomend.

Owned by Arabs. Enjoy your meal as you fund the next Jihad.

The sushi chef is named "Willy Wang". Google it if you don't believe me.

(Willy Wang is not Japanese...)

I will not be joining.

Sorry...

ROFL @ the Kabobgy comment (willy wang is the man!), and obviously, the sushi in new york, california and Japan is probably 900x better than any of the sushi bars here, but all the places I've mentioned have fairly palatable offerings (yotsuba is my last choice).

Haven't been to the other places, but would definitely consider trying them next time I go out for sushi.
