I read this notice today (STRATFOR subscription) :
The Bush administration is making plans to produce plutonium 238 for the first time since the Cold War, The New York Times reported June 27. Timothy Frazier, head of radioisotope power systems at the Department of Energy, said the production is mostly for national security purposes. The program would be centered at the Idaho National Laboratory and produce 330 pounds of plutonium 238 over 30 years at a cost of $1.5 billion.
.
I'm of the opinion that we probably got plently of nuclear weapons and that we need less, not more.
I suppose we're planning on using some now?
Can't be good...
