Wow, you actually moved there? Last time I tried (mind you this was YEARS ago), they told me I needed a sponsor. That meant, I had to have entered an agreement (a contract) for work, -or- that some family who were legal citizens vouched for me and would be legally responsible for my finances until I secured a job, no matter how long that took. Even if I was filthy rich, I wouldn't have been allowed to move there, because there was no guarantee my money would go to their tax coffers. They said they'd only take people who could become contributing members of society, financially.

Made sense at the time but I just didn't fit either criteria. So I was only allowed to visit for up to 30 days, then I had to go back. That's what I did - it was an awesome experience.

What part of Canada? Which Province, Ontario? Don't tell me you're gonna become a Newfie <snicker> -

If you're up in or near Toronto and want to meet up with some rather fun geek-gamer-types, send me a PM.

OH MY GOD your moving in with X????????? <he lives in the big Q doesn't he?>

I had to sign the same things plus quite a bit of money in fees to become a resident alien here in the States. Signing that I would never become a burden to the State etc.

Canada is the place that everyone talks shit about until they actually go there and realize its fucking awesome.

I used to be like. "Why the fuck would I ever want to go to Canada?"

Then I went and it was

"Holy shit dude, how come I never went to canada before"

Imagine Arsenio Hall on the Dave Chappele Show. "God damn this some good chese"

But if you're moving -- why choose a place with worse weather than where you're coming from?

Go to Canada -- just try Vancouver.

I'm not sure your opinion counts. You only went because you were stuck in washington and too young to drink in the US.

Also, women are UBBER cute and run topless when jogging at morning on the river's side. It's very windy and the air is pure and it doesn't stinks.

Xcalibur
06-29-2005, 08:16 AM
Seriously, it's a bit normal too.... Québec city has, with the suburb around 1 million people but there is JUST a few people from other countries (immigrants).

Montréal has a bit more than 3 million and most people are too lazy to learn french there, so they stick to english.

So there's that... "compétition" between the 2 city, one that is cosmopolitain, one that is classic, one that is open minded, one that is close minded..

I am fairly surprised that she decided to come live here, there must be a guy in the story, because it's really an hard place to live when you don't speak french BESIDE if you go to the university Laval.

Welcome to Canada, not everyone in Quebec is like Xcalibur. You will find it cold in winter, depending on where you are coming from. Quebec City is more francophone than Montreal, as Xcalibur said.

Have to Agree there. Montreal is becoming more International than Quebec City would ever allow themselves to become.

Montreal has more of a European influence than Toronto. I prefer European influenced cultures/cities.

Toronto is too 'westernized'

Seeing as how she said that she's living in Quebec, it doesn't really matter. I'd rather stick hot pokers in my eyes then live in Quebec, but hey, as long as she's happy and the sex is worth the move, it's all good. :D

Edited to add a pic for good measure.

Both Montreal and Toronto have they high points and their low points. Toronto is the world's most diverse city, a business hub, has New York quality and variety of restaurants. Montreal has great architecture, is more European and was at one point in time more chic.
