How the fuck was your system still functioning?

And how'd you manage to get 5000 viruses at once?

Bobmuhthol

No fucking idea.

Holy fuck that's one gigantic burger in your avatar.

Is that what they served at Simucon this year?

I didn't really feel like looking at what the viruses were, I just deleted and rebooted. A few thousand were in the system32 folder, all executables.

It might also be a factor that I haven't had antivirus software on this computer for like 16 months.

That is just incredibly stupid. Stop looking at all that bullshit free porn and stop stealing music and the viruses will go away.

Hello all! Cookie monster here with your tip of the day!

For the less informed in our audience, MP3 files do not contain viruses (or viri). You can continue to "steal" music and not worry about getting infected.

However, some sites do run content or have you download activex or files with extentions like .com, .exe, .scr that do contain viruses (or viri). These are primarily warez sites though, and not music sites. (warez = hacked or crackes software).

These days people use these clever things called peer to peer networks for file sharing purpouses. Sadly they can and will give you spyware, trojans, and such.

I use LimeWire frequently and have yet to get spyware/adware/trojans. You just need to switch to FireFox and/or start looking at more reputable porn sites, bob.

Did you google it to try to find removal instructions?

Aurora is annoying. It has to be manually removed via register keys.

Yes, there is an uninstaller at mypctuneup.com

Alex, you have to kill the running processes first. Boot it up in safe mode and try running the uninstaller if you haven't. Otherwise, I'll post the manual removal instructions for you.

Manual plz.

I've been in safe mode all day.

I have a virus that will not fucking die and is not detected by Norton. It generates a new name and executable every time you kill the process. It also escapes any type of editing by being like, "THIS IS BEING USED BY SOMETHING ELSE MUTHAFUCKA."

Sorry it didn't work for you, but your link saved me from pulling my hair out. Not sure where I picked that one from but the pop ups were driving me crazy!

I would try those, but I would print them out as you have to kill your internet access to remove aurora.

Manually removing a virus is like giving it the old fuck you. I'm sure he could reformat if he so chose, but it's more fun this way (and yes, I view spyware as viruses).

Never ever go without an antivirus. Who knows who has what information of yours now.
I run Spybot regularly too on my system.
Between the two, I keep a pretty happy computer.

I would have a heart attack if I saw that on my virus scan. About gave me one looking at your virus scan.

I still have one I can't get rid of. I googled it and I guess it takes a bunch of steps to remove. (I'm not really that computer literate) If anyone knows about this one:

C: Program FilesAIMSysfilesWxBug.EXE (had to put extra spaces in because the boards kept making it a smiley face... there is a backslash after the C and colon)

Threat name:
Adware.Minibug

I've run Adaware and Spybot but it's still on here. The google I did gave me seven results and as I said I didn't really understand what they were saying. (duh) Any help would be appreciated. (or a site that I could go to that might help me ... all my google responses were newgroups and they were showing all kinds of stuff and I got confused)

Vesi

P. S. If this is hijacking or derailing a thread just remove and I'll post someplace else.

P. S. S. It took all the backslashes out of my post but I'm sure computer folk know where they should go.

yup, go in and delete the executable file.
I had that too that I deleted recently.

Go to your C: Drive folder, then program files, etc etc. until you see the wxbug.exe. Click on it and delete it.

Thanks. That sounds simple enough. I think when I googled it the people had lots of problems and that was just one included. Thanks again.
