So I’ve searched and found a world re-known tattooist in Japan. Horitoshi based in Osaka.

Samples (http://www.horitoshi2.or.tv/). Click on the little beetles along the left hand side. Amazing.

All I need to do now is find the phone number for his shop and set up an appointment, because I am positive this guy has weeks worth of work lined up.

Still can’t even find an address let alone phone number.

Tiger or phoenix on my left forearm. I’d like to draw this one myself this time, based on traditional designs.

That's funny, it just makes me want to find a street whore and hole up in a cheap hotel for 2 hours treating her like I paid for it.

That's cool, Backlash. Both of the tattoos I have are my own designs, that's way better than picking something off a wall. Good luck and let us see the finished product!

On one hand I agree. Its always best to get your own idea put in your skin.

But on the other hand I think tattooists are artists in their own right, and picking something from their catalogue, or having them understanding your idea and executing it to your satisfaction is just as relevant.

I would say walking into a place and saying tattoo me with whatever you want is not a good idea.

LOL, I agree. Maybe I should clarify - I'm no great artiste. Both of the tats I have are fairly simple - a crescent moon (horns up) and a lotus blossom. Both times, I drew bascially what I wanted and the artist added a bit of their own flourish.

I guess I've seen too many people walk into a shop and go, "ooooh, I want dolphin 44A!" :barf:

I agree, this is the one I designed with the help of the artist. It was his idea to make the hair and music coming out of the flute a rainbow.

I’ve posted this before, but it seems appropriate to post it again.

Anil Gupta (http://www.anilgupta.com/) is a tattooist in NY. He did my wings just out of a conversation. These were my first tattoos, so I was nervous. But he delivered exactly what I had in mind. Drew them right on the spot.

And yes, I have one on both ankles.

Backlash is Hermes... who knew?

Really cool tats on that site... They must be a gifted artist. I sooo want another tat. I have a mask and rose ala Phantom of the Opera on my outer right thigh.

GOD.

Those are incredible. Thanks for posting!

I dig the full body dragons. And the multi-colored deity art on a hunky man back. OMG. Total sex.

My lotus blossum is on the back of my neck, and the moon is on my lower back. What I thought would be really cool is like... hundreds of itty-bitty stars in a swirling spiral pattern like they're spilling down my back from the bottom of the flower to the top of the moon.

But that'd be a full-back tattoo, and that might be a little too hardcore for me.

Impressive stuff, Backlash.

How far in advance did you have to book him?

Two weeks, which is the same amount of time I had to book Anil.

I doubt I will actually get Horitoshi because his thing is the full body work. Deep skin as its translated in japanese. But, I’ll get one of his students, and thats good enough for me. Plus, we’ll kick around Osaka for a while. Second biggest city and there is a famous castle there.

Very nice!! I'm still looking for an artist that can/will do a tat in mostly white. I met a lady who has them however the artist has retired/fell off the face of the earth

I love the looks of some of the tats on that site though...almost enough to make me change my mind:D
