View Full Version : Been gone for 10 years need help and advice.

Hi I have been gone for 10 years and I have decided to come back. Lots of changes I see have happened. I understand that I can make changes to my stats and to my skills. I am looking for advice on how to make these changes. First of all I think i would like to use a runestaff. I see folks carrying them around and I think it will fit my character. Once he gets some clothing...Right now he is streaking through the landing. Anyway here are his stats and skills... He has 20 trains. I realize I made some mistakes in the past but that was 10 years ago. I would like to get him on the right path.

Okay there is his information. First I am thinking of dropping the shield and edge since he will using the runestaff. From reading the posts..I gather I need to
1x arcane
1x MIU
2x Spell aim
2x Harness Power ?
1x Mana share elemental

What about these lores? Someone mentioned that i could drop these and start training in them when I am 40.

I plan on dropping the pickpockets
Possibly dropping the first aid and survival.
What about perception? does this help in anything?

Physical fitness till max blood.

trading is nice..but i want to iron out his other skills first...i might drop these for now.

armor...what do i need so i can wear doubles?

need help on the spell circles. 2x to 3x
should I 1x in Wizard for life? then pick up ranks in the other circles.

I have been trying to understand the changes to enchanting....what should I do to him to allow him to enchant in the future.

If you want to enchant, I'd keep 1x in the 900s, 2x miu, 1x-2x AS, 1x ele share and stay as close to 1x in the 500s as possible.
Runestaves are nice because to get good runestaff defenses, you're basically forced to train in these skills (2x miu, 2x AS, 1x-2x hp, 1x ele share, 2x SA). That said, runestaff DS is inferior to shield/weapon. Its tougher to have rounded out magic skills (and thus good enchanting skills) with sword/board, but it IS better from a mechanics DS standpoint.
Me personally, I sorta hybrid, not sure how its going to work, but I 1x shield, 1x AS, 2x MIU, 1x HP, 1x lores, 2x SA, 1x ele share and have 900s at level and 500s close. Not a lot of 400s, but I get brills from others and really only miss 425 and 430. I think even without weapon training, just 1xing shield, I still beat out runestaff users for DS in defensive, defitinely in offensive.
My thoughts...do with them what you will. Also...1xing one lore is not all that great. In terms of usefulness, I'd .6x earth lore and .3x fire lore. That will keep ya unencumbered, effectively add damage padding to your armor via 520, give ya nice DFs with our two most useful spells (510 and 906) and get ya some improvement with 519. Also makes one heckuva a boil (increased targets and increased damage).

Capable of enchanting to 7x. Bout 380 DS in defensive, maybe 330 in offensive? No problems hunting in Bonespear which is still above his level.

Are those edged/shield ranks being dumped Stun? And are those DS numbers using a stave?

The Magician is OHE/Shield. I've got the Wizard's pavis for him, so there is no way I'd go to runestaff.
