You raise your hand while murmuring a soft orison, focusing on the Resurrection spell...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture at Jacilhob.
Roundtime: 35 sec.
A brilliant glow forms around Jacilhob, lingers for a moment, then fades.
Your surroundings grow dim...you lapse into a state of awareness only, unable to do anything...
Jacilhob seems slightly different.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.
Jacilhob suddenly slides northwest.
Lord Aelion just went west.
Syyre gestures while calling upon the lesser spirits for aid...
Syyre gestures at you.
You are no longer stunned.
You blink.
You have a foreboding sense of darkness enveloping your soul as you realize Jacilhob has died while both of you are still soul linked! You can sense the tugging of Jacilhob's soul clinging on to life, pulling you headlong into the long dark. It takes every ounce of spiritual energy you have to sever the link and claw yourself back to the world of the living! You feel empty and torpid, unable to focus your spiritual self.
* Jacilhob just bit the dust!
Your face goes blank.
You recover somewhat from the strain of the spiritual ordeal, taking great comfort in the thought that you had the opportunity to sacrifice part of yourself in the service of your god.
You belt out, "Whoever just killed him, thanks a damn lot. Now I can't raise for an hour!"
You stand back up.
You curse the day you were born.
Lord Aelion just arrived.
Syyre stands up.
You stare at Aelion.
Speaking to Aelion, you ask, "Did you just kill him?"
peer sw
You peer southwest and see ...
[Town Square, Southwest]
This corner of the square seems somewhat subdued. Townsfolk pass through on their way to the shops, the bazaar, or the main well at the center of the square. Others hurry past, anxious to get home or go on about their business. You also see a wood-sided shop and a cobblestone walkway leading up to a wrought-iron gate.
Obvious paths: north, northeast, east, south, west
Aelion confidently asks, "What just happened?"
You say, "Someone killed him while I was still linked."
Novaline tenderly says, "July 25th."
Saltave just arrived.
Saltave just went east.

You gesture while calling upon the lesser spirits to aid you with the Locate Person spell...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture into the air.
Your vision begins to become murky and clouded. You have a sensation of rapidly passing distance. Eventually your sight begins to clear and a vision of Jacilhob's surroundings fills your mind...
[Town Square, Northwest]
This corner of the square is lively and hectic. A number of representatives of the Landing's population, including several elven loggers and a party of rough-looking dwarves, loiter around the door of the Raging Thrak Inn, where the rowdy cheers of patrons and voices raised in songs of many sorts, from snatches of heroic ballads to blushingly bawdy tunes, beckon you to enter.
Also here: Syyre, the body of Jacilhob who is lying down
Obvious paths: north, east, southeast, south
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.
Aelion confidently says, "Woah..."
Libria just arrived.
Libria just went northwest.

Syyre murmurs a simple, mystical chant...
Syyre concentrates.

You raise your hand while murmuring a soft orison, focusing on the Preservation spell...
Your spell is ready.
You gesture at Jacilhob.
You hear a gentle voice whisper to you, "The soul of Jacilhob is already bound by the web of PRESERVATION, my child."
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.
You say, "Great."

I can't bind while in RT or I would have. I did bind him before he left so the next cleric didn't get hindered from it.
I literally just raised the fool when someone dragged him out. Freaking sucks, at least I know who I have to kill now if it happens again.

Bah I was just thinking that myself, but you already said it... Sooo
I hate it when someone that acts high and mighty about RPing comes after you as an older character because you put their younger character to sleep and then lies and says they aren't that character. Some people I am really glad don't play gemstone anymore.
I also hate people taking IG ooc. A wench has pretty much harassed my best friend into not playing/hardly playing gemstone at all anymore... Iming someone to bitch constantly about how their character left your character IG is just dumb. Nuff said.

Alright, so I figure there is no point RP'ing bantering anymore. This chick and Aura started politely debating back and forth about how sexy giants are. Aura respected her opinion, even said as much and then ignored her for about five minutes while talking to others. Then she was talking to her family and friends when she hid and said something. Zestina decided to interfere in Aura's convo once more and then Aura began to put her in her place. Telling her that she basically wasn't a Lady and such. The usual garbage, and then this is where this took off.
Zestina clearly says, "I am not a mercenary."
Speaking quietly to Zestina, you say, "Then you belong in a kitchen, baking goods for the next man that decides to pamper your mouth."
Philosilan starts chortling.
Zestina clearly says, "Silly place this city is."
Speaking quietly to Zestina, you say, "You're welcome to leave, Miss."
Dessedemona says, "Aura is tellin it like it is."
lean celee
You come out of hiding.
You lean softly against Celeerial.
Celeerial smiles at you.
You join Celeerial.
Celeerial cuddles up close with you, smiling.
Speaking quietly to Celeerial, you say, "The Ladies here are awfully presumptious."
Dessedemona says, "Not all aura."
Celeerial smiles at you.
Zestina clearly says, "So is your mouth."
Celeerial glances at Zestina.
Speaking softly to you, Freessia says, "Not! ."
Zestina clearly says, "I did nothing to anyone here."
You smile quietly to yourself.
You quietly say, "Forgive me, I did not mean all."
Freessia grins at you.
Freessia adopts an agreeable expression.
Dessedemona glances at Zestina.
Zestina clearly says, "And I am not what you are implying."
Dessedemona asks, "Not a lady?"
Speaking quietly to Zestina, you say, "You certainly do carry on and dribble your spittle about like someone was caring enough to actually be spit on."
Edine turns to face you.
Celeerial clears her throat.
Speaking quietly to Zestina, you say, "Please, hold your breath and your words."
Zestina clearly says, "FUCK YOU."
Dessedemona snickers.
Diynasta says, "Whoa."
Edine says, "Worry not for her, she has eyes for me, its completely heathly that she would be jealous."
Celeerial's jaw drops.
You give your eyebrow a little workout.
Vaktof slowly says, "Fight fight fight."
Mythala blinks.
Dessedemona says, "Oh my."
Edine blinks.
Diynasta says, "Meow."
You quietly say, "Goodness."
Celeerial covers her ears.
Mythala softly says, "Whoa."
Atreau says, "I missed it."
You quietly say, "My ears are burning."
Atreau says, "What happened."
You cover your ears.
Dessedemona says, "Mine too aura."
Ahh, gotta love the RP found on the dais. It's not all bad mind you, but lately, it's been complete trash. I didn't even bother rp'ing with her further, because obviously she wasn't rp'ing anymore. I seriously hate that crap.
Edited to add: I deleted background noise and stuff that didn't pertain directly to the situation since it was busy and on the dais.

Her tone is not permanently set. The thing is, Aurawyn is quiet most of the time. If something happens to disturb her peace and stir up emotion, I'll change it when needed, of course. :)
Perhaps you shouldn't comment on other people's rp with their characters unless you know what their character is about. :D

I fail to understand why you can't discuss the merit or demerits of someone's RP if you have tone set.
I have tone set on one character, my empath. She is very soft spoken, but I will shift it when warrented. It's like poker, you need to know when to hold'em and when to fold'em, or in this case, actually think about what you're saying and whether or not your default tone is the appropriate tone to say it in.

You posted this on a public board, everyone can and will make a comment about things when you put them up for discussion. There is no prerequisite that folks have to understand your character in order to make an observation.
I honestly found this statement to be very telling about RP.
You belt out, "Whoever just killed him, thanks a damn lot. Now I can't raise for an hour!"
As a player of a cleric, I know that there are plenty of ways to get around blurting out something that's akin to "Can I get a DS check?"

As far as the tone issue, even when you are kind of scolding that woman your talking quietly, even when you say my ears are burning and goodness its all done "quietly" tone is too easy to misuse I prefer to use no tone.

Eh, perhaps it is OOC. The fact is, he can't raise for an hour because I look at it being that his God was displeased with the power given to him and stripped him of that power for an hour.
Am I suppost to say that while my cleric is clearly upset and frustrated? I guess I will have to in the future.
As for making comments about my RP with my characters.. I realise that this is a board and people are able to make comments on them. Doesn't mean that his assumptions are correct or he has business making them about a subject he has no clue about.
Same goes with everyone, including me. I guess if you want to assume about someone's character and the RP to go with it.. you could. It's just an uneducated statement in the end and has no real hold on the thread to me. ::shrugs::

I hate it when I take a whole bunch of wounds from someone, many of them serious, and the person turns around and HUGS me. I mean, I've got broken bones, blood flowing from a number of places and a load of pain. PLEASE don't make it worse.
I know I'm probably one of the few empaths that play like that, so not everyone will know. I really don't go after people about it unless I make it really clear. Most times if they hug me, I'll suppress a wince (using act) and bow to them. Hopefully they'll get the message.

Why is the cleric not able to raise for an hour? It's due to a mechanical issue, implemented by the GMs. You can get around that by saying something like you can't muster the ability right now. Or as I will tell bodies that pile up in the rift, I'll see to giving you life when I gather the strength. That's a bit different than saying, I have to wait for a timer on my Well of Life.
Is it in the same category as "Who won the ball game?" nope, but it is for someone who professes to be a pretty serious RPer.
Who cares why it was put in place? Reasoning doesn't matter. The fact is.. You can't raise for an hour. Simple as that. No reason was stated why, just that she couldn't.

Well, I think you know that there are people on this board that seriously dislike constant tones, and do not hesitate to make it known.
As for having business making comments, again, this is a board that you posted your scenario on...how is it not his business to comment or make observations on what you brought to the table? If you want people to form opinions and offer comments based on certain criteria, then you need to state that up front. People are not mind readers.

Fighting.. hmm.. not necessarily a RAWR I'LL GET YOU, fight. To me, it's more like a debate. If that makes more sense.
I didn't come on here to vent. My character was mad. Perhaps I was a bit peeved, but that never lasts long at all. I forget about it and move on. Grudges and constantly going off on things is really not my thing. So with the log, it's something I hate that happens.
Fact is, I was trying to start a topic, not a free for all to make shots at me, my characters, and the way I RP. It happened that way, so I take it in stride and move along.
I think what you people see as defensive or irritation is just me trying to explain myself. You guys comment and have opinions on a lot of stuff, and basically, I respect your opinions. The good with the bad.

Well, I understood what you were saying Div. Honestly, when cleric is unable to raise for an hour due to game mechanics, I just normally say that his Deity is displeased and he's not able to perform her works for a bit. I don't normally specify an hour but I don't really find anything wrong with saying 'an hour' either.
As to RP. You know, my personal feeling on RP is that it would be great to be able to be consistent 100% of the time. I would love to be able to never mess up, never make mistakes, never have anything that I can look back on later and say "oops, I screwed that up and it was OOC" or something to the effect. However, in reality, very few if any, RP'ers are perfect and we all can make mistakes.
Using a constant tone can help to make those mistakes when your character gets angry and suddenly yells at someone quietly or softly because you the player forgot to change the tone. I don't feel that using a constant tone makes someone a bad RP'er though, nor do I feel that yelling out "I can't raise for an hour" makes someone a bad RP'er. I think that until you have been around said character(s) for a bit of time and have experienced how the player RP's them on a consistent basis, you can't really make an educated judgement. Mainly because noone is perfect and they will make mistakes. The mistake you see may be the only mistake said person has made in 2 months..or maybe 2 weeks. And yet during the other times that they are RPing they are consistent and believable, even inspiring in their RPing.
Just my opinion I realize, but I've seen many many really good RP'ers (IMO anyhow they were good) that messed up from time to time or abused tone for a bit, or anything along that messup line.

Everything you said Jolena is correct. I was trying to tell Div, and not doing a very good job at it - that logs really don't show the intensity of the moment, the timing or really exactly how something went down - and in part due to that - you may not get the results that you would normally expect. People will key on something and miss the point of the entire log. I have gotten to the point that I don't post logs, when I did post one about the way a GM handled things - it was picked apart in minute detail.
Div - I didn't mean to equate you to Michaelous or Lycain - just merely that that the tale of logs around here ends up usually not in favor of the poster. :)
