At E3, three gaming systems were unveiled. The Xbox 360, The Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Revolution. The Xbox and the P3 have better graphics, online support and all around better systems. The Nintendo Revolution will be backwards compatible and have the whole Nintendo library to download onto your system. Personally I want at least one of each.

I'll probably buy a PS3.

The last time I touched a video game was Grand Theft Auto SA, I think. I stopped at like 26%.

One of each at least. It's sad to think my whole gaming system will be obsolete soon. :sniffle:

I'm most excited about the Xbox 360 though, that just looks awesome.

Especially since you get an Xbox Live profile that remembers all the things you did in games. Bragging rights here I COME! :D

PS3 for sure.. but I actually researched my opinion (for once!!!).

I watched the E3 convention unveilings of the Xbox 360, Nintendo Revolution and Playstation 3. Xbox 360 and PS3 both look good, and I know nothing about the Revolution because they spent the first shit load of time bragging about how they beat the PSP into europe (so I turned it off). From what I have seen, PS3 will out perform the Xbox 360, however, I don't know how good the games will be. What I know is Sony still has the Final Fantasy series, and that's good enough for me.

Xbox. I've been permanently converted.

The only thing Nintendo Revolution has going for it is Zelda's and marios when they come out and the backwards compatibility. They are making it so you can use just about the entire nintendo gaming collection on it by downloads or what have you. Anyone up for some Gauntlet or Bubble Bobble? :D

Like the PS and PS2, there'll probably be 5-15 great games and 50,000 shitty ones.

Hips

PS3 and probably the Xbox too.

I really don't care about console gaming, but I'll probably end up with the Xbox and PS3 at some point.

PC MMORPGs for me. All the way. Until someone actually makes a headset with 3D graphic visor, or a holodeck, then I’ll switch.

But I lie... I was a SuperNintendo owner, but switched over to PS. I’ll probably see what the new PS has to offer first.

That's what I'm thinking. They previewed a lot of good games and concepts, but ya never know. I do know they have hinted at re-creating the past FF series, but that could very well be (and would be a great) marketing ploy. I have to get even on the off chance of another FF7.

I wouldn't lay my chips on that bet.

And yes, before anyone jumps my ass, I know the 'specs' at E3 showed the PS3 as being more powerful.

Regardless, we didn't see a finished 360.

Planning to get the PS3 for my son at some point. Never owned an Xbox and probably won't start now either. Not that it doesn't look great, but I'm already spending a fortune, as is my son of his allowance, on PS2 games.

Only Gemstone for me. And a short fling I had with WoW that one time.

But the husband had to have all of them. I totally didnt get it. He would get a system, buy every worthy game in sight, beat them 2x and get all the prizes (or whatever you people do), and then never play said system again.....Until the next one came out. WTF??

I'll definitely be buying a PS3 and 360. 360 has an amazing looking zombie game coming out shortly after release, and I'm a sucker for stuff like that. Hundreds of zombies on screen at once!

The PS3 I'll be picking up for new GTA games, and I've just overall liked my PS2 more than my XBox.

I'll pick up the Revolution if a new Mario Kart game comes out, and then pick up whatever I missed. Nintendo comes out with some awesome games, but third party games are historically weak. Plus they rely way too much on gimmicks.

So definitely the PS3 and 360, maybe Revolution.

Gemstone is the only game I do, none of the PS's or XBOX's.

I would purchase a hand held game system though, to play Mahjongg or Bejeweled games at work or on the train commuting.

no gemstone, no wow = no system

however, if a new halo comes out that is actually worth playing, unlike halo 2, it may be a different story

I absolutely have to have an XBOX 360.

I was always a fan of Sony's Playstation but when I got an XBOX I quickly realized that all of my dislike for Microsoft and everything like that was pointless. Microsoft really does have the better system and its a shame that most people are so blinded by their dislike for Microft that they won't give the XBOX a shot. The XBOX Live! service is in a word, amazing. The game library of unique titles has been steadily growing with unique titles such as Halo, Fable, Ninja Gaiden, Steel Battalion, and more. Not to mention that SquareEnix is going to begin producing games for the XBOX 360 as well as the PS3.

That isn't to say that I won't want to get a PS3 as well, (I'm a sucker for Armored Core titles), I just think that I'll spend my money on an XBOX 360 first. :)

^^ Cosign. The only difference is PS2 offers live for free, but I have no problem paying for live as I feel it's completely worth it the cost.

As for Halo 2 ... I have to agree that the campaign just isn't worth playing or finishing in my case. I only play Halo 2 on xbox live, matter of fact its my most played game but only on live.

Halo 2's single player campaign was.... lacking, yes. The game shines on XBOX Live!.

PS3 almost for sure, 360 maybe 75% chance, I was a complete Nintendo fan and skipped the whole Gamecube thing, but I'm starting to get drawn back in. I mean, Zelda, come on!

I'm a Playstation guy. And I'm sure I'll stay that way. Xbox has maybe 3 games I'd be interested in playing.

I'm also looking forward to the PSP connectivity with the PS3. Supposedly (in games like Madden) you'll be able to use your PSP as a controller and choose your plays on your PSP's screen. Instead of the current way of your opponent knowing it will be one of four plays that are on the TV screen.

Huge Historic Library. Revolution will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

That's awesome.

PS3 and Revolution. The PS3 for the large access to the games that'll be coming out of it, and Revolution for all the franchises that I grew up with.

Not a big fan of Xbox. There's really not that many good games on it, except for maybe Ninja Gaiden and Mechwarrior. I'm probably the only person who thinks Halo 1 and 2 sucked, but that's because I've been playing first person shooters since Wolfenstein, and I can't give up the mouse/keyboard control. And yes, I also thought GoldenEye 64 sucked.

They have some adapters out there for XBox that will allow you to use the mouse/keyboard combo for games like Halo.

Whether they're worth a fuck or not though, I don't know.

My modded xbox has a 100 gig hard drive and everyone of my xbox games and about 100 movies in divx format on it. It also plays my music, and can get streaming video from the net. If you can make the old one do that, I can't wait to see what the modders will do to the 360....
and if anyone is a modding freak, no I didn't pay someone to do it, I did it myself, but I bought the sodderless chip because I am a pansy.

If you split open an xbox dongle, you'll see its USB. Lotsa people have hooked up keyboards and mouses to their xboxs. There is a whole community of techies who do nothing but mod xboxs

I work for IBM (well, okay, IBM sold my division to Lenovo, but we're still sorta IBM hehe), I've had to sit through presentations on all sorts of new technology lately and a hot topic seems to be the 360 vs. PS3. Why? IBM is providing the processor for both ;)

We have a short "cheat sheet" with a few stats (some specific) as a comparison. Having owned a PS2, I'll probably put my money into a PS3... but PC games still beat consoles any day of the week!

Microsoft Xbox 360
- Shipping late 2005
- IBM PowerPC (three cores; six threads)
- 500MHz ATI graphics (High Definition 1080p)
- 512 MB SDRAM memory
- Liquid cooling
- 20 GB removable disk
- USB 2.0 port
- Wireless controllers
- Internet (ethernet) and wireless (802.11g) gaming
- 10 times faster than current Xbox

Sony PlayStation 3
- Shipping 2006
- IBM Cell Processor (3.2 GHz; eight cores; ten threads)
- 256 MB XDR memory by Rambus
- 550 MHz NVIDIA graphics (High Definition 1080p) supporting two monitors
- Two gigabit ethernet ports
- 802.11g wireless and Bluetooth
- Two times faster than Xbox 360

Don't forget that the x-box has 512 MB of ram on the video card and the video card and the PS3 has 0 on it's card. Also the x-box is running DDR ram.

"- Two times faster than Xbox 360"

Just made up a number? Two times faster in what? Using what actual mesurement?

Annana

No one here made up random numbers! It's just based on comparisons between the two system specs.

Overall System Floating-Point Performance
360: 1 teraflop
PS3: 2 teraflops

____________

"The PlayStation 3 will feature the Cell processor, which will run at 3.2GHz, giving the whole system 2 teraflops of overall performance. It will sport 256MB XDR main RAM at 3.2GHz, and it will have 256MB of GDDR VRAM at 700MHz.

The PS3's graphics chip, the RSX "Reality Synthesizer," is based on Nvidia technology. The GPU will be capable of 128bit pixel precision and 1080p resolution. The RSX also has 512MB of graphics render memory and is capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second. It also has more than 300 million transistors, larger than any processor commercially available today. It will be manufactured using the 90nm process, with eight layers of metal. The RSX is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards, which would cost roughly $1,000 total if purchased today."

Xbox 360 has Resident Evil, Halo 3, and the new Morrowind. I am sold.
