NAIROBI - A 73-year-old Kenyan grandfather reached into the mouth of an attacking leopard and tore out its tongue to kill it, authorities said Wednesday.

Peasant farmer Daniel M’Mburugu was tending to his potato and bean crops in a rural area near Mount Kenya when the leopard charged out of the long grass and leapt on him.

M’Mburugu had a machete in one hand but dropped that to thrust his fist down the leopard’s mouth. He gradually managed to pull out the animal’s tongue, leaving it in its death-throes.

“It let out a blood-curdling snarl that made the birds stop chirping,” he told the daily Standard newspaper of how the leopard came at him and knocked him over.

The leopard sank its teeth into the farmer’s wrist and mauled him with its claws. “A voice, which must have come from God, whispered to me to drop the panga (machete) and thrust my hand in its wide-open mouth. I obeyed,” M’Mburugu said.

As the leopard was dying, a neighbor heard the screams and arrived to finish it off with a machete.

M’Mburugu was toasted as a hero in his village Kihato after the incident earlier this month. He was also given free hospital treatment by astonished local authorities.

“This guy is very lucky to be alive,” Kenya Wildlife Service official Connie Maina told Reuters, confirming details of the incident.

Damn, dude. That guy is hardcore. Just goes to prove what you see in kung fu movies - never fuck with the old man. He just might rip out your damn tongue.

Yeesh!

Yeah, what you said, be careful of those older folks, they have been through lives tests already and passed them so don't think they are soft or anything just because they are old!

I keep thinking that they don't make people like they used to.

My grandfather built 3/4 of his house adding on to a tiny home till it had four bedrooms and 2.5 baths.

He was in the army and served in the cavalry. We have photos of him riding two horses at the same time, standing with one foot on each horse.

He married and he and his wife had NINE children supporting them all and making sure all got through college.

Retired and then took care of his wife who had alzheimers until her death.

It just feels as if they don't make them like that anymore as that leopard found out :)

I bet he doesn't wear banana republic. Using algebra, we can say that Arkans is not a real man.

Several years ago, an old blind man was attacked in Philadelphia; he just happened to be a master of martial arts and broke the necks of both of his attackers in defense.

Fuck not with the old people.

Heh. My great-great aunt, at 70, was accosted and robbed of purse while standing on her doorstep unlocking her door. The young man who stole her purse was in for the surprise of his life.

Aunt Deah turned around, and promptly thwapped the hell out of the little bastard with her cane. Knocked him down and kept beating the hell out of him until he was convinced that he'd made a very bad decision. The neighbor had already called the police when she saw what was going on, and they arrived in a timely manner, saving the life of the idiot on the ground. Deah would have happily kept on beating him until he was thoroughly done being a purse snatcher. :D

Old people are damn crafty, and sneaky too.

All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.

Yeah, god wanted to save a worthless peasant. I don't believe this happened, or the leopard musta been close to death. For instance any leopard that ain't quick enough to neck an 73 year old is most likely just an overgrown common cat, or a mongrel of the two.

The story says the leopard bit his wrist! Wtf kinda leopard trys to hold hands with you?

More like... the leopard bit the man's arm, and a neighbor came and saved his ass with a machete...

And you think this 73 year old peasant is 'worthless' because...?

We all have worth in the eyes of God. Even you.

I dont find it hard to believe that a farmer, who's probably worked with hand implements for the past 60 years (ie, incredibly strong hands), shoving his hand down the animals open mouth (initiating a gag reflex which means biting is impossible) and pulling on a rather large tongue until it came out. I bet he's got one hell of a grip.

Looks feasable to me.

There is no Jesus. Thanks for playing but this is your last turn use it well.

The leopard prolly died of natural causes and the villagers found it and invented this story so they don't get arrested for killing an endangered animal.

Probably best we not turn this into a religious debate.
