These wristbands are becoming the ribbons of the 2000's

A few amusing ones (WoW related):

Carebear Wristbands (http://www.80stees.com/pages/t-shirts/80s-cartoon/Care_Bears_t-shirts.asp)

I did find a personalized one for PB, though.

See. Now. What I'm left wondering is, what kind of google searches Wezas was doing to find those Care Bears wristbands....

Well the one.org website that Tayre posted had a big wristband link and I know that PB is always calling us WoW RPers "carebear's" so I thought I'd search to see if there was such an item.

What does a clear colored wristband signify among high school students?

AnticorRifling
06-24-2005, 12:18 PM
That they can't pick a favorite color because they want to fit in with every cliche.

Bobmuhthol

I've never seen someone wearing a clear wristband.

Multiple people have like two of the rubber ones on each wrist and I feel like kicking them in the mouth.

I had a brilliant idea: order a wristband that says "Bobmuhthol Rules!"

Unfortunately, no place will take orders of less than 500.

The wrist bands are lame and have always been so. That is all.

Agreed

I might wear one on July 1st(white band day) but only because it ties into the reduction of african debt and the Live 8 concert which is a 2 minute walk from my apt. Yaay for being able to watch from my balcony.

A couple of my friends wear two on their wrist, each one has the name of someone from their unit that got killed in action.

I've never seen nor heard of them being worn for any other reason. Sounds kinda not so straight....

06-24-2005, 04:00 PM
afster the black bands like that are a bit differnt than the ones they are talking about here.

Slap bracelets, as Anticor mentioned, were superior to the crappy rubber bracelet.

Were the Livestrong bracelets the orignals?

Slap bracelets were awesome. If you owned them too long, the metal edges came through and you could give them to kids you didn't like as "presents" -- after modifying them in metalshop.

I think I was in 3rd-4th grade when the slap bracelets were big, so no metal shop for me. We just took scissors and put some jaggies on the end.

I preferred to use metal shop, which just happened to be mixed with plastic shop, for more intriguing endeavors.

ElanthianSiren

You didn't have metalshop in 4th grade? We had that and woodshop in 5th, home ec in 6th, and some other useless activity in 7th, maybe the other half (cooking) of home ec (sewing).

:shrugs: I am proudly sporting a "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" yellow bracelet that was purchased from AAFES so the profits go back into the MWR program for the military.

Dude, that Care Bears website takes me back. My parents still have all my old bears stuffed in a closet somewhere, I bet I could get mad cash for them on ebay. I loved the Care Bears.

On the bracelet trend, they tried to get the dealers at work to stop wearing them (Livestrong) because they look fucking stupid with the uniform. But then someone whined that their freedom of expression for their dad who had ball cancer or something was being taken away, so HR caved.

i have two wristbands,

one was for something I don't know, it's red and says 'Believe', some children charity or something, my room=mate gave it to me

the other is blue, and says 'Live Chaldean', i bought it from my friend's business partner, half as a joke(i'm not chaldean), and half for the charity it was being sold for.

oddly enough, I kinda like them.

Chaldean usually refers to lighter skinned arabs. They tend to be considered the merchant class, and also tend to be christian.

See, I live in a state with a large arabic population, so you tend to get exposed to the culture.

and chaldeans win @ business.

Watch the leather in the shower, physical activity, or doing dishes hon. I had one of those break at the snap when I ran a lot :( It made me very sad.

I wear two bracelets. A white one that says Jesus Loves Me, and a black one that says I Did Not Vote 4 Bush.

I kind of like putting the two sentiments together.

And I just ordered a Geek bracelet. Curse you Bob!

I believe so and I have one and a black one that says, "Support the Arts". Do I wear it? No. They cost about a dollar and went to good charities. The rest, I don't know.

I was going to get a plastic bracelet but I don't chew cud or moo.

No actually I hate the feel of a watch or anything around my wrist when I'm at work & it gets wet from handwashing constantly(yuck!).

Soo, my oldest daughter wears about a dozen on each arm...I could say she wears mine for me  She has some really nice ones, a lavender, a red, white & blue support our troops one & of course a boatload of others.
