To those who feel the need to sit around at merchant events and complain about or threaten those who dared to come from out of town to attend. . .get over it already. The merchant is not your personal property. If the GM wanted to run a citizens-only merchant, he would.

And no, it doesn't make you a virtuous person if you only ever attend the merchants in your home town. It makes you lazy.

Where the heck did this spawn from?

People muttering to themselves at every Drogur event I've attended so far, plus a few added complaints from the official boards.

That stuff is such nonsense.

....

Don't you have to actually have citizenship to be part of Drogur's thing? As in, hang in the town for however long it takes, sign up in the town hall, etc?

Nope that's for the tattoo artist that's touring Elanthia.

My character never belonged to any town. If anyone got all heated over him being there, They'd better have lots of friends to put the pieces of them back together.

In this case, I agree. The GM's got it right when they have merchants that work ONLY for citizens.

For all other merchants, its first come, first serve.

A fine balance.

I wish Shimm had been for this tattoo merchant. Would love to see his scars from Ent made into a tattoo.

I DO like the concept of working for citizens only. But if the merchant doesn't specify, then they're fair-game for everyone. So if there ARE people whining and bitching, tell them to walk back over to the "tree" that the "scroll" is on, squint real hard, and maybe they'll read the thing correctly.

The whole "citizenship" crap was one of the straws that finally forced my decision to go.

It was utterly ludicrous to me that I'd played the game for so many years, based in the Landing, and suddenly was not a citizen because of some stupid mechanic that should have grandfathered existing characters in anyway. It absolutely shattered the suspension of disbelief for me.

Eh. Didn't you beta/alpha? They gave out free citizenship for that.

That's stupid... people bitching about traveling... I bet some of them run around following the calendar to get alters elswhere as well... The only thing I really feel like bitching about at merchants is when someone brings a bunch of their zombies and gets extra work done when the work is limited.

Personally, I don't see an issue with the zombies either. If they pay for extra accounts, those accounts should have the same amount of opportunity for work as everyone else. I guess I'm in the minority in that issue though, I know lots of folks who don't like people MA'ing at events.

The way I look at it, if people from a town don't need you there for merchants, they sure as hell don't need you there to help with invasions or anything else, either.

A few years back I and some others got brushed off from Haven as 'Landing scum' and told to leave. A couple weeks later DA forces kicked Haven's collective ass and occupied the entire town, but hey, they didn't need us Landing people.
