I'm seriously considering selling my current computer in hopes of getting one that is more graphics-intensive.

I will format the hard drive and reinstall Adobe Photoshop 7.0, The Sims 2 (no CD required), Microsoft VisualBasic 6.0, Microsoft C++ 6.0, Ahead Nero 6 Ultra Edition, Microsoft Office, and All Sound Recorder XP. I will either leave the current XP Home SP1 on the machine, or install XP Pro SP1.

Specs:
eMachines T2542
2.5 GHz Intel Celeron processor
48x CD-RW drive
40GB HDD
256MB DDR-SDRAM PC2700 upgradable to 2GB
2 RAM slots
6 USB ports
Intel Extreme Graphics controller
Realtek AC'97 sound card

Any shipping costs incurred will be paid by buyer. I'm open to offers.

I've decided that $250 takes this machine indefinitely. It's not available at a retailer for under $300, and I'm bundling hundreds in software.

Install files will be included for all software (excluding Microsoft Office, which I can copy CDs for if necessary) as well as their respective serial keys.

<<No one wants your used pos emachine.>>

No one knows a good, cheap computer when they see one.

You'd most certainly be better off taking out the one or two pieces you could utilize on building a new system and just selling the rest for parts on eBay ... might even possibly get the money your asking for the computer as a whole.

kind of off-topic, but what's the stigma against e-machines?

A computer is as good as what's inside the case IMO.

<<kind of off-topic, but what's the stigma against e-machines?>>

I deal exclusively with eMachines. eMachines and Dell are the most reliable retail PCs you're going to find. I laugh at anyone who tries to degrade eMachines if they hold any respect for Compaq or HP.

emachines blow. If you buy bob's computer, buy mine too, it just needs a new power supply.

256 ram
GeForce 5200 128 mb graphics card Digital out, 2 monitor capability
1.6 Ghz
oodles of usb ports, etc etc
If I listed all the games that were on it, it'd be worth more than the computer is.
40 gb HD
a bunch of other shit.

Lowered price to $249.99 because eMachines suck so bad.

So, so dumb.

As I recall PC World had an article showing E-machines customer reported reliability had improved markedly.

It was in the top two or three as was their tech support.

I still use Dell, but any company can improve.

We used to laugh at Toyata and Honda.

I would, but I almost killed myself screwing around with a really old machine. I took out the belts and now I can't figure out wtf I'm doing, so now it's unusable. The only one I figured out was primary HDD.

Those would be IDE cables.

Bobmuhthol

My bad, I've always just called them belts.

Hulkein

Just letting you know... if you search for stuff regarding IDE cable setup you might be able to find out what you did wrong and fix it.

Bobmuhthol

I hope so. I was planning on setting this up as a test machine. Put XP Pro on it and start running viruses like crazy.

Ebondale

Tip for you Bob:

On IDE cables the red-edged side of the ribbon (pin-1) will 99% of the time point towards the power supply plug on the device the ribbon is connected to.

Bobmuhthol

Oh, and it does have the other side of the case. That was for interior purposes.

You spilled Mountain Dew in it didn't ya?

just kidding.

Though, might want to clean it up a bit though and get the dust outta there.

Bobmuhthol

Cleaning and dusting is easy enough. I didn't have my compressed air handy when I took the pictures.

I only have like four mediocre things saved (4-video series, Tawnee Stone gallery, two galleries of some chicks).

Damn, ever hear of a broom? Clean your damn floor ya slob.

Also you want to get that metal slot back in place on the back of the computer, leaving an opening like that ruins any filtering the case has which is prolly why you have a fuckton of dust inside.

Hulkein
06-19-2005, 11:44 PM
I don't think he has any filtering to begin with.

My question is...

Is that bare plywood flooring in place where carpet used to be? That so looks like bare decking.
