View Full Version : Favorite and Most Hated Superheros!

DCSL

Everyone's got their favorites and those they'd like to see burn in hell. Who and why?

I'll start.

Favorite:
Wonder Woman. Now that she's not just the JLA's secretary, she's awesome. Even blind, as she is now, she whoops everyones' asses wheneven they try to test her. She's really come a long way from her pompadour and skort days.

Runner up:
Batman. Very resourceful and intensely focused. He's also not perfect. I dig that.

Most Hated:
Superman. My boyfriend and I used to have hour-long debates about this, but I can't help it, I hate Superman. He reminds me of some of the really gorgeous girls I knew in high school in that, because they could easily get by on their looks, they never really developed their minds. And he's an overly trusting, stupid doob. Too much of an idealist. He's like a horse with blinders on.

Runner up:
H.E.R.B.I.E. from the Fantastic Four cartoon a while back. So. Lame.

Fav:

Charles Francis Xavier, Professor

Something about aboslute telepathic controll is just a elegant power to impose over others.

Hated:

Zan and Jayna aka The "Wonder Twins"

How absolutely pathetic of a power can you impose on a hero, or duo?

Short and to the point but thats my views.

Favorite: Spiderman. Loved his sense of humor when confronting an opponent.

Least Favorite: I'm with FallenSaint.. wonder twins were jokes.

I can't stand Batman. He's not even a superhero, just some rich putz with more money than good sense.

The best is definitely Superman. Not only can he run faster than a speeding bullet, fly and bench press a tank, he can see through women's clothes with his X-Ray vision. What more could you ask for?

Favorite: Emma Frost (the White Queen)
Least Favorite: Superman.

Favorites in chronological order...

Batman. Gothic ninja. Wealthy playboy.

Silver Surfer. Man, the coolest. Surfing through the universe. Sleek and silver. Ex-herald of Galactus...

Wolverine. Regenerative powers, adamantium reinforced skeletal structure AND BLADES THAT POP OUT OF HIS FISTS! Beer drinking, cigar smoking badass. Canadian, but so what.

I’ll think of a tons more and haven’t even gotten to the hates or villains yet!

Stunseed
06-16-2005, 03:37 PM
Favorite : Green Lantern.
Hated : Aquamariner or whatever the fuck his name was.

Skeeter
06-16-2005, 03:50 PM
Favorite: Daredevil, Deadpool, Punisher, Puck, Collossus <sp?>

Least: Spawn, Indian Chief, Iceman, Silver Surfer, Sabretooth

Daredevil, Puck, and Punisher are just flat bad ass.

Deadpool - Picture wolverine but funny and cool.

Collossus - loved the story line with him and his dead sister.

The least favorites were just lame as hell. I mean c'mon I travel the galaxy on my surf board? Hangin 10 duuud...endless summer, I totally need some munchies.

Tsunami
06-16-2005, 04:09 PM
Fav : Wonder Woman (the original)...come on, a woman with a rope that makes men tell the truth!

Runner up : Superman...I keep picturing Christopher Reeves in those tights....

Least Fav:  I guess the wonder twins...they were kind of lame.

WHAT? NO ONE IS MORE SARCASTIC THAN SPIDERMAN! TAKE IT BACK!

I'll have to look this Deadpool fella up. He sounds like my kind of superhero.

Favorites(my main stream heros were already listed):
Fone Bone from Bone, he's short, bald and has a big nose but he's got heart damnit!
Lusipher from Poison Elves. A killer but yet he isn't insane. He's had a hard life but is slowly turning into a hero of legends.
Lady Pendragon. There's something about a chick in chainmail...

Hated:
Silver Surfer. A surfboard... in space. WTF?
In general, super heros that are too freaking super. They require galatic threats in order to really try their abilities. Cosmic danger is cool every so often, every freaking issue gets to be lame.

Best Super Hero Quote:
Captain America in the Ultimates storyline, when told to surrender by someone pounding his face in. He responds by smashing his shield through the bad guy's torso and screams, "DO YOU THINK THIS LETTER ON MY HEAD STANDS FOR FRANCE?!"

I'm a big comic nerd, but here's a few of my faves: Polaris, Psylocke, Gambit, Emma Frost (that diamond form thing they gave her kicks ass), Shadowcat, Spiderman

Least faves: Most DC characters, Cyclops, Wolverine & gotta agree with Skeeter & Kitsun on Silver Surfer.. lame

Cartoon Batman.
Utterly my favourite.

The stretchy guy from the fantastic four.
Totally the worst.

My absolute two favorite superheroes: Batman and Gambit.

Batman kicks ass, he's the DARK KNIGHT. He's not just a rich boy, but a rich boy with issues, and that's so much more fun. I also like the fact that he's too cool for guns. (Though Punisher more than makes up for that.)

Gambit is the man too, for numerous reasons. The top one being that he takes people out with a deck of cards. What's not to love?

Bah there was this one guy whose name I can't remember. He used to run around the galaxy on a motorbike. He pissed off Superman once so bad that he knocked him literally off Earth. I think he was grey with a beard...

That reminds me of Ghost Rider, ah the seventies heros... which reminds me of Powerman and Iron Fist.

If you saw Blade II, the scene near the end where Ron Pearlman swings Blade’s sword at him, and Blade catches it mid swing between his palms... thats from an issue of Powerman/Iron Fist that John Byrne wrote and illustrated. Except when Iron Fist palmed it, the tip of the sword was so close it marred the tattoo on his chest.

Heros: Wolverine, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Archangel,Iron Man, Rogue, Dazzler(she's portrayed as bad in some series)
Villains: Apocalypse, Joker (can't think of any else, offhand)

Heros: Robin, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Aquamariner, Green Lantern, Jubilee.
Villains: Riddler, Scarecrow, Toad, (can't really think of anymore right now, either)

The thing that most disturbs me about the Silver Surfer is his utter lack of genitalia, yet he has a bulge. He is a freak of nature.

And I forgot a couple on my Most Hated. Hawkeye and Green Arrow. I hate that crap. Ooo, exploding arrows with a boxing glove on the end! How impractical and stupid!

The Darkness started out cool but I lost any interest in it somewhere in the 20s. Ditto for Witchblade and Fathom. I hate it when they switch out to crappier writers and artists.

StrayRogue
06-16-2005, 07:44 PM
They all followed the formula of Sin City/Spawn where the main character wasn't so nice and was tormented by shit blah blah blah.

Trinitis
06-16-2005, 07:46 PM
I would not know..I never went past the 5th on Darkness. I'm not much of a comic fan honestly. But, being that I've never read spawn or sin city or what ever, Darkness was the first, and only "dark" comic book I've ever read. Thats why I liked it.

Sandman & his sister, Death

Most Hated:
SWAMP THING!! I can't believe someone didn't get this one first! I hate the swamp thing comics. I detest every character contained therein from Abigail to Tefe to Anton -- I don't give a shit. I just hate the whole series.

 Vertigo. The only books I love better are the old covers of Heavy Metal by Luis Royo and Linsner's stuff.

That is some awesome inking Doom Patrol, not that The Invisibles isn't awesome in and of itself. I used to have a huge poster by Bolland -- gone now though sadly. He's incredible when it comes to human form as well.

Best Villain: Dr. Doom. The first Darth Vader. Hey, he didn’t use the Force, but he owned a fucking entire country (Latvia) and used its people and resources to further his megalomanic plans to destroy those who opposed him, the Fantastic Four, and eventually the rest of the world.

He didn’t even need a Pinky as a side-kick.

Worst: Superman.

Best Heroes: Batman & The Punisher

Why? Because these guys don't have any super powers. They're just regular guys who have happened to have had their families killed by criminals and have decided to take the law into their own hands. These guys are proof of what a regular person can do when they're really pissed off at the world. :)

Worst Hero: Aquaman & Captain Planet

:wtf: Talk to fish? FISH? You suck, Aquaman. Captain Planet doesn't really need to have anything said about him... its pretty obvious...

Gambit a sexy cajun with an unusual power.
I also loved Firestar... a monstrous amazing firey chick

Worst: Plastic man... he was so annoying.

Thought I'd add my fav villians.. Mister Sinister from the Xmen comics... Magneto as well though I don't exactly consider him a total villian. Cat woman.... though the same goes for her kinda.

Stupidest Villians: Rhino and anyone from Captain Planet.

Does it have to be Superheros? Because I really appreciate the decent villains.

Favourite Villains: Venom/Eddie Brock and "The Main Man" Lobo

Lobo was the shit, one of the only DC characters I actually took a major liking to. Blew up his home planet, was sent to hell and tried to take over, was sent to heaven and was kicked back to earth and turned into a squirrel!! Only to get killed and return, so God and Satan made a pact that Lobo can't die. Excellent
http://www.splashcomics.de/images/portraits/charaktere/whoiswho_lobo_2.jpg

And Venom is 1337 http://arte.tiscali.it/fumetto/Media/foto/agosto2002/uomoragno3/uomoragnonemici6--108x105.jpg. Carnage is a reckless murderer where as Venom actually has grey matter.

Suppose I liked Green latern, I want one of those rings

Ehe, Fantastic Four was craptacular, various characters in X-men were weak, heart power kid got the short end of the stick, hell all enemies in that show sucked.

Batman - dark, brooding, suave, kick ass, anti-hero

Wolverine - kick ass, adamantium skeleton, blades shoot out of his knuckles, permanently pissed off, anti-hero

Wonderwomen - kind of a lame character, but makes the list for hotness factor, hot pants, tits that hang out, and great legs

Handiman - from the old television show "In Living Colour" this character was played by Damon Wayans. This character was so politically incorrect it has me in stitches.

Fav: Wolverine. The fact that he gets fucked up yet keeps coming back, that's cool. (Whoever was in charge of Wolverine's look after going 'feral' was a bastard...Wolvie didn't have a nose for the longest time)

Jean Grey. Mind powers combined with redheaded sexiness. Don't get much better than that.

Magneto. Okay, who wouldn't want to be able to have magnetic powers? That's awesome. AND he ripped out Wolvie's adamantium skeleton. Ouch.

Did anyone read the Age of Apocalypse series? That entire storyline (all of the books) was hot, I loved it. I still have every issue including Alpha and Omega. Wolverine with one hand? Magneto as the head of the Xmen? Jean Grey hooked up with Wolverine? C'mon, that was the best storyline I'd read in YEARS (keep in mind, I don't read DC and I only read very few of the Darkhorse comics and/or random others. I'm a Marvel fan).

Worst: The Blob. Fuck that guy.
Toad. Another jerkoff waste of ink, IMO.

I think they stuck her in the New Xmen or some stupid mutant teen team. But yeah, she was teh secksi. I thought it was kinda cool seeing Sabretooth as a good guy. And that one dude, I forget his name right off the top of my head, but his line to Sabretooth when they were fighting cracked me up:

"Healing factor aside and all, do you internally bleed much?"

And then Sabretooth ripped the guy's armor head off. Such a sweet sweet crossover, the AoA. I couldn't get enough of it.

I'm not a huge comic book guy at all. I think I owned like 15 or 20 comic books over my 22 years alive. 10 or 11 of those were from the Age of Apocalypse. I really liked what I read.
