Reading the other topic got me curious if anyone out there hurls daggers on a consistant basis when they hunt. If so care to post up some snipits from a hunt? Im thinking about starting a new warrior or rogue to fully utilize my dagger bandolier so just wondering if its viable in the least.

It just plain sucks, in my limited experience.

While you can always try for the eye and hope for a decent crit, the damage is horrific, and the standing (alert) vs. standing (alert) combat options are just few and far apart. You'll almost ALWAYS need to sweep or (at the very least) feint your opponent down to achieve a minor crit and stun, much less any hard critting.

You'd see better results just ambushing as usual with them, and enjoying the carefree disarm recovery and loot-proof deaths.

If nothing else, you can always watch the one or two friends of yours that DO hurl (though I think they both chuck axes?) while they chuck around daggers you happily offer up (simple 4x or Solhaven's leaf-bladed spring to mind, for testing anyway).

Daggers are neat RP-wise, but that's the extent currently. With a toy, they can be feasible (bandolier, returner), but outside that, there are some things to consider. There is no push down with hurling. There is no crit modifer added when you hurl. There is no benefit to sniping, outside remaining hidden from the target upon a successful throw.

That just about sums up hurling in general. Without a bandolier or returner, the only way hurling is successful is if you're willing to accept that you're going to lose your weapon eventually, and spend time rooting around for the stupid thing. It would be a whole lot better if they'd just get rid of that mechanic...
