View Full Version : Short lived job

06-10-2005, 08:46 PM
Looks like it might be. Here's the story. The reason I got my nice little state job is because I know the right people. Know them enough to get a nice job with a nice salary to start.

Unfortunately, I did know about it as did my boss, I didn't get the job fairly. We will exclude why I didn't but I didn't. Anyway, some disgusting redneck reported this to the Union and now I'm looking at losing my job.

Eh, so I did the wrong thing as did my boss. Cry about it. It was the best for the section though. I was qualified for the job, my boss knew how I worked, and she could trust me unlike someone fresh off the street. I was the perfect match. It's not a case of favoritism, but a case of a really qualified canidate with favoritism by coincidence.

Anyway, that's how it looks. Monday I see if there is a way we can get around this rule and I keep doing what I'm doing. For those that want to (I know it isn't the "right thing to do") wish me luck, I'll be doing it for myself.

whats the problem? did they already fill their quota for metrosexual communists?

and hear i thought you were gonna say you got busted putting wow on your machine at work

06-10-2005, 08:49 PM
Hahaha, I wish it was that simple or stupid! The actual problem is is that I am related to an indirect supervisor who put a good word in for me.

Hope it works out for you.:thumbsup:

Thanks, I appreciate that.

I do have a few things working for me:

1. I am actually need for this job.
2. Management has my back on this one
3. All I need is a signature to sign off on me each day for work as a supervisor that is in no way dealing with my relative. It can happen.

The problem is, HR needs to see it that way. HR is VERY fair, but unfortunately, nobody wants the Union coming in to probe and ask questions. That would make people give up real fast. There are solutions, let's job hope HR buys them. Asking for all the prayers in the world.

Kainen u2u'd me saying she'd ask all the juggalo's and juggalette's to say a silent prayer for you ... but I let her know that anything that would associate you with ICP would only hurt your cause. You can thank me later.

06-10-2005, 09:11 PM
Haha, thanks man, I owe you one. I think HR would get pissed if all of a sudden a ton of people looking like those clowns sprayed Faygo all over the place!

This is why I never interview, hire, or work with people that I have known in the past; be it good or bad.

Also why I'll never work anywhere that has a union.

Hope it works out, but if it doesn't ... I hope you learn something from it.

Taking the leg up, no matter how appealing, will eventually bite you in the ass in some fashion.

Thanks Tsa'ah and definately will take the lesson from this. For once I do agree with you though.

Yeah, problem is in MA there is so much trouble with things like nepotism, or all the other crap that goes on, that Unions need to be there to keep it in check.

That being said, if you are qualified for the job and should get it, then I wish you luck.

Arkans, just tell them your relative is whitey bulger ... that'll shut the union up.

The second I get my official transcript from the registrar's I am quitting so fucking hard it isn't even funny. I guess I kind of feel bad because you vouch to work for at least six months. Come to think about it, I hope there's no serious beef because of that.

Well, the drama is finally over and this how it all resulted. I currently have a job. In fact, thats where I am posting this message from now. What happened was I was resassigned bosses and this guy in no way works under my old boss. From him I was resassigned to my old work station and was told to help my old section with anything that I might know about and that I would only report to him if he might need anything. Heh, I love back door politics.
