View Full Version : Empath Stats, dark elf
Please, rip this to shreds. Trust me, I've no attachment to it and realize it could all be completely assbackwards. It's just one of the many iterations. Be brutal.

Looks pretty darn good to me. Are you primarily a healer? Hunter? If you hunt, do you bolt or bone shatter or both?

In GSIII I was purely a healer. Which has a lot to do with why I ended up taking a really long break. Haven't played in GSIV yet (trying to figure out stats before logging the character in). I ancitipate a combination of healing and hunting. My training will probably be along the lines of:
armor - 8 ranks (at lvl. 44)
PF - 24 ranks (at lvl. 44)
perception - .5x -- is that enough?
FA - 3x for bone shatter
AS - 2x
MIU - 2x
spell aim - 2x
HP - 1x (I hear I should double though...)
spirit MC - 1x
spells - 2x (1x empath, the rest split)
spirit lore, summon - .5x
mental lore, manip - 1x
mental lore, telepathy - 5 ranks (at lvl. 44)
mental lore, transformation - .5x
few ranks each of swim and climb
to be honest I don't even remember some of the reasoning behind various aspects of the training path...gotta dust off my notes. It feels very scattered to me. I don't know if it's because so much has changed, or because I've really fucked up.

My dark elf empath is 1x'd in HP and does fine. The extra TP's for doubling (with so little relative return) were not worth it to me.
I also have less summoning (enough for a few extra cylces on 111). I have 2x in FA, and tend to use Assault more than shatter. I kill younger things in one hit often that way (with the 2 CS cycles) and since she usually hunts over her head, the AS hit allows her to succeed.

1. Reroll as a non-dirt elf.
2. Kick yourself for picking dirt elf in the first place.
3. Thank Wezas.

If you are not going to, or don't care if you are not going to cap, why the crap stats? Get WIS and AUR to 100 at your 44th train, and make it so this empath has as many tp's as possible. Thats my own opinion.

Did you place your STR so high so that you could drag people?
If I were you I'd drop that STR down and raise the CON. You're going to want the extra blood as an Empath.
Czeska, thanks for that. It definitely helps. (Was especially worried about 1x HP when everyone else seems to double, but I had a hard time believing the benefits justified the cost, for me.)
Wezas, um...thank you. I'm not taking your advice, of course, but...thanks.
Not sure why I put my STR so high, come to think of it...maybe worth bringing it down a bit as suggested. As for my crap stats and cap: I don't expect to hit cap, but I don't expect to sit at lvl 44 either, and don't want to place stats solely for max TPs upfront. Maybe it's a mistake.

You never expect to cap, when making a character. I remember once having a giant friend who was a great dragger take me to Titans, because he could drag me out after they killed me and I never ever expected that I'd get to see one and actually survive the experience. I was purely amazed when my character titled, and just as amazed when she legended. She was right at cap level when the cap was instituted, and if you wanna talk boring spend many months being a healer who is unable to learn. (Other empaths would give me angry whispers when I healed about squandering 'their' experience.)
I think they have a 'fixskills' thing once a year now where you can change your stats and skills and have it take effect instantly instead of waiting months for the points to shift? Not sure, haven't played in almost a year and wasn't playing a lot for almost a year before I left. If they do, you can go for optimal skills now and fix them as your needs change with growth.
Remember to leave room for things that you find fun to do. For instance, my character was voln and I maxed her in brawl and edged/shield, as well as being able to fight with magic. She wasn't the most uber leet bolter or shatterer in the lands, but she could hold her own and there wasn't a critter around she was incapable of hitting in some way or other. Made her fun to play, as opposed to prep cast prep cast yawn prep cast.
Edited once I woke up and saw my spelling error.

alot is possible with an empath, I have a halfling twohanded one. If I can do that, at about your age, and hunt easily, then your training path is alot more believable then mine is. I wouldn't worry about it.
