View Full Version : Intellectual Warfare

I wanted to make a thread where individuals could form arguments and try to outsmart each other.

Riddles and such are also allowed.

I'm also going to go into a few longer essays that I'll be writing concerning board mentality, etc. Should be fun.

Please contribute and no flames! STay on topic please.

The only problem with this is that you created it. You who have proven time and time again that you are completely incapable of making an intelligent statement or defending a point that you may or may not have made.

To put it bluntly, you're a moron.

So . . . hard . . not . . to . . . flame . . . .

Can't...

If only Stanley were online this would be the 'heavyweights' list for the intellectual warfare thread.

Before I make this thread magically disappear, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt Groldar. If it turns into an intellectual discussion then that's great. If not, well... I refuse to put up with spam/needless flaming in my folders. Thanks.

Groldar

No, it honestly is going to be. I'm working on material now and wanted to make an outlet for individuals to have to discuss such material.

I stated ni my initial post that I needed some time, but anyone else feel free to contribute in the meantime.

I'll keep the thread posted with updates.

Riddle #1:

Please Post Answers.

A man walks into a bar and asks for a glass of water. The bartender pulls out a shotgun and points it at him. The man says, thank you and leaves. Why?

If you need hints let me know in u2u's. I'll officially post hints 4-11.5 hours after I post the question.

Winners get 100k In Game, at the end of the contest.

The man had the hiccups and the water helped him stop it, and the gun scared him which also help stop his hiccups as well.

Riddle 2 - Bonus Riddle, worth 2 points....

In a fancy bar 3 friends, Mr. Green, Mr. Red and Mr. Blue are having a few drinks. 1 man is wearing a red suit; 1 a green suit; and 1 a blue suit. "Have you ever really noticed," said the man in the blue suit, "that although our suits have colors corresponding to our names, not one of us is wearing a suit that matches our own names?" Mr. Red looked at the other two and said, "You're absolutely correct."

What colour suit does each respective man have on?

I got the best riddle man:

Okay, the more you put into it, the smaller it gets.

The more you take out of it the bigger it gets?

What am I?

ANSWER: HOLE.

06-09-2005, 06:28 PM
Okay, okay, for real this time:

There are two boys on a boat, Pete and Repeat.

Pete falls off, who's left?

Keller
06-09-2005, 06:48 PM
You have two pieces of rope. Each piece takes exactly one hour to burn. However, both ropes do not burn uniformly. (ie - burning half the rope does not equal 30 minutes).

Given nothing more than a lighter and the two ropes -- determine how to tell when exactly 45 minutes have passed.

Man.

Ding ding.

Nakiro
06-09-2005, 06:57 PM
Begin by lighting one rope from both ends and the other rope from one end. At the time the first rope has burned completely the time passed will be 30 minutes and the second rope will take 30 more minutes to completely burn. At this time light the unlite end of the second rope. The rope will burn twice as fast and the remaining rope will finish burning after another 15 minutes, giving you a time of 45 minutes from start to finish.

Yes, I thought of the answer all by myself ';o).

I don't know how Backlash got his answer. I bet it has something to do with graphics (instead of math) though.

I used to know the answer to Nakiro's. :(

Actually, that makes no sense at all.

1 (one one)
11 (two ones)
21 (one 2 and one one)
1211 (3 ones and one 2), or (one one, one 2, two ones)
3112, 111221?

I think you guys are wrong.

I should've gone a line further, heh.

1 (one one)
11 (two ones)
21 (one two one one)
1211 (one one, one two, two ones)
111221 (three ones, two twos, one one)

Lining them up the other way looks to me like it could be 11311211. How'd you get 13311211?

Each line represents the line before.

He starts off with 1 on the first line,

So

Line 2 is: One 1.
Line 3 is: Two 1’s
Line 4 is: One 2, One 1
Line 5 is: One 1, One 2, Two 1
Line 6 is: Three 1, Two 2, One 1
Line 7 is: One 3, One 1, Two 2, Two One

THUS

Line 8 is: One 1, One 3, Two 1, Three 2, One 1, or 1113213211

Identify the pattern and it is easy, thus I am correct.
