Please. It's annoying to hear everytime I open a thread he's posted in. I hate having to read his posts as it is.

If we were to remove every signature, or part of a signature, that people complained about there would be any number of people who would have to make changes. You wouldn't like it if I removed your signature because someone complained about it. TOS is not being broken.
You can turn signatures off through your control panel, or you can turn your sound off so you don't have to hear the song. Those are the best suggestions I can give you, besides asking Stanley to remove the song.

Having a sound constantly playing in your signature goes beyond the normal parameters of what a signature is, in my opinion.
I'd hate to see people making sigs that have a non-stop repeating .wav of "FUCK TEH PC."
Again, just my opinion here.

They annoy me, too, Hulkein. That's why I keep my sound off while reading the boards. However, Kranar has never forbidden it on these boards. I will, however, ask him to take a look at the problem. :)

Heh, my sound is off too, I didn't even realize he had a song going.
I can just imagine how annoying it would be if someone really wanted it to be, and it wasn't against TOS.

I realized it only when I turned on my sound for the Leeroy Song. But that can get quite annoyin after awhile.

Ya fuck that signature. Since they wont force you to, please remove it yourself.

Good thing I have signatures turned off or I'd have been very annoyed. That could have got someone in trouble at work if they suddenly have some obnoxious music playing every time they open a thread in which Stanley posted.

There's a difference between being annoying and being disruptive. Maybe Kranar has never made an issue of it because it's never been a problem up until now.
People shouldn't have to turn off a feature if they don't want to, just because someone choose to abuse the features they're allowed to use.
The features are a priviledge, not a right, and I don't see why everyone else should have to accommodate the way they read the boards because of one disruptive poster.
Yeah, if it's not against the TOS, make it so.

OK I heard something last night that freaked me out a bit because I couldnt see where it came from, but now I guess it was stainley's sig.
So what is the sig doing?
I wasnt taking a lot of notice due to looking for the source

Yeah, to be frank, I don't see why I should have to turn all sigs off, or turn my sound off because of one stupid sig that should be removed. It's annoying pretty much everyone.

I agree, Miss X. Hopefully he'll have the decency to remove the sound after seeing that it is annoying people.

I quite like the sound, maybe he'll find a modification to it that can loop it perhaps.

Here is the thing though... Say I had a sig that was annoying the majority of the posters and the posters expressed this opinion and asked that I remove it... I respect most of the posters enough to not want to carry on annoying them, so I would remove it.
I would expect most of our long term posting group to do the same, because we all post here on the most part, for enjoyment. :)

Annoying sigs is one thing, audio file sigs is another. I expect to put up with text I don't want to read on a forum not audio files.

And therein lies the problem. Some posters who do something disruptive and continues to leave it does not respect the other posters in the first place.
It's not really about modifying individual signatures as a case by case basis just because a handful of people find it annoying. It should be more along the lines of sound not being allowed in signatures because it's a needless disruption. Sound in A post is easy to avoid. Never knowing which thread he's posted in results in something that can't be avoided unless we turn off features we normally enjoy having.

As I said, I agree with the sentiments expressed here. I, too, am hoping Stanley will agree to remove the sound from his signature on his own. I have also asked Kranar to consider the issue on a board-wide basis, since it may require a change to TOS to prevent it from recurring in future.
There is no reason why so many poster's should accomodate one poster's annoying signature. How about a rule imposing no music in signatures?

Okay. I heard back from Kranar. There will be no .wavs allowed in signatures. I have removed the offending noise. :)

I think like many other things in life, we all tend to know not to do certain things simply because we are taught to behave with some respect for our fellow denizens, whatever the locale may be.
We assume that no formal rule is needed for what seems to be so obvious a social mistep and it works out fine for a long time.
Then there finally comes along one person who because they have no respect for themself never learned to respect others and forces that group to make an idiotic rule where none should be needed.
Like the fools who make plastic bag manufacturers print signs on them telling people to not hold them over their heads.
Stanley has now joined those ranks.

Short answer: No.

No, Groldar. If you will read my addition in Announcements/Forum Violations, you will see that it includes all sound files. That will include .wavs, .midis, .mp3s, Flash, and any other permutation you might come up with. I don't want to hang a violation points accumulation on this rule, at this time. However, if it is violated, it may come to that. Since it's been announced, the points assessed for violation might be pretty high if one insists on being obtrusive about it.

 HN & Kranar
I didn't really know what everyone was talking about until I went to a post and music started playing, on my work computer. You can never find the volume button fast enough when you need to, imo.
Annoying sigs - I u2u'd Overlord about how annoying his was... seeing that over and over and over again at work. It's just one of those sigs that you love to hate/hate to love.
I like his new one though!

There's precedent for sound being removed. Bob's had sound in his signature a couple times, both of which ended in editing of the signature.
