For all you laptop shoppers out there right now there's a coupon code that is giving $750 off any laptop over $1500.

Code: LLWP929VNQXM0$

These coupon codes usually are no good after a few hours (though it's said to last until tomorrow).

Example:

Dell Inspiron 6000
Intel Pentium M Processor 1.6ghz
15.4 inch WXGA LCD Panel (widescreen)
1GB Shared DDR2 SDRAM 2 Dimms
60GB Hard Drive
8x DVD+/-R
Internal 802.11 b/g
1 year at home service/tech support

Normally $1631
-750
(free shipping)
$881

(Don't be fooled by the 1.6ghz. The Pentium M processor is much faster then the desktop processors)

Dell sent me three broken hard drives before a technician had to come.

Almost all the major corporations I am in contact with and at least half of the people I know/family have used and love Dell.

Your situation may have been an extreme circumstance where they thought the hard drives were bad before looking at other possibilites.

Did you see a similar coupon code for desktops?
I don't want to go to laptops right now unless I absolutely have to.

They kept saying they sent the wrong hard-drive.

I've hung around with a bunch of Indians and Bangladeshis and I still could barely understand the accents on the opposite end of the receiver.

The technician looked like that MtG card "Ragman."

I was billed for each hard-drive.

My Dell had a bad hard drive to begin with. A tech came out and replaced it the day after I called. I was quite happy with the service.

Can someone get one for me and send it to me?

No, the coupons change all the time and I haven't seen any desktop ones a while. Most of the codes I see are for either laptops, monitors, or servers. I'll post again in this thread if I see another.

I will suggest if you're looking for a desktop to use their "Small Business" section instead of "Dell Home". Better prices, less fluffy crap software.

Even without coupons they have decent deals:

$609 - $100 mail in rebate = $509

Dimension 3000
Pentium 4 3.0ghz w/ HT Technology
XP Home
512 Dual Channel DDR
80gb 7200 RPM HD
48x CD-Rom (add $90 for DVD+/-R)
17" Flat Panel Monitor

Or, for a better graphics card:

$669 - $100 = $559

Dimension 4700
Pentium 4 2.8ghz w/ HT Technology
XP Home
512 Dual Channel DDR
80gb 7200 RPM HD
48x CD-ROM
17" Flat Panel Monitor
128mb PCIe ATI Radeon x300

I can get a discount through Dell via my work.
I'll have to sign in that way and see what deals I can find.
Thanks!

Not a fan of Dell personally but they aren't the worst systems out their. Not a bad deal on a laptop, it's not free.99 but not bad.

Nobody, I have the same thing with my work.

PRICE IT BOTH WAYS.

My work was giving me like 5-10% off, but when I used them it didn't allow me to use the $100 mail-in rebate option.

It was cheaper for me not to use work.

Also if you go through small business and use a mail-in rebate option, remember to put your company name down as whatever your name is. That's who the check will be written to.

That is a decent laptop for 800ish.

Dell rocks. At my last job I completely overhauled the place into dell.. from the rack servers to towers of powerconnects to 80 workstations. They are SO modular and easy to work on but I do admit I have no patience for talking to their retarded customer service. All parts were sent next day however which is a must.

Dell laptops are utter trash. They have more performance and technical issues than any other machine produced.

Go with an IBM. Might be a bit more expensive, but will last you forever.

I've never had any problems with Dell computers. They're not the highest quality, but for the price, that can't really be expected.

Dell customer service, on the other hand, is utter crap. I can understand outsourcing manufacturing and menial labor to places like India, but not customer/technical support. We should at least be able to understand the person we're talking to, and the person we're talking to should at least be able to show a modicum of knowledge. When you're on the phone with Dell support, it's so obvious they're just reading off some script and don't have a clue. I give the representative I get 10 minutes, and if it sounds like they don't know what they're doing, I ask for a manager. That usually routes your call back to America.
