The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Doctor's can be blocked from prescribing medical marijuana.

CNN Story (http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/06/06/scotus.medical.marijuana/index.html)

In Canada it is still legal, now if I can just find a Doctor to diagnose me with glaucoma.

BTW, if you read the fine print, it doesn't exactly rule out legalization of medical marijuana.

the justices ruled the Bush administration can block the backyard cultivation of pot for personal use

so while I can be prescribed medical marijuana, i cannot grow it myself.

Also, as far as I know, the prescription and distribution of THC isn't included in this issue. The dosage, exact measurements, can be carefully controlled with THC in pill (injection?) form. When you smoke a joint, you have no way of knowing if you're getting the "proper" dosage, or if there's any pesticides in it, or other chemicals that would alter the effects of the treatment.

Personally I don't see why the government makes a fuss about smoking pot for ANY use, medical or otherwise. Nicotine is a drug, smoking it causes cancer, and instead of outlawing that, they tax it. They should do the same with pot, IMO.

But I also don't think any bill involving medical use of marijuana as a plant, is going to be a detriment to people with prescriptions for pharmaceutical THC.

Wish it had been legal a few years ago, my mother could have used it. Would rather her not put the pot down then pop those horrid pills that ended up killing her.

I find it sad that in the same week marijuana use has been struck down and big tobacco was fined only $10 Billion rather than the $130 Billion they were supposed to be fined, and for no aparent reason.

As long as Federal executives receive huge campaign contributions from big tobacco companies marijuana will always be crushed in the United States.

It makes me sick.

this would actually be important if you couldn't cop marinol from, like, Ebay.
