Here's some sayings I hate, that I wish people would stop saying.
High Taxpayer (Just call them a four winds hall member).
TTM/MB/CB/BO/OMW/BRB on the net.
Amunet.
Empuff.
Warpath.
Sorcy/Wizzie/boxie/brillies/-ies.
Turnip farmer.
Age descriptions referring to levels.

I cannot stand anyone that calls me a Sorc or a Sorcy/Sorcie, I want to bludgeon them when I hear a profession as dark and mysterious as Sorcery refered to in such a "cute" manner. I also hate people that have the "ies" disease and feel the need to add it to the end of everything, so that you can pick his boxies and give him spellies.

My favorite thing to make fun of is when people come to the park and ask for Massies... or ask for a wizzie to give them strength.
It's especially fun when I look at them and they are giant warriors.

I get a little annoyed when people walk into TSC saying 'I need a puff', I will usually give the standard response of 'puff of what?' Oooh, and also the other day someone said to my empath 'hey, are you an empie?' grrr that made me mad!

If empie makes you mad, I guess you have never heard me come in and ask for a walking herb

Oh come now park. You are looking at it the wrong way.
Giantman Warrior supidly says "Can a kind wizzie cast some massies or strengthify me?"
Translation: "I have oodles of silver in my pockets and many valued stones on my person. Please violate my personal space and alleviate me of this burden."
We should be so lucky there are those that carry around signs.

That wouldn't make me mad, it would just make me think you were stupid.

Anyone that comes to Falgrin's park loaded with silvers is reason enough to make them his mark.

I have some saying's and particular words that irk me a tad too:
"Shut up!" (Shut me up, don't talk about it)
"No you can't !" ( I really hate hearing this. It's almost always wrong)
"Sorc" (Good grief. Nuff said)
"Morst" (My name is some kind of dwarven lunch meat ? I don't think so)
"I knew that."
This get's an entire paragraph. Now if you knew it, and felt compelled to point that out because it was something obvious, or something you know because you are such a brainiac... "I' knew that" just doesn't get the job done. Almost anything would be better, even some lame assed "Duh!". I'm really thinking more along the lines of something like this:
':sarc Thanks for the education Lumnis (or Koar if you want to pick a sex), I'll remember to pray for your divine wisdom again next time I am already aware of the facts.
Am I getting too wordy here ?

Now that you mention it, Morstanya, I really don't like when people shorten names when speaking to or about them. As though spelling out the entire name is a problem.
I'm used to it since people must have a thing for shortcuts and do it everywhere. ::coughsCTcoughs:: But I know that it really bothers other people when their name is short enough as it is and then it's reduced to two letters.

I agree with CT.
Not too much annoys me with the sayings but if im having an argument with someone and they say whatever my blood starts to boil.

Heh, my two characters have short names, so it's not a problem.
Aone, Artha. I think I've been called 'Arth' once or twice.

I hate when people make names our of two otherwise ordinary words.

People tend to call Jolena "Jo Jo" or "Jo" which doesn't bother me in the slightest but I certainly understand how it 'could' grate on someone's nerves.

Oh I don't mean legit nicknames, especially if the person doesn't mind them. But when their name is something like Mary and they call them Mar, or like mine, Karystal and they call her Kar. I like Kary and I even ask people to call me that. But Kar?
I had a character once named Amorisa and people would call her Am or Amo. Sheesh. Of course I won't mention the number of times I would be walking through town and people would be rubbing me because they just couldn't use AMU instead of just AM to rub their amulet.

>> "Sorc" (Good grief. Nuff said) <<
While I agree that all cutey-pie references to Sorcerers (Sorcie, Sork, Sorcy, etc) sets my teeth on edge, "Sorc" does not.
I think it goes back to the fact that that's what Thalior called all of us. I took it as a term of professional endearment. Actually, now that I think of it, the only people I don't mind calling me "Sorc" are other Sorcerers. Everyone else I hear it from makes me want to make them eat my void.
Oh .. and only Gespry can call me Sporc. <snicker>

Im not really bothered when people shorten my clerics name, because I like the short version. Some people call Chica Chic or 'Chi Chi' which is kind of annoying.
IRL my names Victoria, but most people call me Vic or V which is fine by me.
Vx
Everyone's probably heard me before on this one, but I can't wait to get it off my chest one more time. :P
Yes, CT, the non-legitimate nickname crap KILLS me. Especially since my main character's name is Lysistrata.. and people call her Lys... which sounds like 'lice.' It's bad enough that the locksmith she's never been introduced to before knows her name, but to mangle it into parasite form... argh.
If I'm feeling especially pissy already at that moment, I have her stiffen into Ultra Lysistrata Formal Killer mode, where she freezes the person with a look (or tries) and asks them if they really just likened her to a parasite, and how did they know her name anyway?
That usually shuts them up quick. I'll tolerate the name-knowing thing, because it's such a hard battle to fight and it's a losing one. But not the Lys! If you want to shorten her name, go Strata, or Lyssisa as one person came up with.

Yeah, a pet hate of mine is when people take the piss out of the name. Its annoying, stupid and just makes me estimate their intelligence as slightly more than a stupider than usual tic. If you want to harass me, make it worth my while too!

Oh yeah sorry. How would you guys say it...rib, I think. I was very much WTF when I heard "we used to rib each other constantly". The very same applies on the whole fanny/ass thing. It means something quite different here ;)
Take the piss would mean...make fun of. We have variations like "take the mic/mike/micheal" (don't ask me), "rip the piss" etc.

YES. THIS IRRITATES ME TOO!!! :flamed: I was in Ta'Vaalor the other evening with Lysistrata... I had her hiding on the street for a moment while I was AFK ('cause I've been flamed for going to a table to be AFK for a sec) and for some reason, people Sunbursted that area and revealed her while I was gone and then whispered to her. I can only assume they meant to whisper to Lyonis, who was also there.
Next, I was sitting in Victory Court, minding my own business, lookin' for some role-play... and Crovenant starts casting at me. Apparently, he was trying to locate Lyonis, who had just died. He frowned at me as if it were my fault. Then, twice... TWICE he fogged to ME because he obviously hadn't learned his lesson the first time when he cast locate at me and I was right there.
Later, same night. Sitting at a merchant. Lyonis comes in. Some of his friends come in. His daughter (I think..) comes in. They bow to me. They hug me. They whisper to me. REPEATEDLY. And then they tell me to get over it, when I said they were moronic for not being able to tell the difference between a Nalfein female with floor-length red hair and a bald Vaalorian.... and they just made one little mistake, they said. Argh.
Jacina is the only thing that saves that town. And Psiodon. The rest of the morons are pissing the living fuck out of me.

I never even thought about it here. I'm guilty of the CT thing. I'll call you CrystalTears here if that's what you prefer. (whichever you prefer... I am easy)
I can't think of any of my characters that call someone only part of their name. I've even had people say... just call me <insert whatever> Guess I'm a little more lax here.

It's because there's no such thing as a sorc.
Des, sorceress :tumble:
Um because Sorc.. is "Source" when you say it.. and believe it or not, our characters don't type to eachother. *stare*...

You really need to lighten up a bit ;) You might think that it's Source but to me it's Sork. And as Prestius posted before, I believe that Sorc really came into use from Lewis (Thalior).
What kind of cracks me up is how folks have said that the name just doesn't suit a big dark sort like a sorcerer.
When I started Gemstone, sorcerers were one of the damned easiest classes to get to high level. That's why there were hundreds of dark elf sorcerers everywhere - MDing stuff on a node and getting ancient. In fact, for a time some of the biggest twits in the game were all playing sorcerers to some degree.
Couple that with having hunted around someone who open implodes like Moonrani - and well there you have it.
My secret, deep down dislike of sorcerers has driven me to call them sorcs.
-TRL
Well, that is how you say Sorcerer.. "Source-er-er" So Sorc, would be "Source"
Artha

Not really. Two different words. I'm trying to think of an example, but I can't atm.
Adhara

When I see Sorc, I hear "source" as well. I see it as a short for something, therefore the pronunciation of the syllable doesn't change in my mind.
