Reminds me of the sword from Beastmaster.
Nice sword.
Bob, clean your room and finish those floors, it looks like they need sanding, staining and shallacking or carpet.

I just noticed that atrocity of a room. Fuck sanding and shallacking... burn that motherfucker down.
Now all you need to do is buy a broom and a trashbag and learn how to use it. How do your parents let you get away with that.

That is every teenager's response. <screams>
My daughter has the whole basement as her room ... least it has cheap indoor/outdoor carpeting and I only have to see it when I wash MY clothes. I do give her an ultimatum every couple of months but running out of things to take away. Already disconnected her cell phone, she bought herself a car (no control there for me), all her CDs were stolen in downtown Atlanta (duh), took away the computer, and she's never had cable down there.
Bob, can I borrow that sword?

Sure, you can borrow it.
And my parents wouldn't take anything from me because it would be a very dumb idea. Never have and never will.

Of course not. If you were my kid and had more knives then Emeril I wouldn't want to piss you off either.
You had that ninja costume that went with your katana. Now you need one of those Arabic guard costumes like those dudes from Aladdin if you're going to wield that mofo. Word.

Behind me are Sting, a Roman broadsword, a bastard sword; on the rack on the wall are a black and white katana; in the piggy bank is a dagger; on my floor for whatever reason is a one-handed, double-headed axe; and off-screen is a rack of 3 samurai swords.
No kukri.

Heh, I don't know what my next venture is going to be. I'm deciding on either a dagger stand or putting the scimitar on a wall plaque. After that, I might get the William Wallace suede sword.

Don't take this the wrong way, because collections like that are a great hobby and can oftentimes be good investments... but where do you get the money for all that? You're only 15, correct? Do you're parents give you money for them?
Bobmuhthol

<<You're only 15, correct?>>
In like a month.
I've paid for just about all my stuff with my savings. Unfortunately, I don't have an income to renew it and rely on anything I get. Combined with having a girlfriend, it actually gets pretty costly.
Current balance: $345.23, and I owe my mom $48.
Nice. I'd be interested to see images of the katanas. Are they usable or just wall hangers? (Two mekugi, a tang to the bottom of the tsuka, blah blah blah...)
Might as well post some pictures of mine while I'm at it.

Slightly narcissistic yes... but I'm proud of my sword and my accomplishments with it. :D
Currently I'm in the market for a naginata. I mean a real one. I need the tang to go WAY into the pole. It needs to have a live edge, and a folded steel blade. I've been concidering the Paul Chen production naginata, but I can't find any anymore. If anyone has some information, lemme know.

With some sharpening, I'm sure they could make for decent killers. The black especially.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but from where I sit, those blades look stamped, not forge folded. The hamon isn't a real temper line which indicates the steal is probably all one grade of steal... which means if you took that to someone, you run the big big risk of it shattering. Honestly though, I'd suggest you NOT swing those with any force. I've seen way too many wall-hangers sheer off at the tsuba and the potential for injury is very high.
And yes, my blade is a real forge folded blade. I am currently an active practitioner of a Japanese sword form which is, besides video games, my real passion in life.

Any sword you buy in a shop for less than 1000 dollars is likely not usable. I used to collect them as well, but I just got to the point where they even FELT like the damn blade would come flying off just wiggling it around.

BTW Kenn, that last pic would be awesome.... if you weren't wearing Birkenstocks.
Technically, it's not kendo. It's batto. And yes, I've been doing it since 1999.
One of my roomates was a Kendo master.
He could basically hold two spiral notebooks in each hand and it would essentially became heavy weaponry. It was dope.

gawd yes.
Lol. Leave the kid alone, collecting is a good hobby, better than my earlier hobbies. And I defy anyone to tell me their room was spotless when they were 14.
Anyway... Yeah if you put a broomstick / mop / pretty much anything in my hands, I can use it to beat someone.
And a note on the Birkenstocks: I hate shoes. HATE them. My Birkenstocks are like my trademark: I've cut in them, I've raced in them, I've run from the police in them, I went up to Reno and Tahoe in the winter and walked through the snow with them. The bottom of my feet have absorbed the tanning solution used to cure the leather and I have those perminant tanlines. Birkenstocks are the shit.

Exactly what I was thinking heh.
I'll keep my eye out for the naginata. When I was in the Marine Corps I used to do white eyebrow and some sort of stick fighting that I can't recall the name of (basically the sticks represented machetes one in each hand I'm thinking the style is from Thailand).
On the topic of pumpitude I was at the gym tonight and I got a nose bleed while doing deadlift and shrug combos. Sure it was 405 for reps but I've never had a nose bleed from that. Might mean I need to back the weight off til I'm not straining it so hard. That's what I get for trying to pick up where I left off after taking the month off (gym was closed for a remodel all I think they did was rotate the layout of the machines 45 degrees and put a new floor down not sure why it took a month heh).
I need to get back into the bo-staff stuff I used to do, problem is I think I'm way to bulky for any of it anymore, hell I was almost to bulky for my white eyebrow but it was still good training.

I belive it's called eskreema? Or something along those lines. Honestly though, I forget. And man, I was fiddling around with my wooden naginata, it has such an advantage over a sword. Man...

I am a follower of sandalology myself. I hate shoes unless I'm doing the workout thing or wearing Docs with slacks and I basically have lived in my Flojos for years now.
Between years of wrestling.. street fighting..a stay at Parris Island, bowling and Tekken 3 I assure you if that if you were to have a mop or broom in your hands I would kick the ever-loving shit out of you. And if that fails Sig Sauer won't.
Anyways I was really just busting Bobs balls since he is becoming a man soon.

OMG FIGHT ME! GOGOGOGOGOGO.
Lol, between years of fighting with swords, drunken brawls, jail time, tons of Soul Calibur 2, some wrestling and Judo training... I'm confident in my abilities to handle myself in a little scuffle.
It's escrima and it's from the Philippines. What those guys can do with a pair of sticks/machetes is insane. One of the first stories my boyfriend told me was about their national hero Lapu Lapu taking out Magellan with sticks.

That's it! Yeah the problem is the first pirst to miss a parry/block loses hard heh. You're sitting there cracking away and you miss time with one hand and that hand is gone, then you're sitting there going 2 on 1 and it sucks hard. I used to come home bruised from fingertip to elbow. And when we'd go full out legs and torso shots were fair game too. Good times.

They taught that as part of Physical Education at schools in the Philippines. The art of stick fighting.. it's been called many things.. since there's alot of dialects back home. In my province it was called Arnis. Mostly it's used by men in training, women uses those little knives called bali-song. Matt Damon was trained in Kali for Bourne Identity.
[Edited on 6-9-2005 by Lady Shalla]
I was under the impression that those are different disciplines. Maybe the differences are only subtle? I dunno, but my boyfriend trained in arnis and escrima and talks about them as two different things. Does it make a difference that he's from Manila?
Shalla
06-10-2005, 04:46 AM
No, you're right. They're different kinds of training and disciplines. I brought up Kali because from what little I can remember, they can be combined with arnis.
I'm not sure with Manila, since it's a westernized city. But in the provinces they are more old school
